Are they still porting it? I thought they promised a Linux build, even if not on launch. Still waiting on AMID EVIL too..

Can you hear the millions of WH nerds screaming "LOOK AT MY MINI PAINT!"

Playing boardgames is a hobby that doesn't result in a made thing to show off.

But the (sub)groups aren't about taxonomy so it doesn't matter? I'd hazard a guess that physics is popular enough for a subgroup of science in itself.

Physics is not the top level of categorisation: it's a "child" of the "parent", natural science. Social science is the "parent" of the "child" economics.

Those are some pretty significant (and most people would consider basic) hardware-related functions that this game doesn't need to worry about dealing with at all.

So what? Are you implying those features are some kind of giant hurdle to overcome in the development process? I also don't see how the team size is relevant to "introducing incompatibilities or issues" regarding crossplatform support since we're talking about video games, not low-level programming.

Your website scope example is kinda weird too, remember all those "Optimized for IE/Netscape" pages? They had probably more trouble coding those websites for different browsers than people doing development on crossplatform middlewares :)

Edit: he also has a "Linux First Initiative" explained on his site, where Linux is treated as the primary platform. ... He basically ports his games to Windows.

And he's arguing that when you're targeting linux(using open middleware etc) it makes it easier to build across platforms. Why couldn't most game development(and more importantly why shouldn't it) be done that way?

That's what I thought too at first, but after reading Seeing That Frees by Rob Burbea I've come to think of it differently. There are other teachings of Buddha that can be misconstrued as a case for apathy too, like the constant focus on dispassion, teachings on emptiness and suffering, et cetera. The way I now see those is that they're more about setting up a baseline from where to start your thought process on things, a calm compassionate mind.

I'm not sure if I'd call myself Buddhist but I do call myself an anarchist, and I do see a lot of common ground between Buddha&Bread Santa :)

Not really. Antifa isn't some specific group, it's just a banner to unite under against the fash. There's the Socialist RA though.

Really? Wasn't Windows 10 with their MS store/UWP and DX11 exclusivity shit just a giant leap towards the walled garden approach?

which is getting more and more walled off and closed as windows goes the opposite direction kind of leads me to believe that this really isn't what's happening here.

Also fuck Nvidia with their EGLStream or whateverthefuck was problem with Wayland support.

Now I got a desktop with RX580 with no problems thanks to amdgpu drivers for gaming, and a T460 for laptop I'm using right and I'm so much happier. Now when they get Steam Link working with Linux I'll be able to game even on this laptop!

You can but they sure haven't made it easy. Not sure if they still try to re-enable them after every update.
