Genuine question—does anyone here care? Not that Tildes is a good sample size of the population. Not a knock on you OP, I just can’t help but feel that the zeitgeist is pivoting aggressively away from Marvel and superhero movies in general, and we’re seeing it in real time. Going the way of the western… and disco (which coincidentally is having a massive resurgence right now)

I still do, and still enjoy most of Marvel's content. Star Wars too. DC I'm a bit less enthused about, although I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the new Flash movie. But I'm also a massive comic book nerd, and have been for decades, so I'm probably not representative of the general population here on Tildes, or at large.
However, the biggest reason I don't post Marvel or Star Wars related content on Tildes anymore, or comment in many Marvel/Star Wars related topics here, is because I am sick and tired of everyone else constantly shitting on them, and by extension on me for enjoying them. Every trailer that gets posted here, all people ever seem to talk about now is how it looks like shit, Disney sucks, new Star Wars content sucks, new Marvel content sucks, etc. Which makes having a discussion as an actual fan of that content way more difficult, annoying, and risks starting arguments I have no interest in participating in.
p.s. A bit offtopic, but I also really don't understand why you keep posting Marvel trailers here, @cloud_loud, especially since it feels like you're one of the biggest Marvel haters on this site. It's honestly starting to feel like you're flamebait trolling by posting these trailers alongside all your comments hating on Marvel content, and all the other articles you post doing the same.

Funnily enough I happened to see the trailer post on YouTube pretty early on but I didn't want to make a post because I'm also tired of the negativity.
The issue with so much negativity (without substance) is that it stifles conversation and community building. I personally have so many interests (like fashion) that I'd love to talk about but it's exhausting when people come in and just "oh I don't care about this" and then it's just like okay but how does this contribute to the conversation? Why would anyone post in that kinda environment, or stick around to maybe make the community more unique? It's a problem with a lot of online communities in general and why even though everything is within a search away, things feel so insular.

Yeah, I don't go to theaters often anymore either (am agoraphobic, which makes that particular environment a struggle for me). And my interest in Marvel/Star Wars has waned a bit over the years too, but mostly because it's hard to keep up with absolutely everything being released nowadays, and certain new movies/shows aren't my particular cup of tea to begin with. E.g. Ms Marvel, She Hulk, etc. But I'm not really the intended audience for a lot of it either, so despite it not being my particular cup of tea, I try not to shit on it, or on anyone that did enjoy them.

p.s. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed Ms Marvel and She Hulk too, but I also simply couldn't relate to the experiences portrayed in them nearly as much as I did to those in something like Legion, Moon Knight, or WandaVision. Which all hit incredibly close to home for me, having been hospitalized myself several times over the years due to mental health issues.
I fully agree, more representation is better. I also love MK and WV, in particular for similar mental health based reasons. I also appreciate when every story doesn't have to mesh into the larger...

I also appreciate when every story doesn't have to mesh into the larger story. Characters can come back (or not) but every story doesn't have to pull in other characters just exist in this big world.

This is fair, and I feel bad about my comment now. It was an unfair way to phrase a topic that’s already being discussed into oblivion. Not adding to the discourse and not even doing it in the nicest way.
I left the comment out of frustration for the fact that I would still be a massive marvel fan if it still felt like they cared about quality, but again—this opinion is nothing new. I will say, Guardians 3 was great as were a handful of other things recently.
A better, more unique (maybe) and more discussion-focused question: do you guys think the genre is fading, and if it is, could it survive if things change? If it does fade—do you think there will be a resurgence in the future, sort of a retro/nostalgia kind of thing, in the way that Tarantino treats old Hollywood/Westerns?
No need to feel bad. I'm sure you didn't mean to hurt anyone's feeling by asking the question. Sorry for kinda venting at you (and @cloud_loud) too, BTW. This has just been a bit of a sore spot...

Sorry for kinda venting at you (and @cloud_loud) too, BTW. This has just been a bit of a sore spot for me that's been building up over the years as more and more negativity has taken over every Marvel and Star Wars related discussion. Don't get me wrong, I get where people are coming from, and do understand the complaints (even though I don't always agree with them). But I also just wish more people would let some of their endless negativity go, and allow others to occasionally have a more positive space to geek out, talk about their excitement for upcoming projects, and discuss the things they enjoy about these movies/shows, without having to wade through a sea of negativity to do that.
As for whether I think the superhero genre is fading, yeah probably a bit. But the fact that they keep making more superhero movies/shows, and they generally still keep getting decent viewing numbers, and making money, makes me suspect the superhero genre will probably never truly disappear, at least not anytime soon. The releases will probably eventually just get a bit fewer and further between to give people more breathing room though.
I mean I'll proably watch it eventually. I feel like comments like this are so counterproductive though. Like why not let people who enjoy it chat about it? If no one cares, it'll fall off the...
I mean I'll proably watch it eventually. I feel like comments like this are so counterproductive though. Like why not let people who enjoy it chat about it? If no one cares, it'll fall off the front page anyways, it's easier to just hit ignore for topics that you don't care about.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I still really enjoy superhero movies. For certain genre of movies, the only criteria I have is "did I enjoy it?". That is, it's more of a pass/fail instead...

That is, it's more of a pass/fail instead of some letter grade or percentage. People like what they like. I've long stopped wondering why people like certain things. As long as it doesn't hurt me or other people, who cares right? I get the feeling that you're not judging, just curious.
What If is my platonic ideal of the MCU, similar to Visions for Star Wars. No homework, no lore, just someone else's interpretation of their characters and how they interact with the world.

In fact, I would wager Marvel is still bigger than 99% of what gets posted, not that there's anything wrong with not being the absolute most popular media franchise to begin with.
It seems like a bizarre question to even ask in good faith.

My only real beef is how they're allowed to just drop the link without commentary or expansion. I feel it's drive-by posting. If something's important enough (to you) to post, it should be important enough for you to be able to add at least a few paragraphs of why it was important enough to post. Did it raise a question you're looking to discuss, or highlight something interesting, or whatever?
And I do think self-linking shouldn't be allowed. Anything important enough to post here should be posted here, not linked to your blog, substack, medium, or similar.

Jumping in with a few others as well. This is one of those that I was looking forward to, especially with how much I enjoyed Loki Season 2

eh a little. What if 1 was fun, but the general decline in quality across the board leaves me apathetic to another season.
Hey I’m not offended. I just post links.

What if..? Disney drove Marvel IP into the ground
