Good on them. Once my wife finishes her backlog of DVRd shows I planned of dropping Sling.TV and allocating that money to Nebula and Curiosity Stream instead.
It seems her Patreon subscribers will get free access to all her Nebula content, in what seems to be landmark deal that she negotiated with the platform. AFAIK, nobody else on there has something...

I didn't know she could command such traffic and platform changes but I'm really glad she can. She's a top-tier internet-era creator and her sidelining was straight up unjust and wrong.
I think Princess Weekes has a similar deal, but the two of them run in the same circles. Plus, I'm pretty sure Lindsay was a big mover and shaker at Standard.

If you scrounge around you can find some absolutely massive discounts, I signed up via one of Legal Eagle's referral links awhile back and got a year of both for like $11 or something insane.

Thanks I'll check it out. The main impediment so far has just been wondering when I ever get time to watch anything these days so is it worth it to pay for things I'm not using. Ironically I'd...
Thanks I'll check it out. The main impediment so far has just been wondering when I ever get time to watch anything these days so is it worth it to pay for things I'm not using. Ironically I'd have pulled the trigger in an instant if they put, like, kid's content on there. Netflix's catalog feels too loud and has jump-cuts and stuff that I think is too overstimulating. YouTube I just don't trust the algorithm. Nebula, I feel, has the right 'ethic' around how to do content that I think they'd be good for educational stuff but that doesn't seem to be a big niche for them.
I don't know if she plans on living off Nebula and Patreon or if she's simply doing this for fun in a much lower risk environment than youtube, not trying to make money on it...but god do I wish...

I hope a more hands off and distant approach (staying far from social media) can shield her from future bullshit.

The cancelling was a small part of it, but there were a number of other things that she was being harassed for. There were a lot of haters out there for her coverage of the Omegaverse legal drama, there were people who were unhappy about who provided voicework in her videos and he voicework showing in other people's videos. And of course she's an outspoken liberal woman on the internet who sometimes talks about feminism and non-heteronormative subjects, and there are a bunch of haters for each of those things.
I think the real crux of it is that a lot of people on the internet envy these sorts of celebrities and the ones who are most "accessible" to fandom get the most hate due to proximity. They love...

I was already excited to see a new Lindsay Ellis video. After watching it, I'm ecstatic that she's back to her old form. It's been so long and there have been so many other video essayists but there really is no substitute for her style, wit, and amazing flair for co-opting memes with such precise comedy. But also, I really miss her choice of subject matter. It really feels like video essay topics have been flattening into whatever is topical or why something is good/bad. It's nice to see a passionate focus on one specific part.

Oh I'm so glad to hear this.

I’ve known about Nebula for a while and signed up within minutes of seeing this post.

I’m just glad to see she’s still around and her material is back. I really enjoyed all the stuff I watched from her.
Can someone tl;dr + ootl this for me?
