The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
Thought I'd update everyone on the PVP arena.
Right now it is more or less functional. The only bits I need to finish are the mob ejectors and associated controller (which I am currently working on) and crafting all equipment. The mob ejectors have been taking forever and I'm not sure I will be able to get them to work exactly how I want. Not sure if it's due to insufficient spawnproofing or I screwed up some aspect of the design. It's also difficult to troubleshoot because just like in quantum physics, you change the system by observing it - physically going down into the spawner changes mob spawning patterns and mob behavior. I think I'll ultimately just accept the imperfections and move on, in the end.
Anyway, I will go back and test each module again, and if it's all working, I would like to do a test run of actual combat. I figure might uncover some more issues and it's better to look at them before I go through the effort of building the 'shell' around all the outlying redstone
Finally there's the matter of constructing the 'shell', and decorating everything. I have a decent idea for the general outer building - I'm going to need calcite, white concrete powder, some diorite, spruce logs (unstripped), some dark oak planks to match the unstripped spruce color, and a whole bunch of waxed copper slabs for the roof. I have no idea how much of each is necessary but if you have a few stacks to donate, it will certainly help me out. I've never been much good at interior design, so if someone feels like they could pretty up the locker rooms, spawn rooms, hallways, entrances, etc. I would appreciate the help.
This is a perfect use case for the freecam mod. Mobs won't get blocked when you fly down with the camera and you can actually see what's happening.
Is the freecam mod allowed on the server?
You can use pretty much any mods that don’t negatively affect other players. I think x-ray mods (for finding ores) might be an exception to that. Although I’m not really trying to catch people using that. It’s just the wrong vibe for the server.
It can't really be used as an x-ray mod for finding ores. It is extremely nice for making nice screenshots and sometimes for big projects.
On Modrinth the version is limited so you cannot clip through walls. So if you do want some features but not have it be completely OP (which I understand) you can consider using that one.
A version of freecam is built into the tweakaroo mod, and I've been using it without issue.
You should have enough calcite for now :P I went mining for it and saw you already had half a chest full when I dumped my half a chest into yours ;)
As I said yesterday, I did still see a bunch of dark spots yesterday. Although not a lot and small in size I can take a stab at also lighting those?
There is a bunch of calcite at x:2281, z:-593.
Good thing that there are trial chambers below the arena, should make that a bunch easier.
I'll start mining some of the stuff this week as well.
I just cleared a small chunk of a trial chamber for a small project and I have a few stacks left over if you want. It's in the attic of my house in town, bottom right chest against the wall. Labeled "Copper", can't miss it.
Super excited to try some PvP! Have you considered adding lava pits?
I've already incorporated lava pits. If you were taking a look and don't see them, it's because they're closed on the control panel.

I found the iron farm almost empty several times now. I am not sure if everyone is aware, but it requires someone to be around to have it chunk loaded.
So, if you are using a lot of iron it is appreciated if you also stand at the AFK spot for a while :)

The Lime Line's first station is now functional, going from the transit hub to the iron farm south of town center. The plan is to continue the line all the way to the PVP arena, although I make no guarantees on when it will be completed. Feel free to pitch in if you want to decorate or add onto the line!

So, the PVP arena is ready to be play-tested. I need four other players, but it's hard to predict exactly when a lot of people will be on the server. Right now it's just me and j0hn.
This makes me think in the future maybe we can do a regular, weekly series of battles. Or just have like a sign-up sheet of some kind. This would also help make sure that there's enough equipment handy for all of this.
I'm also going to write-up a protocol for setting up arena games so that people can do that regardless of whether I'm online. I'll post that in the next weekly thread most likely, but I'll also put it in a book/lectern thing in game.
Well, I know I'd at least try to make it if we had a weekly tourney scheduled!

I've gotten a bit more work done on my volcano. I still gotta add some custom palm trees and figure out how I'm gonna connect my rail lines to the metro, but other than that the exterior is pretty much done. Figuring out how the interior will come together is gonna be tricky, but I made some progress in the last few days. I might post some screenshots, but I think it'll be cooler if people experience it in-game when it's done rather than see it half baked. I'll post some screenshots of the exterior in the next day or so once I have the palm trees in.

