I hadn't watched the trailer for that one and it was amazing! I tend to avoid watching trailers for movies I know that I'm watching anyway.

Yeah! I wear protection for my wrists, my knees, my elbows, and I even wear a helmet. I don't mind looking silly. It's just that landing on your butt hurts, and I don't know that I can prevent it.

About a week ago I started roller blading (with the help of an early Christmas gift from my family). I'm 34 and I fell once three days ago and it still hurts. A man in the park told me that I should have fallen forwards instead of backwards. I know he was trying to help, but I don't think at my skill level that I get to control which way I fall. It's been fun though, and good exercise.

I wouldn't say it's either. It's a leaf, what we buy in the supermarket is a dried version. We put the dry leaf inside a special container (most typically a dried gourd called mate) and you pour hot water and drink from a special straw called bombilla, which allows for the passage of water but not the leaves. There's is a whole art of making it perfectly, I could find out more if you want (I only drink mate when people share their own with me, sharing it is also part of the ritual).

In case you're curious and have never tried it, I live in a country where the majority of the population consume yerba mate every day. It's an acquired taste since it's very bitter, but once you're hooked it's a great substitute for coffee. It can also be very practical, in my country people carry around mate and a thermos full of hot water everywhere.

Absolutely. It sucks that it created the trend, but it's hard to blame them when I feel it was justified.

I agree with everything you said except for it not being a good idea to split Harry Potter's last book. It allowed for a very cinematic 7 part 1, which to me is the best of the whole series.

The movie literally ends in the middle of the climax. My comparison is that it's like fellowship of the ring ended when spoiler Boromir gets shot with the first arrow. To be continued, credits.

I teach English in a language school (where my experience is usually similar to your first class) and in highschool (where it's generally like your second, or even worse, where not only do they not pay attention, but they actively sabotage the lesson).

The highschool pays much better, but I work many more hours in the language school because of what you mention. There I get smaller groups of teenagers and adults who are willing to learn and laugh at my jokes. I don't care about the money imbalance, it's better for my mental health.

Edit: I'm not self medicating, they were prescribed to me.

It's about a town where all the men have died in a mining accident. It's funny how they manage to still make most main characters men with that plot, but it really is great.

I've been a secondary school teacher for 10 years. The names for the grades here are different, but my students are about 16 years old. I agree with the other comments, it definitely got worse after the pandemic.

I have always avoided working with 15 year olds because their hormones are at a peak and they tend to be much meaner to each other. My experience was that from 16 on they got much better at being civilized. But since the pandemic it's exactly like that one year of social development is missing. The academic aspect is also behind, but I think the social aspect is more notable in my case.

I wish I knew how my pandemic students are doing now at university. I imagine they might be struggling even more than normal, which would be a failure of the system.

On the other hand, I also teach teenagers and adults at a language institute and that experience had much better results. We were surprised to see that the exam results were similar to other years and they haven't got worse since, so I guess the context changed a lot.

Personally, the start of the pandemic was a really dark time for me. We miss only one day of classes, they told us that we needed to start teaching online immediately. Which was a major struggle for me because I'm not too technologically savvy and I'm not sure I even had my own computer. We had to manage with what we had at home and my husband is a teacher too, so we would have to teach at the same time. Thank God for him who became my IT guy, and thank God we didn't have children. I'm not sure I would have coped otherwise. I bearly did, I remember holding until the class had finished to start crying.

After I had the materials and I got used to the program I felt much better, and at some point I ended up enjoying working in my Crocs, but it took a few months.

Yeah, I don't think all videogames are psychologically addictive, the same way I don't think all Netflix content is either. But if I have to choose to compare Netflix addiction to something, it's closer to videogames than to alcohol. BTW, I love watching tv (both before streaming and now), I love videogames and I love board games too. I have no intention on stopping because I agree with you that there are great aspects to these hobbies. I also recognize that I might spend too much time on them and I could have a better balance with other kinds of activities.
