I got an invite to participate in the IPO. I'm a longtime Reddit user with a few hundred thousand in karma.

I pre-registered for it mainly out of curiosity, but I'm extremely doubtful that I would actually buy any shares. I long ago realized that I don't have the expertise or attention span to effectively invest in individual stocks, so I stick with mutual funds and ETFs. Seems like most social media stocks tank after IPO anyway.

The 40 Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings (Part 1)

Rob Liefeld is one of the most successful, recognizable, well-known and popular comic book artists in history despite being difficult to work with, egotistical, contrary and missing deadlines on a consistent basis. He has made more money than most of us will ever see in our lifetimes. He still cannot draw a foot.

I can't speak for either of course, but it's noteworthy to me that the hearings are happening at all.

Probably they're happening, in part, because a good sized chunk of the public is eager to believe in government coverups, allowing politicians to position themselves as swamp drainers for those voters.

I am suspicious because these nonsense "hearings" are being held by the Republican-controlled House, the same party who is asking us to believe, despite a veritable mountain of evidence to the contrary, that Trump actually won the 2020 election, the January 6th insurrection was just a group of overly-friendly tourists, and the myriad criminal charges against Trump are imaginary. These days it's in the GOP's best interest for people to distrust the government and to deny science and rationality.

    Don’t.

It’s a real pain to put up, and even worse to take down when you inevitably get tired of it.

Paint instead. You’ll thank yourself later.

If you need to replace them, consider getting combination carbon monoxide/smoke detectors - CO is scary and kills quickly.

Speaking of bugs, get on a regular maintenance plan with a local exterminator and get periodic barrier sprays done around the house to prevent infestations. Termites and carpenter ants can do a huge amount of costly damage to a house before you even realize they're there - the best cure is prevention.

Nothing wrong with that - you're saving a lot of money on rent (and hopefully putting that cash in the bank or investments for the future), plus you're there to help your parents around the house....

I don't understand it - I enjoy most other kinds of fish and seafood, and I don't think of myself as a picky eater.

I'd be willing to bet that the drop in mass transit riders is less about people driving in cars and more about people working from home who no longer have to commute into the city (I'm one of...

The MTA needs the additional riders. While subway usage has steadily increased since its pandemic-lows, weekday subway ridership is about 70% of 2019 levels, according to MTA data. And systemwide ridership may only reach 80% of pre-pandemic usage by the end of 2026, the transit agency estimates.

I'd be willing to bet that the drop in mass transit riders is less about people driving in cars and more about people working from home who no longer have to commute into the city (I'm one of them, thank God).

    Nice list. I'd also suggest:

    • KeePass Password Safe - An excellent secure, free, open source password vault. I've used it for years - I couldn't function without it. I sync my KeePass password database from my Google Drive to three different PCs (2 Windows, 1 Linux), my tablet and my phone.

    • 7-Zip File Archiver - Much better than handling .zip/.rar archives via Windows Explorer.

    • IrfanView - Extremely full-featured image file viewer/converter/manager with image editing capabilites as well.

    • Foobar2000 - Simple but powerful audio/mp3 file player and manager.

    • MPC-HC - Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (clsid2 fork) - VLC is an excellent video player, but I still prefer MPC-HC's simpler interface. Happily, after years of the project sitting idle, MPC-HC is now being updated again.
