I mean if you’ve never seen or thought about it before, and you don’t see any screw holes, it’s not necessarily intuitive that it’s glued on

It shouldn’t be one piece, the neck slots into the body and gets glued in place, so you’d have to remove the glue somehow

I agree that it’s a pretty firm take, I would even say though that if not for our society being dependant on them I’d say cars should be illegal altogether. Why does anyone need access to a 2000 pound machine capable of hurling its self in excess of 150km/h? (Again I understand that we can’t do that because we need cars to get anywhere in NA, but it’s crazy to me that this is fine with people)

I firmly believe that cars should be restricted to the speed limits, and should mechanically not be able to exceed them. I hate being a pedestrian walking down what should be a 50km/hr road, only to have people flashing by at 100 easily (including the cops). Why should they get to save 2 minutes on their trip and put my life in danger? Also some sort of machine that tickets you a couple 100$ for every second you are not looking at the road (unrealistic obviously but I stand by the sentiment)

As a Canadian, I don’t understand why they don’t simply make it illegal for schools to out kids? Why the extra wasteful step of suing? Are they not the government of California?

My advice if you ever do want to get a good pie of running shoes: always get a year or two old model, stores try to get rid of them and they can be more than half off. Also, if you aren’t running all the time, they’ll last you a couple years, I paid for a pair of sauconys in 2019 and even though I run, I’m only having to think about replacing them now.

I’m sorry to give such a short reply to your comment, but I thought the part where the author pulled up comments to the times article was interesting. The arguments, especially “once again addressing symptoms, not root causes”, and “…has also been criticized for distracting from the root problem: Humans must stop burning fossil fuels to avoid more catastrophic effects of climate change” read to me as “locking your door doesn’t address the root problem: humans must stop breaking and entering homes”.

I get the message they are trying to convey, it just seems weird that we wouldn’t try for damage control while we address the root problems.

I think cars are a big part: there’s more of them now then there used to, they go faster, and infrastructure has totally evolved around them, with little regard to pedestrian safety. In fact due to this, in some cities it’s illegal for minors to be without parental supervision (in Canada unsure about the US). Here’s a great video explaining some of this.

Makes sense, given where AI was developed and our current society, I imagine these were developed mostly by English speaking, white folk (probably majority males). Same reason AI has trouble recognizing darker skinned individuals, because of inherent biases in the development process. (I am not claiming that any of this was malicious, only a product of the people who made it)

From my experience in web dev, the reason for a “draft saved” notification is we noticed a lot of our users would do an action (eg save a draft) but then contact us wondering why nothing had happened, so we use notifications like that to inform them. It’s silly but it saves us some headache in the customer support realm if users see the app working. Take this with a grain of salt, my users demographic might be different than other apps.
