The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
We recommend you install our mod web-chat so that you can chat while in your web browser. It turns the server into an old-school chat room.
I finally finished all my exteriors for the buildings on my platform out off the coast of Poland! Might take a break for a while, as I have other books to read and games to play (and I HATE doing interiors) but I'm pretty proud of how everything turned out.
I'll miss you! Enjoy your break if you take it :)
I know a lot of you met The Teen, aka. @Sky_Bubble today, thanks for making it feel welcome. It is probably not going to post on tildes at all but its plan for that big hole it dug in town is a building that will be, as I understand it, halfway between the Gem temple from Steven Universe and the farmhouse from Harvestella, prominently featuring an amethyst spire.
It loves the little stream scene nearby, and thought all your jokes and stories were hilarious.
Glad to hear! They were fun to have around and polite! Well, polite for a teen :p I did get essentially get ok-boomer'ed but in their defense I also 100% started it hah.
Screenshots!
Credit to @Bront for making the memorial shown in screenshot 1.
That texture pack is fun, but definitely leans towards certain building styles. Especially the glass in the industrial district is so fitting, but that glass style is probably a bit more jarring elsewhere. Those mobs are cursed though as you pointed out
I finally made the screenshot list!
Hey all,
In case any of you have wanted to "leave your mark" somewhere in my town, Słonecznikowo (People's Republic of Poland), I currently have 3 future builds where I'd absolutely love to see what someone else would build. Obviously, with some basic requirements in place, so that nobody just ends up constructing a wool dong ejaculating obsidian in the middle of my base, or some shit
Those projects are:
I don't really log in here almost at all anymore, so if you're interested, please contact me in-game!
@IsildursBane after you logged off I levelled the road west of storage to @lazerdye's cabin / tunnel entrance. Found another tunnel along the way at the same height, so that worked out I guess. I see the line in the image but I'm going to start with the land south of the road first due to limited time and lower risk of cliff-related YASD.
For those wondering, this is the comment Nemo is referring to.
Sounds good. If you have other ideas of how to blend in the terrain, I am open to it. The end goal is to just return the area to looking like naturally generated terrain, just at a different height. Also, you are working on the west road, which is something I have less of a vision for, so feel free to try something different
Hi everyone! I have started a zoo south of town :) I'm currently building enclosures and thus far have a Fox enclosure (see u/Creesch 's screenshot!) and an Aviary with far too little parrots (but I found out they're bastards to get. I have 4 now and 3 tied to a post in the jungle, but I'd ideally have like 15 total or so... Ugh. If anyone wants to wrangle them, please feel free :p).
I'm thinking I either do Sniffers or Panda's next, if anyone has any preference let me know ;)
No idea how many I'll end up building but I'm enjoying myself and they're neat little projects each, so I'm enjoying it. Later I'll finally actually make my real build - but as is tradition, I take a quarter or two before I get around to it haha.
Parrots are probably a lot easier now with happy ghasts, just gotta be patient. I might do this myself actually just to see a happy ghast with a dozen parrots attached to it.:D
The problem isn't just the transfer unfortunately, the problem is also that the little shits spawn very little ugh, and you can't breed 'em.
But good one on using a happy ghast to move them, though it's ~1700 blocks away from where I need them to go, so a ghast would be very slow no?
I thought you could breed parrots no? They aren't too hard to find if you use xaeros minimap. And yeah, the happy ghast would be slow, but reliable.
No breeding :( and true - but the passive mob cap is 10, and jungles also spawn ocelots, wolves, chickens, turtles and sheep, ugh. So there's usually an absolute max of 2 maybe 3, and then you need to get those out of there because you'll have hit the passive mob cap after 10 minutes, sigh. Ask me how I know -__-
@Noox! look at them!
Yes I know 😭 They're so goddamned cute!!!
I have never really “gotten” Minecraft. But I feel like I’m missing out. What do you all get up to on this server? Is it to build things or more of a social experience where you meet people? I’d like to get it but it feels like it’s flying over my head.
Given you've said you don't really get Minecraft at the moment, I don't think this server would necessarily give you that "ah-ha" moment where it clicks. It's all still very self-driven which I know is not how everyone wants to play games.
At this moment in time, most of the activity on the server is people building their own things. Sometimes there will be larger community projects (Gravy's mall from last season, for instance), but these often end up being longer-runnning asynchronous projects rather than everyone-gets-together-to-do-a-thing-at-the-same-time. It feels a bit like playing singleplayer, but you can pop over to your neighbours' place to say hi and see what they're building in the back yard, or grab resources from one of the community farms that someone else built.
Of course nothing is stopping you from doing some tourism. The central town by spawn has a good number of buildings all in their own style, the industrial area nearby is a hodge-podge of different builds that produce various resources, and peoples' personal bases are well and truly under construction. And by coming in with the mindset of a tourist you can get a feel for the vibe without committing to anything.
Spreading Polish culture to the masses
Someone needs to start vending pivo griznie
Both! Some people log on and purely come in to work on their projects, maybe chat a bit. While others log on and just hang around a bit, maybe build here and there, explore builds people have made.
