Interesting concept, similar to Playdate but games are designed with GB Studio from a mobile platform and the controller is a reusable sticker with tactical controllers.
10€ - 4 games of Season 1 and a Playtile controller.
20€ - All 12 games in Season 1 and a controller.
40€ - A bonus game, Season 1, and two controllers in exclusive colors.
Color me curious. Wonder what I can do with the tile when I'm not playing though, or if they've got plans to introduce a split tile pair that has d pad for one side and buttons on the other. I...

I like to emulate older games on my phone, but I gotta be selective since titles like Zelda are rough without tactile input, so this sounds great to me. I generally don't back pre orders, kickstarters, early access, etc. but at $12 it may convince me to reserve any way.
I'm a little skeptical. The controller seems better than nothing, but I'm not sure it's enough better to be worthwhile, especially when it's only used for unspecified tiny games. For about the...
I'm a little skeptical. The controller seems better than nothing, but I'm not sure it's enough better to be worthwhile, especially when it's only used for unspecified tiny games. For about the same price you could get a better controller that clips onto the phone, and then you could use it for all the things your phone can already play and emulate.
The controller seems novel and pretty low tech. Some kind of electrically conductive silicone? Glued to a credit card with some holes in it. I can't imagine they cost much to make or ship.

I don't think it's particularly novel. You've been able to buy these from Alibaba for like $0.50 for ages now. It's also one of the most commonly 3D printed items.

Are you talking about those detachable phone nipple things? Same concept I assume for interacting with the touch screen. You're correct it really isn't something new and groundbreaking just...

Upside of the design being you don't have to carry around a pocketful of nipples in between gaming sessions. The keying for lining up the buttons is nice as well.
What would I search for when looking for a 3d printed example? I'm looking for a justification to buy myself a 3d printer before the Bambu sale ends.
I couldn't find any of these "nipples" or 3d prints last night! Closest was a single "joystick" for $10. If something like Playtile is already a thing, I wanna check out the DIY copies and bug my...

I get a couple results for "touchscreen joystick" when searching on Amazon. I think they are less relevant these days due to telescopic phone controllers being superior.

This seems really cool! It's pretty tempting to jump in and at least give it a shot, especially for this price... I like the idea of it, at the very least. I hope that the games are more GBC...

I hope that the games are more GBC styled than GB styled, though - I am a sucker for the GBC aesthetic, but very much not a fan of the GB aesthetic.

Mine came in today. With the website provided, the controls are a little high up on the screen for my taste, and the physical controls feel a little off, but for what it is, it's a nice system for not having to deal with touch controls, and if you put them in a store for 2 for $5, I think it would do well.
I can understand if they don't want to. I love my modded N3DSXL but it did cost 200€ used and has its limitations for that price. It's why there's so much talk about modern dual screen handhelds...

This is... not an upgrade, though. I posted about it at top-level but I don't see what it provides to the buyer at all.
I really don’t like that the different colors are priced so dramatically. Or the business model, either, actually. “playtileOS” seems a lot to me like it’s a glorified browser GBC emulator. And...

Or the business model, either, actually. “playtileOS” seems a lot to me like it’s a glorified browser GBC emulator. And while I don’t think it’s impossible to make one, I have yet to find a really fun game made in GB Studio. So why would I want what seems like a subscription to games they can’t even give me the most basic previews of? Do they really have games lined up or are they planning on using this market push to get people to publish with them?
I do like that it is supposed to work with delta though.

I'm sorry to be negative, but this seems profoundly pointless. In practice, isn't what you're paying for just a GameBoy emulator that can only play GB Studio games, and has you play using an inconvenient stick-on controller? At least, it's cheap, but I don't know why anyone would choose to buy this instead of getting something like an 8BitDo Micro (and a piece of tape for the sticking on, or nothing if you're fine with touch controls) and an emulator.
If you don't want to "play all the same retro games, then why not play some PICO-8 games or PC games through GameNative? Hell, I can relate to being "overwheled by large libraries", but surely there are better ways to deal with it without paying for some toy console?
I hope those who bought it get some enjoyment out of it, and I wish the best of luck to the developers making games for it, but it seems really dumb to me.
EDIT: I talked about this to someone else and we noticed that the pending patent number they list seems to corresponds to a completely different patent...?

Took the plunge and ordered one.
I'll let you all know how it is when I get it.
How is it?
Funny enough I just got it today and I opened tildes to come find this thread.
I am setting it up now. Will report back.

Maybe 2nd hand devices are getting scarce now? But I'd still prefer more people pick up a modded vita, 3ds, or switch instead.
