I agree. Long form videos like Nexpo, blameitonjorge, WendoverProductions are great, to name a few. YouTube shorts are a cancer that I really wish didn't exist. It feels like everytime I go on...

YouTube shorts are a cancer that I really wish didn't exist. It feels like everytime I go on youtube I need to scroll past a ton of shorts shoved in my face before I get to the video I want. Along with instagram, snapchat, and all the other platforms. I do not await the day discord puts short form video on their platform....
Ugh, shorts are the worst. I primarily watch YouTube on TV apps (Firestick and PS4), and while on the main page they have their own section that's easy to ignore, there's no way to block them from...
Ugh, shorts are the worst. I primarily watch YouTube on TV apps (Firestick and PS4), and while on the main page they have their own section that's easy to ignore, there's no way to block them from my subscription feed. Most of the channels I follow don't abuse them and upload them very sparingly, but there are times when every other video is a short.
I was using the Amazon iOS app yesterday and noticed that they have an "Inspire" tab now. It's literally just the TikTok UX, only the videos are all ads for random products. My SO and I both...

I'm not the target audience, clearly. But does this UX actually make more money for a shopping app?
I really dislike having to see a video of some random guy to see if he even has the solution for the issue I'm trying to solve, or at least an inkling, instead of quickly scanning blogs and forums...

I don't need to deal with your quirkyness, Jake, I need the info.
Every time I think he's hit rock bottom, he reminds me he owns an excavation company. Twitter's video is sub-ideal now. We know his MO, he's not going to fix the broken parts, he's just going to...

I'm happy that i left Twitter when i did. If there is one thing i hate in social media it's when the app constantly changes for no good reason. Sure Tumblr (which i use next to Tildes) has its...

Joking aside, I have long been split on how much of Musk's disastrous handling of Twitter has been incompetence versus intentional sabotage. This is making me lean more towards "his ego/pride supercedes everything else and he just does what he wants." Which was always obvious and applies to both options, but now it's becoming even clearer that that is his primary motivation for anything. This move goes beyond incompetence or sabotage, it's just stroking his ego by pushing his own political views on people even further.
Everything is becoming a TikTok clone and I hate it so much. I hate shortform video and I hate the death of forums and text based sites.

You mean, you don't want to see the reaction face of generic white girl number 40281 everytime you scroll?

Loving techmoan at the moment. Most of his videos are still under 30mins, so maybe not so 'long form', but still long enough to relax to!
Lemme have a look at the channel. There's a few folks recommending stuff.
His video on cassettes is a good place to start! His recent video on the Nuon was also pretty representative of his channel.
Thanks buddy!
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll take a look at it!

Musk hoping Tik-Tok gets the full nationwide ban so Twitter can come in behind it with a measurably worse app and worse experience?

Wasn't Musk complaining about their excessive server costs not too long ago?
And now they want to host more videos?

Is there some sort of game all these social media moguls are in on that we're not savvy to?
Seems to be a race to the bottom.
