Why does anyone need access to a 2000 pound machine capable of hurling its self in excess of 150km/h? (Again I understand that we can’t do that because we need cars to get anywhere in NA, but it’s crazy to me that this is fine with people)

I hate being a pedestrian walking down what should be a 50km/hr road, only to have people flashing by at 100 easily (including the cops). Why should they get to save 2 minutes on their trip and put my life in danger? Also some sort of machine that tickets you a couple 100$ for every second you are not looking at the road (unrealistic obviously but I stand by the sentiment)

Also, if you aren’t running all the time, they’ll last you a couple years, I paid for a pair of sauconys in 2019 and even though I run, I’m only having to think about replacing them now.

The arguments, especially “once again addressing symptoms, not root causes”, and “…has also been criticized for distracting from the root problem: Humans must stop burning fossil fuels to avoid more catastrophic effects of climate change” read to me as “locking your door doesn’t address the root problem: humans must stop breaking and entering homes”.
I get the message they are trying to convey, it just seems weird that we wouldn’t try for damage control while we address the root problems.

In fact due to this, in some cities it’s illegal for minors to be without parental supervision (in Canada unsure about the US). Here’s a great video explaining some of this.

Same reason AI has trouble recognizing darker skinned individuals, because of inherent biases in the development process. It’s silly but it saves us some headache in the customer support realm if users see the app working. Take this with a grain of salt, my users demographic might be different than other apps.

I mean if you’ve never seen or thought about it before, and you don’t see any screw holes, it’s not necessarily intuitive that it’s glued on