@ThrowdoBaggins would you mind if I expand the storage room of the Guardian Farm? Due to the storage being full the filter system is being jammed.
Feel free to — I haven’t been on in a while and my most recent attempts to design an auto-crafter have hit some roadblocks, so I never actually finalised it. I think my intention was to automatically trash/destroy the runoff that didn’t fit into chests, but haven’t implemented that yet.
Just keep in mind, I don’t think prismarine is popular enough to require more than a double chest or maybe a few shulkers, so it might be better to just eliminate the runoff rather than expanding the amount of storage capacity available?
Instead of thrashing it, maybe making lights out of it first would be nice. I have used them a bunch, and having a steady supply of them would be extremely nice.
That was the bit I was struggling to auto-craft. Making sure the shards and crystals flow into the autocrafter in just the right order to make the right shape is what I’ve been working on, and I’ve got a system that works but isn’t robust. Even a small interruption ends up breaking the sequence.

Not all changes get logged. If there's no record, it probably wasn't from a player.
Thought about it a little more and, following some testing, I concluded that it must have been the snow golem from the slime farm. Snowballs break decorated pots, so a stray snowball must have been yeeted from the slime farm towards my poor rubbish bin, which caused it to break and despawn.
I shall be filing a formal complaint to the OSHA about this, @GravySleeve!!1!!!11!

Is this in reference to missing items/blocks? Gravy noticed a random block missing from the incinerator in community storage, and most (but not all) of the item frames in my storage room suddenly went missing.....
Indeed, I noticed that the decorated pot with a sign slapped on top, which I was using as a (decorative) "rubbish bin" for the mushroom embassy, suddenly disappeared without a trace.
/co inspectand/co nearsadly returned no information. It says I placed the block, it says nothing about anyone removing it.I figured out the missing log mystery. Fire spread is on, so the lava from my incinerator was burning it. In fact some other logs burned and I haven't had a chance to fix them yet.
I'm not sure how fire started in my storage room, but, otherwise, that hypothesis seems to fit all observations.
j/k on everything I've said. I just logged in again, and they've all reappeared, so either an anti-fire occurred, or they were just invisible before?
I've seen that happen before. Sometimes you need to relog to get entities to appear.
Hey @Evie, wanna hear a funny story? I was in the Hall of Heroes showing @Bront how the armor stands work. I had just told them how it's very very important to make sure you lock your armor stands.....do you know where this story is going?....I told them once it's locked it won't be so easy to accidentally destroy.....and I gave your armor stand a few quick punches.....I tried to match it up to my memory as best I could but you know how tricky it can be to replicate an exact pose. Sorry, don't kill me! I'm already at 103! Sorry! Sorry!

Don't be too impressed. I'm at the point now where I'm collecting player heads to decorate with. @Bendvis helped liberate my head from my shoulders a few dozen times. He got really efficient at it by the end. I'm at 133 now.
Well, it seems I'm an idiot. I thought for sure locking them stopped them from being so easily destroyed. It only prevents taking their items and adjusting them with the book.
Edit: And yet punching my own armor stand in the hall does not destroy it. Not sure what that's all about.
You do have to punch it a few times in quick succession to break it? My stands were locked for sure!

I'm not sure whats going on, when I punch my armor stand it doesn't move at all. I haven't had a chance to do any further tests yet.
I did some tests yesterday. Locking my armour stands didn't prevent me from killing them (it took a few consecutive hits to break it, though) but making it invisible kind of soft-prevented me from being able to find its hitbox. Also, putting multiple armour stands near each other made it harder to destroy them, I guess because the hitboxes conflicted with each other when I was hitting them.
On a tangentially related note, yesterday night I also added the Shroomlandians in one of the pedestals of the hall of heroes. Feel free to check it out, but do note that I accidentally messed up with one of the quartz slabs behind my pedestal and I'll have to fix it today with a piston
That must be it then, I used 3 armor stands to make my statue, and 2 of them are invisible.

Does anyone use the Guardian Farm for the uncooked fish? I am wondering since I plan on setting up an auto cooker to cook the fish.
I set up chests at the guardian farm for cooked and raw of each type that drops. I think if your sword has flaming (or whatever the enchantment is called) then it automatically cooks whatever fish the guardians drop? Plus looting if you really want a lot of it!
It's nice to have fish for cat breeding, but it's not necessarily something we need a ton of.
Would there be people who use the cooked fish? Most people have a food source already with the various farms in town
I am using it as my food source.
You could add a switch to toggle between cooked and raw fish. That way if someone needs raw fish for cat breeding they can easily get some
It's not a terribly good food source, but it looks cool in the offhand.
Technically I have an unlimited food source (mushroom stew from my mooshrooms), but when I'm outside Shroomlandia (which is pretty often, tbh) or travelling, I tend to grab food from the "free food" town chest because mushroom stew doesn't stack. And there's hella fish in the free food chest :P
