I’m curious how this one will go and I’m fine with the series doing well either way, but I hope it delivers better.
I watched them both on release, and re-watched them 3-4 months ago. Knives Out is just as enjoyable on rewatch because knowing the twist does not change the characters motivations (except one)....

Knives Out is just as enjoyable on rewatch because knowing the twist does not change the characters motivations (except one). The editing is excellent, so you don't need a rewatch to see things you might have missed.
Glass Onion is structured very differently, and knowing the twist totally changes the movie. It's not as solid as Knives Out, but it's lighter and I found it more enjoyable on rewatch.
For me it wasn't about the twist - it was things like watching "The Disrupters" smash things and get in on it, until it went too far and then they tried to pull back, while Helen goes all in....

But like, all of those little things throughout. It's up there with Knives out when the family is listing all the different places that they think the nurse is from while treating her like a maid despite calling her family (but not allowing her at the funeral), etc.

I think they're so clever, they're just not doing the same thing in each movie which maybe impacts how people feel about the second one
Same, my family and I had a blast watching it. Especially the climax, there was something so satisfying about all the destruction. It was so gloriously petty, I was actually whooping and clapping....

I guess part of it is that people are comparing it to the first one, rather than on its own merits?
I can definitely see why someone would prefer Knives Out to it by a larger margin than I do, but I am perpetually a little baffled by people who love the first movie but hate Glass Onion. Easy...

It's just...not a good film in my eyes. It feels like a mix of Star Trek shows vs Star Trek movies (hey the solution is illogical mcguffin violence!), it's not a very interesting mystery movie...

It feels like a mix of Star Trek shows vs Star Trek movies (hey the solution is illogical mcguffin violence!), it's not a very interesting mystery movie (literally gives it away multiple times and also uses annoying cliches that are rightfully not loved in mysteries), LeBlanc is objectively a bad person but it's ok because the story says he's not (oh hey lets risk this persons life again), and it's poorly paced.
I'm not a huge fan of "lol lets take a group of people I don't like and just constantly point out how stupid they are" as a genre to begin with, but even if that's what I was looking for, i can do better than Glass Onion. Beyond that, there's almost a decent plot in there of "Detective overthinks something" but it's just surrounded by this insanely inelegant mess of a script.
EXTREMELY hype. I hope this one gets at least a theatrical release like Glass Onion did, I absolutely lived for the experience of seeing it in theaters. I've watched each of the other two films...
EXTREMELY hype. I hope this one gets at least a theatrical release like Glass Onion did, I absolutely lived for the experience of seeing it in theaters. I've watched each of the other two films more times than I can count, and I love them both dearly, so it's highly likely I'll like this one. It's just a matter of degree.
I also guess we've got confirmation that Jeremy Renner isn't playing himself lol.
I'm not sure if Edward Norton really counts as MCU. Technically, but his movie came out before the MCU was planned and then he got recast for all future Hulk appearances.

I mean I wouldn't suggest that they're the online equivalent of a street vendor burning you a disc but with actual art on them so they can charge you twenty bucks ...

Glass Onion hasn't had a physical release, unfortunately. I presume if the third film ever gets one, they'd both get one together, but the odds of that happening soon seem a little slim.

I don’t think it’s terrible myself. But I did see the twist coming right from the start.

It’s interesting how many people dislike Glass Onion. I loved it, it was top 5 for me of 2022

I enjoyed Glass Onion but the pacing is really not great. Knives Out is a significant tier above it though.

So on the casting choices…
Spoiler for Knives Out Onion
If Jeremy’s character did that would make 3 Avengers from the MCU killers in this franchise.I'm not sure if Edward Norton really counts as MCU. Technically, but his movie came out before the MCU was planned and then he got recast for all future Hulk appearances.
continued spoilers
I think the presence of a Nick Fury cameo makes it close enough to the MCU to count, even if its canon status is dubious.

Glass onion was absolutely terrible but the first one was so good I am willing to overlook that fact.
Looking forward to this one!

You can find blu rays of glass onion on eBay.
I'm sure they're fully legitimate and have no questionable provenance
From blu-ray.com. "No Release Date." I didn't know eBay had time-traveling sellers!
Edit: /s in case it wasn't clear.
