It's always sad to see beautiful, old and historical buildings get destroyed by fires. I live in the completely opposite part of Denmark, but I love walking about the old parts of Copenhagen. Sadly, these kinds of buildings do not get built anymore - they're too expensive. But seeing beautiful brickwork, spires, courtyards and copper roofs is just great.

I still have my Gmail account, but it usually just gets junk mail these days. I changed to Fastmail two years ago, and I think I have received one or two junk mails there, while I receive the same amount every day in the Gmail account.

I was at a concert with a Danish artist called Jacob Bellens yesterday (he sings in English, if you want to give him a listen).

His music is a mix of melancholy and hope, and his voice is quite unique. It was my first time seeing him live, and it was a great experience. He’s a bit of weirdo in a good way, but I left the concert on high. I talked to him after the concert and got his autograph on his newest album on vinyl.

Anyways, this is just to say that please go listen to artists live. It’s always great. I’ve learned to love so many more artists by going to live shows, even when I don’t know the artist or didn’t like them very much initially. Seeing music live is wonderful.

We need to compensate our nurses better here in Denmark, or this trend will never shift. We’ve seen nurses turn to Norway for years, this is nothing new, really.

I don’t have a recommendation for an online retailer, sorry. My girlfriend who makes a lot of dresses and children’s clothes swears to retail stores where you can see details and feel the quality yourself.

However, I do have a recommendation for a very cool site where I’ve found some nice patterns: https://freesewing.org/

It’s basically patterns that can be customized to fit the size and style of almost any type of human. I have a few shirts and t-shirts that my girlfriend made for me, and they are the best.

Good luck with your new hobby - it’s amazing to use your hands to make real stuff.

Spelunky HD for much the same reasons, and because I just couldn’t stop humming along.

World of Warcraft (vanilla) for its epic tracks. Discovering a new area of the map and listening to the area’s music for the first time was exhilarating.

Hotline Miami for the hard beats and adrenaline inducing bangers.

I switched to Fastmail this year as well. I’m very happy for the change from Gmail. I tried Tutanota, Mailbox, Proton, HEY, and others, but Fastmail really was the only one that I liked and worked with a shared Google Calendar (I have a shared calendar with my girlfriend) in a way that allowed me to make events on the Google Calendar directly from Fastmail’s app.
I love the masked mails functionality as well.

I have only a few friends that I know read books regularly. But I think most of my friends and family will read a book once in a while, especially if we’re counting audiobooks too (which I do, I love them). I’m in Denmark.

I’m one of the people who is always reading 1 to 4 books at the same time, I don’t know anyone else who does that, not even in my family. When I tell people, they always react with a “wow, how is that even possible?”.

Right now I’m reading A Little Life, Atomic Habits and GoT: A Dance with Dragons. So it’s a good mix of things to chose between, depending on my mood.

I found that acids (citrus juice, vinegars, fermented dairy products like yogurt and others) really help bring out the flavour of many dishes.

Grilled or roasted vegetables are so much better with a lemon sprinkled over them or served with a tangy yogurt sauce. Sauces, salads and slaws love some vinegar. Many deserts are greatly improved with some acid as well, especially if they’re very sweet to begin with.

Another obvious one is heat, you want some Maillard reaction going on, without overcooking your food. Breads are often more tasty with a browned crust, so are roasted potatoes and other vegetables. Steaks and poultry of course.
