I watched a little bit, but currently in emergency hospital for my father. From what I saw, most of these new games are beautiful and seem to be a tonne of fun with very smooth and fluid combat systems. Happy to see more independent studios and original IP than just sequels or remakes (as I was more apt to expect).
Happy to see that Bluepoint is doing the Demon's Souls remake. I was very impressed with their Shadow of the Colossus remake, and I'm excited to see what they bring forward here. Some of the...

This will be the first console generation that I don't buy a new console within the first couple of years because of everything that happened this past gen. Between so many PS4 exclusives suddenly coming onto PC and mid-generation upgraded versions, I'll hold out and see what happens. Who knows, maybe this will be on PC after all.
I can see this being like the expansion slot or USB port on the ps2 and there for future expandability. Such as external drives fast enough for what they plan to do with SSDs. Or as you suggested,...

It could also hardly be used like the ps2 expansion slot. Did you know you could install a HDD in one?

The PS5 looks like something from the future, or at least like what someone in the 1960s imagined how the future would look like (I’m paraphrasing a Kotaku article). It’s bold and will probably age badly, but I don’t care. The new Xbox is a black slab of boringness. Elegant but uninteresting, like an office desktop computer. The PS5 is cool, “edgy”, and will never be mistaken for a VCR.
imo a console should look uninteresting. Its not meant to be a centre of attention, its meant to fit in nicely with the rest of the room which the xbox does and the ps4 does. ps5 owners will...

Kena looks very charming, like a combination of Zelda and Pikmin. I'm into it. The new Horizon looks beautiful too. This might just be my favorite franchise to come out of this console generation....

Other notable hits were Deathloop and the new SpiderMan. I'm also very interested in this cat game. Annapurna has come a very long way if they're at this level of AAA already. I still have no idea what this game is supposed to be though.
Returnal also looks interesting. Terrible name aside, it gives me a strong Dead Space vibe.
As for the console itself my feelings are. . . mixed. I don't know if I'm into this "stormtrooper chic" styling that's happening these days, but I fear it might just be the defining aesthetic of the 2020s. It's happening in cars too.
If I had one thing to say about the trailers I saw, it would be stunning. Everything just looks visually stunning, and being recorded on a PS5 gives me hope the actual games will look similar....

I get that GTA V is the money spinner for R*, and I fully expect them to port it onto PS5, but did people really need an announcement for it? Because all it makes me think is "what about Red Dead Redemption 2?" I know RDR2 hasn't been as successful for R* as GTA V (and it shows through announcements like these and the fact that the PC port has been pretty terrible).
I didn't find the PC port to be bad at all but even though I have 500+ hours in GTAV online, I refuse to play RDR2 simply because it doesn't have private servers. I hate the griefing that happens...

I hate the griefing that happens in Rockstar's online games, and my limited 2 hours of RDR Online involved so many griefers that I couldn't do anything at all. I've hung it up until private servers are available.
That's fair enough. After trying GTA V once and spending about half an hour min to join a game I'm forever scarred for life from R*'s open world multiplayer games. I know RDR2 is different, but I...

I know RDR2 is different, but I just do not feel inspired at all to put myself through that.

Highlights for me were probably Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Little Devil Inside, but there were quite a few other ones that look great too.
Little Devil Inside looks great. Gives me big Breath of the Wild vibes.

I just re-watched Into the Spiderverse, so I am beyond stoked to be able to play as Miles Morales in the next Spider-Man.

That looks incredible. I so wish I could play this on PC. I'm not a console player at all, but perhaps it'll make its way over, one day.

It seems the next gen will finally bring individual stone rendering of cobblestone.
Interesting to see that the console has thunderbolt on the front IO. I wonder what peripherals might make use of all of that bandwidth.
I would wager VR. Maybe allows for an additional processing unit as well?
Yeah that makes sense. Other high bandwidth peripherals would make more sense plugged into the back.

Xbox Series X vs. PS5
Yep!
It looks like someone at PS is a Zaha Hadid fan.
Tbf not many kids would recognize a vcr let alone confuse an Xbox or PlayStation for one.
That was rhetorical my friend.

Oh well, at least it was funny.
