(・-・)? I'm not sure about some of these ages?

Killed by Microsoft today, Visual Studio for Mac was a Mac-specific integrated development environment for projects using Mono or the .NET cross-platform framework. It was 119 years old.

Yeah, this feels like an attempt to have something similar to the list for Google, although I'm not sure any company is as prolific as Google when it comes to killing off services.

Edit: I was looking at the other link in these comments and now see that the main post doesn't list Yammer. Oh well!

They did kill the OG Xbox multiplayer however. Halo fans mourn.

They've just pushed clustered Linux into corps even more if that's the case. $10 per core per month. I have a 96 core dual CPU as a base model and that would cost far too much to license. SaaS is going too far.

Adobe InDesign is a much heavier piece of software. I haven't tried Affinity Publisher, but I have a feeling this will be quite a boon for them given their business model. For reference, it's 6 months free, then one-time purchase (per major version)

Affinity is great, so long as you don’t need to handle Devanagari text. If it’s just one headline or logo, I can type the Devanagari in Inkscape (which has its own problems finding all the installed fonts on my Mac) and export the rendered outline as an SVG. That’s clearly impractical for anything more.

And not just because it replaced by the "New Teams", a branding success that will.echo throughout the ages.

Another take at this given original link is dead for me. Skype for Business will not be missed. It was one of the most horrid chat programs of all time, its a travesty what Microsoft did to Skype.

Followup: Dead link seems to be something with my DNS provider. I thought I was using Quad9 unfiltered, but I guess I have to check that.

I had no idea that MS-DOS lasted that long, I clearly don't remember it being used at all in the 2000s and I was born during the period - we all used XP and 98 growing up. Was this extended for infrastructural systems running DOS?

Disheartened to see AltspaceVR on this list. I didn't know Microsoft killed it. During the pandemic that place was legitimately great. I actually participated in an 8 week stand up comedy class for VR comedy just for the heck of it. It is so bizarre for a company to buy another company, not make any improvements, and then kill it without giving people the option to host their own servers.
