Eh, I think there's room for more limited live service games like Deep Rock Galactic or Helldivers. Games that don't require you to no-life them and grind, but that you can play casually and revisit when new content comes out. I think it remains to be seen whether Firebreak will have the staying power, but I could see it doing pretty well.

Does PhPBB support comment tree/threaded replies? The biggest problem with legacy style forums is that any level of off topic conversation or an argument between two people could make a thread very difficult to follow. This is a definite weakness of Discord, too, but I just can't imagine going back to traditional forums with no comment trees.

I didn't have too much trouble with Gardens of the Moon, because there are enough characters and concepts that you clearly don't have the full background on that I was able to just kind of let the vibe of the book carry me through the end. Later books definitely rely on you understanding the world and characters a little better (or maybe that was just my expectation of myself) and got a little more difficult for me to push through, though.

Maybe the problem was that I didn't stick with it long enough to get out of the tutorial area, but honestly the game just seemed to really want to waste my time. I've had a lot of issues playing games that have very long cutscenes or tons of dialogue as I've gotten older and busier - I tend to want games that get to the damn point. Hemingway not Faulkner, if that makes any sense.

Also, "Die Hardman" was objectively funny and made me laugh, but the tone of the game was so serious that I just couldn't get a handle on what the hell it was going for, lol.

I could not stand this game. I got 2 or 3 hours in and if I had to guess, probably half or more of that time involved the most clumsily written, batshit crazy cutscenes I've ever seen. I really wanted to like it. I like weird, atmospheric shit. But apparently I'm just not really on board with Kojima's brand of crazy any more.

On the other hand, I do actually feel like a film version of this could be a lot better. It'll be filtered through a director and presumably some less unhinged scriptwriters, and honestly the part of the game I played seemed to be halfway to a movie anyway.

Edit: I just realized this comment might come across as kind of hostile, so I apologize if that's the case 😅. I just really didn't get Death Stranding.

As for the gif search, I'm glad it exists because I use signal on desktop fairly frequently and it doesn't have a gif selector, so I'm about to use the windows one.

The UX for dragging a tab over another to create a group feels a little less smooth than in Chrome. It helps a little if you edit the browser.tabs.groups.dragOverDelayMS to be shorter than the current 240ms, but it still feels a little fussy, I'm not sure what it is. Sometimes the tabs will be overlapping and it just won't trigger creating a group, and that seems to be a little worse in vertical tabs just because the target is smaller. But its a new feature, to be fair, so I'm sure some tweaks will be needed.

I was able to go to about:config and set browser.tabs.groups.enabled to True and get them working. I also turned browser.tabs.groups.dragOverDelayMS to 120ms which is about half of the default, because it felt too sluggish at 240. I might wind up dropping it even lower.

I've been subscribed to Rob since the early days, and this series of videos has been one of my favorites. It's so fun to see Rob exploring unusual or unfamiliar instruments and watching him try to wrap his head around them, while also getting to see someone who is a passionate expert on the instrument get to show off the their expertise.

My first exposure to the Nyckelharpa was a Trondheim Solistene album "In Folk Style" that was featured on NPR years ago, and I thought it was such a beautiful instrument then. It's cool to see Rob discovering it.

They're also adding tab groups in 137 which is one of the major features that I've really felt was missing. I'm stoked about that, I don't really like the UX of any of the extensions that offered tab groups - they're just generally clunky or take up additional screen real-estate.

I'm mostly with you on the driving - in general my reaction on the road is to slow down and leave space. It does irritate me when people do things like wait until the last possible moment to merge, or when people pass on the shoulder to try and get ahead when there's stopped traffic, but the reason it frustrates me is just that it makes everything worse for other people, I don't really care that much about whether it slows me down - I'm going to get there when I get there.