In fact, I have minecraft open as a sort of chat client. for which I even made a mod so I can chat with people in game while having it in the background.
I'd say, just log on a few times. Walk around, get a sense for it and see if you like it. We also have an interactive 3d map you can use to explore outside the game, get a sense of certain landmarks, etc.
And don't be afraid to ask questions in game. If there are people around (and they are paying attention to chat) they more than likely are willing to help out.
I think of Minecraft a bit like Legos, but you have to collect the pieces you need first. Everyone does their own thing, but some projects end up being community projects. Last season I built the shell of a shopping mall and gave everyone the option to claim a space to build shops. This season I'm extra ambitious, I'm building a giant flying cyberpunk-esque city with games/puzzles built in.
Is there a glow lichen farm yet? If not I'm going to tackle that as my first public farm.
Checking bluemap, there appears to be one in the industrial district beside the bee farm
So I have been experimenting more with roof designs, and after finalizing a roof design, it still didn't quite seem right, so I now have it narrowed down to two roof designs, and could use some input from others.
I have built out a sizeable chunk of the two designs, one on the north end (right side of building) and one on the south end (left side of building). I will provide screenshots, and some of my thoughts of the various angles.
Screenshot from road. This one you can see both roof designs, although the south end is barely visible. Honestly, this is what I consider the primary viewing angle, and I much prefer the north end. The low slope on the south just makes the roof invisible, while the north end has I feel a proportionate amount of roof.
Simulated elytra approach view. Honestly, with this view I feel like it is a bit of a toss up of which looks better. My concern with the steeper slope in the north is that this might become too much of one blob of colour once I do the full roof. But overall, I feel like both roofs look good from this angle.
Transit stop. It is worth noting that transit stop will move later on, but depending on how creesch reroutes the track, this angle may still be present as you approach via minecart. I feel like with this one, unsurprisingly, I slightly favour the north end, but relatively close competition.
Now to view the ends. South end, North end. For the north end, the screenshots are funky since I had to use freecam and go inside of blocks, since the north end is so close to the cliff at the moment. Here I strongly prefer the slope on the south end. I feel like it is the right amount of dark prismarine that it is a nice accent without being overpowering. Whereas with the north end, I feel like that is an in-ornate part of the build with it being such a large blank empty face. However, due to the complexities of that space, I am unsure of any details I could add to break up the prismarine, but I am open to suggestions if anyone has some.
In general, what are your thoughts on roof designs? Do you disagree with any of my thoughts or have potential improvements to suggest.
North end seems the better choice to me.
Looking at this page of roof types, I think something more like a jerkinhead roof would make the ends more interesting. Additionally I think adding some dormer windows would break up the long roof and height of the north end option, even if you cant see them inside the structure.
I second the north end with dormers, and maybe a central sort tower or dome?
Yeah, I have been pondering a central tower or dome. It might be tricky since the interior and exterior do not align properly
Jerkinhead seems funky, unsure how it would translate to minecraft, but I will think about it. Thanks for the suggestion
Dormer windows are a really solid idea, I might try and figure out if there is a good way to incorporate them. I am totally fine with windows not being visible from the inside, as most windows in storage will not be visible
Dormer windows lit from withing can also be a good solution to making the roof more spawn-resistant without directly lighting the roof itself.
oooh, good point. That adds another point to adding dormer windows if I can incorporate them. I was looking at the Lake Louise Hotel (has been a strong inspiration of this build) when trying to figure out the roof earlier on, and it has dormer windows.
One of my main goals this season was a 'free range' village for trading. When I found the castle, I knew this was going to be my base. After some work and some zombification, I finally have some good trades. Now, I can produce enchanted armor for 5-10 emeralds a piece. If anyone wants some specific enchantments, let me know. I can't really do netherite or armor trims at discounts, but I might offer trims for diamonds, as the armor is kinda plain.
Next, I'll look into low-cost pickaxes and swords.
@Bauke I found the missing piece for your collection. Deepslate Emerald Ore! I placed it on its display.
Ooh, yay! Thank you! :D
@bo0tzz the bonemeal farm broke and I am not quite sure how to fix it. Somehow cobblestone was created disrupting everything. If I had to guess it was caused by a server restart while it was active but I am not entirely sure. Do you think you will be able to have a look at it at some point?
I was on earlier this week and noticed, but didn't immediately see the issue from a quick look and I wasn't in the mood to dive in at the time.
I think there was some talk of restart detectors previously, right? Would that be worth working out first?
Possibly, @Isildursbane did some research there. We are running paper so can't use mods which automatically brings us to the datapack variant he found (this one). I'll
install thathave a closer look later today and see if it works.@Isildursbane I saw you mention this btw while looking up your suggestions.
I like the idea but to be frank, if you wanted automatic routing from industry to community storage we should have had better coordination at the start of the server to have them closer together. Having the entire area between them effectively chunkloaded with a steady stream of traffic is asking for FPS issues along the route. FPS in the industrial area is already lower, I can't imagine it will get better if we add a network of hoppers or minecarts to collect farm output. Not to mention that people might actually want to also be at the farms to collect output, though this could be solved by only transporting goods that are overflowing.
