I screamed when I heard about this last night. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to play it yet.

It wasn't online, but one of my coworkers told us about what he was doing for his kids. He got up early, put on the barbecue and made burgers, then woke them up for dinner and a movie.

    [serious: no fun allowed zone]

I thought the internet as a whole had kind of reached a consensus that 'april fool' intentional misinformation posts were shit and overplayed, so we had started to see a shift to people creating fun toy instead - like reddit r/place. What happened with that? We're slipping back?

On my end and to fight back, I've started using April 1st as my go-to date to create things and start huge projects. In that spirit, today is the official opening date of my girlfriend's ceramics workshop, which we've been working on for months! :)

I don't disagree. Mean spirited shenanigans are cruel and not cool. My impression of the general consensus was that the pandemic led to people not reacting well the last several years. Given that the demographics of the internet that would consider participating skew strongly towards the US and that the US seems to have largely decided that if we close our eyes it can't hurt us, it doesn't surprise me that April Fools is coming back to some degree.

I posted the link that I did because I thought it was an exceptional example and because I'm adjacent enough to the industry side of game design that I wasn't entirely convinced that it wasn't nonsense for an embarrassingly long time. (Seriously, the combination of "I may not be the audience for this video" and "huh, I guess that's a new piece of jargon for me. I wonder how it's used" is insidious)

I thought the Starbucks Oleato video was James Hoffman's April Fools video. /s This one's pretty good.

Again, coffee machines don't have clicky birds. You could argue that that's a flaw with coffee machines.

I didn't see this video in my feed until today, and I'm going to admit that I was just about fooled for the first few minutes. It wasn't until I looked down in the comments a few minutes in that I realized I'd been had. Really good video, and I'm always amused by Ian's deadpan delivery in his April Fool's Day videos.

This is dangerous; it’s so tongue in cheek that I am certain people who come across it will take it seriously.

I don't know if anyone else has been following the development of Skyblivion (mod remaking Oblivion in Syrim), but this is a fun teaser for the project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAYSxFOxpMQ

Guild Wars 2 does some joke patch notes every year that I like. This year though, part 1 is an actual feature added to the game that people are having fun with.
