Is there a ranking of "best to worst" states in terms of Republican crappiness? It sucks, I always had a soft spot for Idaho. I hope the migration of intelligence towards blue states accelerates.

I realized recently that conflicts are really straightforward.

You go "git merge master <your branch>" and a file has conflicts. Open the file in your editor, and it shows you "their" code, and "your" code.

All you need to do it remove all the ===== and >>>> from the file, put it into the state you want, and then git add <file that had conflicts>, git commit.

What happens when the conflicts are super confusing? My approach is to go to my PR in Github, and look at the last clean version I pushed there. What does it look like? What were the changes I was trying to introduce? What changes is the other user trying to introduce?

My reviewing that "last clean state", I often find the merge conflicts much easier to understand.

Again, a merge confict is just git saying "I'm not sure what this file is supposed to look like" and then you go "here, lemme clean that up for you."

Spend a lot of time on Craigslist, and make a spreadsheet of the ads you see, at what mileage, price, condition, etc. It really won't take you long to get an absolutely rock-solid sense of what your car is worth. Look in nearby cities if you're not seeing enough ads.

You aren't going to get ripped off in a private sale, but the effort can be ... a lot. Keep in mind you can just go to a dealer, e.g. find a nice pre-owned Honda you want, go to that dealer, and ask them for their trade-in value. They'll take it yours out back, and give you a quote. For free. You tell them ok I need to think about it.

I did that with my truck, their price was laughably bad, and I said damn that sucks and left.

The easiest way to get rid of a car is to trade in it. Zero hassle. You walk into a dealership, you say "I want that one" (it can be pre-owned, I've never bought new) and they "estimate your trade-in value", and you get that discounted off your purchase price. Takes zero time, takes zero effort. You'll get ripped off, but ... it's done.

The other way I've sold cars is via Craigslist, or Marketplace, or Kijiji, depending on your location. Take lots of pics. Good pics. Put effort into your ad. Find out what prices are out there, do some research, and post it. It's pretty easy, but Marketplace is a nightmare of "is it available?" It's probably a nicer experience if you have a good vehicle. If you have a generic GM you might find lots of annoying buyers. I sold a dresser that nearly drove me to insanity; this is why I give away my cars for trade-in value.

Detailing / cleaning the car very well will help. List the issues honestly, and when you sell, you can meet at police stations if you're scared of being car-jacked. One thing is to be patient; you can sell the most bizarre, niche vehicle, but that means finding the single person in the country that wants it, maybe. This can be hard when you're selling your daily driver.

I believe you can sell a car to anyone, but you'll sell it IN your province. Like you'll have a bill of sale for your province, e.g. BC, because you'll do a registration transfer or something at an insurance place. The new owner can take that to Alberta for example, and get the car registered. Not your problem. You definitely want to get documentation saying you sold it. Call your insurer or registry so that you're clear what the official method is. Don't just "give the car away" for cash. You don't want it associated with your name in any way!

I don't think any of my post was useful, tbh, but best of luck :) I love buying cars, haha.

But you can only buy one with a short cargo bed and a four-door cab.

If anyone is thinking of buying a truck, I highly recommend you think long and hard about how useless this configuration is. Smaller interior space than an SUV. Smaller carrying capacity than an SUV. A short bed is nearly useless. No car camping in this thing! Whereas even the smallest "SUV" (Subaru Crosstrek, hell, even a Honda Fit) has more length for sleeping / carrying wood, etc.

If you need to carry DIRTY things (literal dirt? firewood?) trucks are handy. But you can also rent a trailer for those two times, and tow it behind any car.

I love your dark theme, I think it looks great. My only comment would be the "submit" button is a bit on the overly bright side. I think it could be a bit more subtle, for the low-contrast look you're trying to achieve. Maybe a variation on the purple.

I'm gonna answer here: dogs are hard. I don't think you're going through anything abnormal. You don't hear about "normal" dogs, only good dogs!! I had to take a week off work for my first dog. I walked for HOURS every night. I couldn't leave her alone for a minute. It was hell. I had landlords and neighbours calling to complain... I seriously considered having to return her to the rescue, if you can imagine that. Awful.

In the end, she was the best dog ever. But yeah, it's tough. Most trainers are absolutely awful. That's normal. Most pet sitters are flakes. (Almost by design, no?) Keep at it. Wish I was nearby, I'd come over and help!

My advice: search for "working dog" everything. "Working dog kennel", for example. They would never let dogs play together. They would treat dogs with respect. Working dogs are dangerous, and someone with working dog experience would be able to handle any dog. I had a really good kennel like that, and you just trusted your dog would come home safely.

If you've never done it, it's highly recommended. My favourite part about them is not just the fact that you'll definitely go further than you've ever run before, but that the slowest runners run right alongside the super elites. It's really fun and interesting. It's also hell on earth, pure torture! Just what the doctor ordered, haha.

Thinking about racing some Backyard Ultras (last person standing races, which generally go for just under 2 days, so between 100 and 200 miles). But really I'm just trying to get into decent running shape.

I've been up over 4 weeks of 100 mpw several years ago, but last year that kind of mileage eluded me. If I could reach 100 km per week consistently, I'd be happy for now!