I have been considering a goods line, but that would work based on user input where the card would only run when people put things in it. Basically give the industrial area a dedicated manual storage input. That way we can easily keep storage stocked without a lot of the risks involved with tps lag.
I don't know Isildur's plans, but the way I envisioned it is that the payload is a chest minecart full of shulkers. That can carry such a volume that the minecart line to storage would probably only need to be chunkloaded for a few minutes per day.
That could work, still leaves the logistical nightmare of routing all farm output to it and the question if that is desirable to do. I am not trying to shut down the idea entirely. Like I said, I had the idea of doing similar but with manual input allowing individuals to restock community storage from the industrial district. Which, I get, is less exciting than an automated solution but would make it a whole lot more reliable.
Whatever ends up being done, it does require some good planning and consideration for the impact.
I just had a closer look at the datapack and I am not entirely sure if this is what we want. Specifically this
This means that we need to know how many blocks are placed before restarting the server. Which doesn't seem ideal to me.
The restart detector mod is a much better fit, but can't be used since we run paper. Functionally though it doesn't seem that complex, so I might have a crack at porting it to a datapack if I can't find something else.
We already have a bunch of water streams that are doing a decent job, right? Or do we not want to fill the area with those :P
If the current options don't work out I'd also be down to have a go at writing a plugin for this. It's been about a decade since I've done any of that, but it's not rocket surgery so it should be fine ;)
I saw where this reply was first :P
That seems a bit too much :P If we do anything with water streams we probably want one underground stream where farms can route towards. And then also add "full" detectors like on the cactus farm. Then the whole logic for filling up shulkers, filling the cart and then only send the cart off when it is full. It can all work, but it also has a high potential for being fragile and annoying to debug.
But, I feel like we probably can start with my manual idea and at some point retool it to automatic if we really want to.
Datapacks are relatively straightforward, already fixed one and made a very simple one for the server. But, in this case we probably want a paper plugin that intercepts the
/stopand/restartcommands to make it work with the server setup as is and also make it less likely that tea or me messes up when we type one of those commands. With a paper plugin we can get fairly close to the restart detector mod. Except that creating custom blocks with plugins is a challenge (understatement). For performance reasons we want to look at entity blocks and ideally those that already can do a redstone signal. Something like a daylight sensor with a gold block placed on top would work. It would not work with flying contraptions, but other than that I think I can make it work pretty much the same as that mod.
That was kind of my plan, but it would be a bit complicated to initially set up. It was why I have not tackled it yet, and my plan was for it to be a collaborative effort, since it will require various technical solutions to provide resiliency. I think once it is running, it would probably be pretty stable. Shulker loaders by themselves don't have a large tendency of breaking
So the solution is to not have a constant stream of items, but to have it be batched. As @bo0tzz mentioned, probably the best system would be to shulker load items.
Maybe that is an indication that we should consider building a secondary industrial district? If we had them all routing to storage, we could minimize impact by building several smaller districts along the transport line. However, not sure if that would be a good idea or not.
I also think some of the issues with lag may be amplified with local storage overflowing. Bamboo is probably the worst offender where storage is full so there are always a large amount of items just sitting on the ground
My thought on this would be to only route passive farms to storage. Things like tree farms that need player input should be kept via local storage. Plus, you could add a lockout switch, to have items pool up locally
In that case I'd suggest we do it based on overflow mechanisms. Like with the cactus farm where it fills a chest first and only when that chest is full things flow towards the composter.
I might also have slightly broken something with the pale/dark oak farm. I noticed that I didn't get enough saplings back to keep it going and in the process accidentally had a little flood near the dropper and filter hopper.I think it is put together in the way it was. But I am not entirely sure. All fixed to what it was before.
Do you have the schematic still for the bonemeal farm? If so, can you send it to me? I tried to restore it earlier today with coreprotect since somehow the tree farm was blown up. But that made a mess with the lava and water somehow.
I'd like to restore that mess.
Yeah, here you go! https://bo0.tz/u/YgaJQr.litematic
I still have all the other schematics hoarded too, so happy to share whatever.
Is there a known location for a Pale Garden on the server? I find myself intensely curious about Creakings and Resin Bricks.
There is a small one near the sand duper machine I've been using to manually farm resin. It's SE of town.
I see it on bluemap, thanks!
Does anyone have good tips for mob proofing large roofs? In particular, I am playing around with a sloped dark prismarine roof. Just doing bottom slabs or stairs do not seem like a viable strategy with the type of slope I want
I had this same problem recently, and I integrated trapdoors over top of froglights as a solution.
Not a bad idea, although I forgot to mention my personal pet peeve of disliking brightly lit roofs. @TaylorSwiftsPickles mentioned in game that glow lichen might blend in well, so I may try that first
I forgot about glow lichen! I might use that going forward myself.
@GravySleeve I noticed you put a beacon in front of community storage. What were your plans with that?
That's your loaner for terraforming. I went and got 3 more this morning so no rush getting it back.
