I think it’s still reasonable for users to ask what the succession/backup plan is, and to make an informed decision on whether it or not they’re comfortable using Tildes depending on it.

    My go-to Old Fashioned:

    • 2 oz Jack Daniels
    • 1 tsp maple syrup
    • Dehydrated orange peel (or fresh, but I find it easiest to just dehydrate a whole bunch at a time)
    • Couple dashes of bitters

Stir well and serve with a large whiskey cube, if possible.

Some of you mentioned boredom on long runs, but running is one of the only times that I’m able to be 100% in the moment and not be bored without looking at my phone or listening to something.

Agreed! I actually liked the second book, The Dark Forest, even better than TTBP. Waiting for the third book to be available from my library

I’m thinking probably 7ish. I bet I could take up to three simultaneously, so that makes for six total, and then I’d probably take anyone or two out of the group of four before being overwhelmed.

This weekend I’m running a 24-hour trail relay race with a team of four. I did 67km at the same race last year and finished in a wreck. This year I’m hoping for closer to 80 and to end feeling better, but several contributing factors have caused my training, which was going very well, to fall off the past couple weeks.

Also it’s supposed to rain all weekend.

Thanks for this, this is an excellent game! Well worth the money. One question which you may know the answer to: are all the keys for the doors and chests on a given level necessarily hidden on that level? Or do you sometimes have to retrieve a key from a different level and then go back? It seems I’m leaving quite a few locks locked.

@Protected I would be very cautious of any of those recommendations. Patriot, White Lotus, and Succession are all incredible shows, but I would definitely not recommend them to my conservative grandparents. White Lotus and Succession in particular have a ton of extremely explicit language about sex, and S1 of White Lotus has a quite explicit gay sex scene. Patriot is incredible (probably my favorite all-time show), and while less explicit than the other two, it's quite dark and just odd, and has a lot of jokes that may not land with your parents.

That being said, you should definitely watch them!

This may not be the sort of show you have in mind, but I think it actually fits your requirements. I loved Shtisel (Netflix). It’s a sort of family drama about an orthodox Jewish family in Jerusalem. It’s beautiful, touching, and funny. It doesn’t gloss over negative aspects of Orthodox Jewish culture, but portrays things (I think) in an honest way, and just shows the humanity of everyone.

I love the simplicity of it — all you need are a pair of shoes, and you can just step out your front door. The community aspect is also great — good way to meet people.

2018 Toyota Prius-C base model. It’s really my wife’s car, but it’s the only one we have. It’s fine. Gets good gas mileage, but it’s tiny, and unlike some other small cars does not make good use of interior space. Also it doesn’t have cruise control! What?! I would love for our next car to be an electric or plug-in hybrid wagon…Volvo V60?

2008 KLR650. Goes anywhere, slowly. Mechanically simple, but annoying to work on — even a spark plug change requires all the fairings to be removed, and the rubber well nuts disintegrate when you touch them. Tenere 700 would be my dream bike right now, but I’m not riding much lately.

2002 Sportster 883. Not currently riding it, as I crashed it and smashed it up just a bit. Waiting on repairs, and then selling it. Never liked it that much. Heavy and slow.

90’s Trek 520. Steel, made in USA. Great bike.

    Previously

    • 2016 Chevy Sonic. Nothing good to say about it, nothing bad to say about it. Needed something cheap and reliable to hold me over for a couple years after my GTI blew up.
    • 2002 GTI 1.8L turbo. Loved this car except for the ongoing electrical issues. So fun to drive. Unfortunately the timing belt snapped at 180k miles and blew up the engine. I gave it to the mechanic in the small town I was passing through for scrap, but then saw it driving around for years afterwards. Lol.
    • 1995 Ford Ranger. It was fun to have a pickup truck. It was not fun to have a pickup truck with RWD only in Wisconsin winters.
    • 1982 Yamaha Seca XJ550R. Awesome bike. Small, light, fast for what it was, and bulletproof. Unfortunately difficult to get parts for, and ended up selling it to my boss, although I kind of wish I had kept it.
    • 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro. Beautiful car. Pearl white. Hatchback. Five cylinder. Stick shift. I can still smell the wood and leather interior. Heavy as hell and slow as shit. Eventually got too expensive to maintain, and I was too young to take care of it. I let it sit in my yard for years sinking into the mud, and eventually gave it to my hippy friend who inflated the tires with a bicycle pump, jump started it, and limped it 25 miles with no brakes back to his place in the woods. He still drives it.
    • 2003 Impala. Second ever car. Thought it was pretty luxurious (and fast!) at the time. Ended up blowing the transmission doing donuts in the winter.
    • 1995 Camry. First car. I remember it being a really good car, but I don't actually remember what happened to it.

Honestly, the thing that has gotten me reading again recently is finally caving in and reading books on my phone. I say this as someone who loves the physical sensation of books — the smell, the feel, flipping the pages, etc.

That being said, life gets in the way, and for me at least, reading took a back seat. When my daughter was born though, I was often up with her in the middle of the night, and started checking out ebooks from the library on my phone, and pretty soon I was finishing books in a few days again!

It also means that when I feel that urge to pick up my phone, it's just as easy to open the library app and read a page as it is to open Instagram or whatever.

Figure out what works for you!
