Also, I found myself caring about the Disco cast a lot more than any of the new characters added in Picard.
The only thing redeeming Picard at all is S3, which is closer to what I think what people were expecting from S1, but it leans on the nostalgia juice maybe a little too hard. It was more enjoyable than S1/2 but that’s not a high bar.
Hmm maybe I'll give Discovery another try. When SNW comes back I'll re-subscribe to paramount and watch both. Also I haven't watched much of The Lower Decks and I know that is pretty good. One...

One thing I'll note is that I kept hearing over and over again that The Orville was a great show. I watched a few episodes of that and just hated it. But then a year later I went back and watched it and it really got better and I liked it a lot.

The first few episodes of The Orville are a bit rough, because they basically are the “Family Guy in Space” that everybody was expecting a Seth McFarlane space show to be, but yet it really shaped up. I just recently watched the latest season a month or so ago, after having watched previous seasons ages ago and was shocked by how well developed the production was, with elaborate sets for several different locations and generally high production values. It was very close to being Trek.

Strange New Worlds is easily the best post-90s Trek though.
Lower Decks, Lower Decks! It's my favourite, with SNW as a very close second. As sad as I am that Lower Decks got cancelled, I'm really glad they went out on a high, with five solid seasons.

The first 12 seconds really got me. I really hope there's an episode where the crew wakes up and finds themselves in a retro-campy TOS aesthetic alternate universe. That'd be fun.

I'm psyched. I hated Picard and stopped after S1, and lost interest in Discovery after S3. But SNW can do no wrong and I love it.

For some reason I made it much longer watching Discovery than Picard.

People will disagree but I think Discovery gets better after season 2 when a pretty big change happens

If any show of the new crop deserved a seven season run like TNG/DS9/VOY got back in the day it was Lower Decks
I am unashamed to admit that I listen to "Flying Blind" in the car and sing along.
