The idea of a supernatural thriller that’s also a superhero movie seems pretty novel, and I would like to see where Sony goes to get. Both Marvel and Sony have tried this before with pre-MCU movies, Doc Strange 2, Morbius, but maybe this time a director can cut loose with the spooky and not have to reign it in for brand synergy. Guy can dream, right?
I really want to love Sony's Spider-Man Universe. I mean, who doesn't love Spider-Man? I've yet to actually watch any of the movies though with just how bad they all look, and this isn't an exception.

The animated spider verse ones are gooooooooood. Art style alone is worth the watch. Can't speak to any of the other stuff though. I am super heroed out. I watched for the animation. So from...

So from someone who doesn't give a shit about spiderman universe or hero shit in general, and wasn't expecting much, I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Also really enjoyed the soundtrack.
Those films are great! But they are not part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony%27s_Spider-Man_Universe The films released so far that are are Venom, Venom #2, and...

I don’t trust them to pull it off even half decently given Venom 2. The trailer feels very cookie cutter and I can’t help but wonder if there was a script they just wrapped in marvel skin for this

I like that Billie Eilish song they used but the rest of the trailer kinda clashes with it. I'm not sold on the premise or the characters either. I'm not super familiar with Madame Web but the...

I'm not sold on the premise or the characters either. I'm not super familiar with Madame Web but the stuff I saw with her was in the 90s Spider-man cartoon and it went totally off the wall with alternate futures and crossovers.
I'm also pretty sure she was a fairly older woman, and did not tout her physicality. This was an opportunity to have an older actress filing the roal of a mysterious fortune teller. Instead we...

Instead we have another confused twenty something. I'm not sure if it's just getting old, or if I am. Either way I'll probably stream it when it's out because the writer/director intrigues me.
After watching that I can definitely say that certainly is a movie trailer. And I know it's just a very brief sample size but Sydney Sweeney seemed to phone in her lines.

It's a movie trailer that seems to spoil everything but the very ending, I don't like that style at all. Tease us, don't show every action piece beforehand.

I think it looks pretty terrible tbh

The films released so far that are are Venom, Venom #2, and Morbius. This movie, a Kraven movie, and a third Venom movie are coming out next.
If you've seen Across the Spider-Verse they kind-of are.
That's weird, it is made by Sony. I would have thought it would connect somehow.

From a different article:
I'm willing to give the movie some extra benefit of the doubt based on this.
I would not include The Defenders in any promotional advertising, personally...
Fair enough. JJ was a mostly good show and defenders had other issues. Hopefully the trailer just sucks
Clarkson is at the very least a competent director, she’s done tons of TV work.

Dakota Johnson is 34. Far from "older woman", but not a "confused 20-something" anymore either.
I'll admit that I actually Googled Sydney Sweeney, one of her costars, instead of her, so you got me.

That doesn't look very good, honestly. It feels like the bad half of Marvel phase 4.
