I enjoy how they fleshed out all the supporting characters story lines. In book 1 you only get Holden's and Miller's perspectives, none of the other characters are all that developed. I think my favourite part of the show is how they've developed Amos. Dude has done a stand up job filling that character out.
It's funny that people think that the show has declined since Amazon took over. I don't think season 4 or 5 would have had the budget to do them justice without Amazon backing them. You can complain about how the story went all you want, but the show doesn't really deviate from their book counterparts on a macro level.
Anyways, like has been said, it's a fun watch. It doesn't have to be too deep, and I don't think it's really trying to be. The books have that same "good guys get in trouble but always miraculously make it out alive" kind of vibe that the show does. It's not particularly thought-provoking sci-fi but it's been really visually stunning these last two seasons.

It's been a wild ride, and has taken me probably 6-7 years to get to this point, but that's because I really enjoy these books and wanted to savour them for as long as I could. Robin Hobb is really great at depicting believable characters and character development, which I find to be the real strength of her books. Highly recommended for anyone who is into fantasy and enjoys good characters.

Oftentimes when you can source industrial chemicals from a pharmacy or grocer they are diluted concentrations. Industrial applications require the use of much stronger formulations.
The place I worked at was dinged with a $20,000 fine from the city because they were just dumping this stuff down the drain.

I worked at a small craft-brewery a few years back and we used to just dump waste chemicals straight down the drain. It was actually really gross that the owners didn't care to find a good way to dispose of it because it was just easier to dump it. I imagine this put a pretty big strain on local water treatment facilities. We used concentrated sodium hydroxide to clean our bright-tanks, fermenters, and kegs, which was happening multiple times per day. Not something to just shrug off really.

I took an extended break for reasons I don't even remember, but started visiting again recently.
I find myself often just lurking sites I frequent and never really engaging in the discussions myself. Tildes has a pretty great community in comparison to many of the other spaces I visit but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. Even just reading through these comment threads the discussions that are happening are well spoken and thought out. Thanks. <3

My wife loves true-crime stuff and we camped all through Iceland for our honeymoon in 2015 so the draw was definitely to see how much of the locations we recognized. It's rather well done and anyone who likes murder mysteries should give it a shot.

I'm part of a music forum that runs its own 'best of' end of year list voted on by all the users (a bunch of music nerds) so there is always something I've never heard of popping up on people's lists. Cindy Lee was one of those finds. I'm familiar with the band Women, and Preoccupations, but didn't know that Cindy Lee was also related to Women as well. Anyone unfamiliar with any of these bands should check them all out if they like Noise Pop/Post-Punk.
I only discovered this album at the end of November and it ended up as my #1 pick for the year.
Another album I've been playing a lot this week is The Creatures - Feast. I've been a fan of Siouxsie & The Banshees for a while now, but I never explored any of Siouxsie Sioux' other projects until last week. This shit is awesome. Highly recommended to anyone who likes ethereal/textured/rhythmic/experimental music.

If I'm trying to broaden my tastes by exploring unknown bands/genres then I'm happy to check out which albums I should start with on something like rateyourmusic.com. If I like what I hear I generally explore further on my own, but I usually start with critically acclaimed albums when I'm checking someone out for the first time.
That being said, I've been curating my own music collection since I was like 18, so almost 20 years now. It takes a lot of actual work to look for music on your own but I find it really rewarding when you find a total gem. My most recent favourite find: Henry Saiz - Reality Is For Those Who Are Not Strong Enough To Confront Their Dreams.

It is definitely a flawed game, but it delivered exactly what I was expecting. The characters are all believable and convincing, the art is stunning and the gameplay is just fun. I really enjoyed the main story. I opted not to clear the whole map in my first play through and instead explored the world more organically. I know I'll want to revisit this one once DLC/fixes arrive later this year. I ended up spending most of my time driving through the city exploring and playing around with photo mode.Celeste
I love the movement and speed this game allows for. There are all kinds of nice little secret challenges around the different stages that allow you to decide how difficult of an experience that you want. The story was nice for what it was but I wish there was a setting in the options to disable all cutscenes. There is already an option in the pause menu to skip a cutscene so it just seems like it would be a nice quality of life improvement for those who like to replay the levels to find secrets not to have to pause and skip everytime. -
