I’m still working out from home, which I started during COVID. I focus on strength using dumbbells and do some HIIT programs as well. I miss the gym and heavy lifting, but I was pregnant when everyone started going back and now I have a young toddler. Time feels so tight and working out from home is so convenient. But it’s definitely less rewarding both mentally and physically.

I know it’s kind of a unique situation giving the timing with COVID, but anyone here have similar struggles after becoming a parent they eventually overcame?

Oof yeah. This resonates so hard with me. I was a travel nurse for 5 years, moving from place to place constantly. Met my husband that way and we continued to travel together. I think it fed into my desire to want to just pack up and gtfo as soon as things got uncomfortable. Now that we’re parents, homeowners, and permanent staff workers, I still get that urge to run as far away and as fast as possible. But yeah, wherever I go, there I’ll be.

Also unrelated in a bathroom I one saw graffiti saying “you’re beautiful” and someone responded “NOT EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL SOME PPL UGLY AF.” I also think about that one from time to time.

I haven’t dated in a long time (met my husband in 2016), but I did a lot of online dating before meeting him. Went on a LOT of first dates. There were several that I went on multiple dates with but it ultimately fizzled for one reason or another. And I had one committed longer term relationship.

This was over the span of 5ish years. 2011-2016. I’m 34 now. I mostly used Tinder but also OkCupid before Tinder was out. I tried and hated Bumble but it was pretty new back then.

I didn’t have many issues with mismatched expectations. The ones looking for hook ups are usually either open about it or you can sus it out from conversation before meeting them. I enjoyed online dating. I mean, having a date with someone you can’t stand sucks, but I generally like people and am interested in learning about them. So I made the most out of dates even if I didn’t feel a romantic connection. I think it could be really exhausting/ defeating for an introvert or someone with social anxiety.

Ultimately met my husband at work though!

I’ve tried many drugs many times. I regularly use THC (nightly) and alcohol (3-4 nights per week). None of the following have been used since 2020 because I got pregnant (planned) in 2021 and now have a little toddler.

LSD- first tried at 16 and was using frequently- once or twice a month for a while. I loved it but these days (34 now) an 8 hour trip would be daunting. Last used it at a music festival in 2016.

Mushrooms- 16 or 17. I’ve always felt they’re more intense than LSD, but probably more so because they’re more difficult to measure. Potency varies from strain to strain and between caps and stems. Visuals are definitely more intense than LSD. Heavy giggling is a thing. Last used in 2020.

Nitrous- 16/17. Oh god I love nitrous. But it lasts like 90 seconds and isn’t cheap when accounting for the short high. Last used…. 2016?

Cocaine- 17ish. I liked it. I still like it. It’s expensive and relatively boring for a drug. Last used in 2020.

MDMA- I flipping love MDMA. First “tried” at 17, I think it was fake. Because the first time I really experienced a true MDMA high was at my 20th birthday party. Planning to use again this September at a show.

Methylone (bath salts)- used by accident thinking it was MDMA. Test your drugs, kids. Hated it. It was kind of like rolling except you never peak and feel slightly aggressive. Last used in 2018.

Ketamine- never tried but would like to!

Candy flipping (LSD + MDMA)- tried in 2016 but the timing was off. Should have taken MDMA sooner into the trip.

Hippie flipping (mushrooms + MDMA)- haven’t tried but would like to.

Agreed. And I frequently want to look something up that I see referenced here (like the name of a book, or fact checking something I read, etc). It’s so much harder to toggle between chrome webpages than it would be from a separate app to chrome. I guess I could solve this by opening Tildes in Safari, but ultimately an app would be the most convenient

We’ve had our GE cafe induction range for 6 months and I’ve used the wifi once- to start the oven when we were at a party down street. I think you do need WiFi to do precision cooking- where you put a meat thermometer in whatever you’re cooking and it’ll cook exactly to the temp you specify. We’ve never used it, personally. Maybe one of the other commenters has and could tell you more.

They were Jesus ads with oddly creepy images imo. I’m a strong atheist and it just drove me nuts having to see those day after day. I had considered quitting Reddit solely because of them.

Another cloth diaperer here. Added bonuses I haven’t seen mentioned:

    • No poop blow outs. EVER. People talk about blow outs like it’s a regular thing and we’ve never had one (kiddo is 1.5 years).

    • No diaper rash. Basically ever. Her booty cheeks get reddened sometimes, usually when other people watch her and don’t notice a poop as quickly as my husband or I would.

Added note: it’s REALLY not that hard. I’m shocked more people don’t do it. People who use disposables act like it’s so hard, but I don’t know where they’re getting that from because everyone I know who uses cloth thinks it’s pretty straightforward.

I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy's memoir about her struggles as a childhood actress. I didn't know who Jennette McCurdy was before starting this book and I still loved it.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes - A memoir about working at a crematory.

Lark Ascending - Quick dystopian read with LGBTQ elements.

Good Inside - Specifically for parents. Just... read it. It's wonderful.
