With the Steam Summer Sale soon, whats a title you have your eyes on?
Transport Fever, Rise of Industry and Squad. I really enjoy tycoon games :)
Is Squad still relevant?

I have my eyes on literally anything under $5.
I highly recommend Shadow of Mordor if you haven't played it already and that's your type of game. Usually gets down to just a few bucks during the sales and it's a solid 15-20 hours of play with a decent storyline and graphics.
I love how the game elaborates on the folklore. Still want to see a movie adaptation or simply a series revolving around the second age of men, prior to the forging of the ring.
It's soooo in opposition to everything in Tolkien's books though. He would have absolutely hated these games. I can't stomach the story enough to enjoy the game. It makes no sense to me. I wish this wasn't branded as a Lord of the Rings game, because the story is totally different.
The story is pretty hamfisted, but the gameplay and setting established allowed me to overlook that and kinda of roleplay the game.
Yeah, that's why I wish they just invented their own world and left Tolkien's out of it (since that's pretty much what they did anyway). I just can't bring myself to overlook all the liberties they took.
I’m done with this. It was fun in 2010 but for a few years now, I realize that I’d rather pay 50€ once for a game I really like to play than 10 games for 5€ that land on my backlog. I’m a happier gamer since I made that decision. 500 games on my Steam account are the reminder of how long it took me to get to this epiphany.
From my wishlist:
plus a bunch of other titles. I probably won't spend more than $20, so that's maybe two or three games off this list.
Factorio likely won't be on sale but it'll pay for itself.
HoI4 is 12 bucks with Humble Monthly RIGHT now.
Haven't heard much of the others.
The devs have stated it's never going on sale. At this point I want to get it before they raise the price again. HOI4 I'm not that enthusiastic about tbh. I've heard pretty lackluster things about it when compared to previous Hearts of Iron games, and after Stellaris I'd rather spend money elsewhere. It's more there if nothing else has a good sale.
I've not heard much good about Stellaris and don't know much about the gameplay. From what I do know about Paradox Titles, Eu4 and HoI4 are both different gameplay wise in their own respects. I enjoy HoI4 but it's just a hard game to pick up and understand. I'd personally point people to Eu4 if anything, not sure if it interests you but it's definitely a good pickup.
Heh, I have 700+ hours on EU4. Great timesink there, but I haven't been keeping up with the dlcs.
Ahaha, I need to pickup some of the DLCs. If you enjoy HoI4 for 12 bucks its not a bad deal, I picked up for 15 on the sale recently
This seems like a silly move. Do you have any more info about their decision? I own so many little indie games I wouldn't have bought if they didn't go on sale for $5. Super Meat Boy, FTL, Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami, VVVVV, Alan Wake, Binding of Isaac. All of which I got on steam sales or humble bundles for under ten bucks. I've gone on to recommend these games to others, and have probably generated at least another dozen sales.
Factorio is great, and it's not a ripoff at the $40 or whatever it costs, but I'd be way, way, way more likely to recommend it to someone if it went on sale for $15.
They know their game is worth full price ($30) and they're sticking with it. I think it's commendable. Honestly, Factorio is easily worth double the price they're asking for it.
Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that. I know it's a great game, with a ton of depth, and a lot of people put hundreds of hours into it, so it's definitely worth the money. On the other hand, steam sales bring a lot of exposure to small indie games, and make the game available to a lot of broke or younger gamers that couldn't otherwise afford it.
True, I think they might discount if they needed the exposure, but they don't.
I feel they may bump the price and start sales once they fully release.
Please spell out the games, what the hell is MHRD?
It's literally the title of the game. Apparently it stands for MicroHaRD.
Tyranny was really good, a little on the short side but they actively encourage replays. You probably know this but its very similar to pillars of eternity, and made by the same people, so if you liked PoE then you'll like tyranny.
I'm mainly going off of Noah Caldwell-Gervais's review here.
I enjoyed Into the Breach but I found the progression to be quite slow and I found too few types of enemies.
In the end I got bored and uninstalled it.
Just an heads up :)
Factorio has a demo on the Steam site. Play the heck out of that. What I like about Factorio is the challenge of designing systems / dealing with pollution and the local creatures (more pollution makes native creatures attack your factories) and the logistics and just creating factories that work. If you're a programmer there are two things about Factorio: It's like learning to program all over and you can apply programming principles to Factorio. Also there are in game comparators you can use to control you factory (example: if there is enough coal here then send coal over there).
If you get HOI4 definitely try the Kaiserreich mod!
Definitely seen a lot of stuff from that direction over on paradoxplaza. Does it affect game balance, or is it just a thematic/scenario mod?
It has a completely different starting scenario and focus trees which definitely affects balance. It also has a more in depth political system in additional to all the flavor stuff.
I used the Pleasantly Inexpensive Rapid Application Test Environment method to demo Beat Saber fully expecting to dislike it (because I was not a fan of audioshield) but was pleasently surprised. If it goes on sale that would be nice, but if not I'll still probaby grab it because it was definitely entertaining.
It took me a while to recognise the same method I use often today to determine if a game is worth my money/time. I'm gonna reuse it :)
Very interesting method!
Hoping Subnautica goes on sale - it's the only game I want to add on top of my already stacked to-play list right now. I'd be okay with picking up The Witness, as well.
You should really play The Witness. :-)
Subnautica's on sale on Steam right now for 20% off. Not a massive sale, but that's the lowest it's been since the last Steam winter sale (same discount).
Yeah hoping for a little more, but if I clear out my to-play list and it's still not cut lower I'll just buy it full price, I hear it's worth it.
The Witness is my favorite game but I’m always scared to recommend it it. It’s not really “entertainment”, it’s like a philosophical brain tease.
Yeah that's why I want it - some of my favorite games are Braid, Antichamber, The Talos Principle, etc.
I want to find a good online co-op games for me and my friends. If anyone has suggestions, I would love them!
Rocket League comes to mind, CS:GO casual dickery maybe.
I'm looking for Factorio, and some co-op games!
Factorio likely won't be on sale but trust me, it'll pay for itself.
That game has a lot of content, a lot of replayability, lots of fun with friends,
My main wants from my wishlist:
FYI, Sunless Sea is given to you if you spend $5 in GoG's summer sale.
I tried Sunless Sea but couldn't stay with all the huge text-based quests without much context.
I know it's the fleshed out project based on an online mmo text games that follows the classic "wait x minutes/hours/days to complete this action" that have a huge following apparently... but for someone that know nothing of that game and its background, it's kinda frustrating to go around aimlessly.
Also, I find that games like that "mostly text", are kinda wasted on a computer screen. I would have played it much more pleasantly on a mobile device, 10 minutes at a time.
Final Fantasy 9, 12 and 15.
Ofc I doubt I'll have any money for these or any games, but maybe if I beg my dad enough...yes I am a grown adult. 🙃🤨🙃
Had my eye on Deep Sky Derelicts for a while, it looks similar to Darkest Dungeon and I absolutely adored that game.
You might also want to check out Slay the Spire. Same kind of combat system as DD except instead of effects synergizing across characters, it works across the deck of cards you have. It's pretty fun.
These are the aging games I'm hoping will finally be discounted a significant amount:
NieR Automata
Prey
Rise of the Tomb Raider
South Park Fractured But Whole
Wolfenstien 2
XCOM 2
Since I have a Switch, I’m actually playing games, rather than hoarding them on Steam. The Steam sales barely seem attractive. Only exception is Prey. It almost sounds too good to be true... and honestly a bit late, I made my peace with the System Shock like games being dead and kinda moved on.
I would like to buy Fallout 4. Maybe it will be cheaper then the €60 price.
The only thing on my radar right now is The Fractured But Whole.
