I was thinking about this question recently because I finished watching Game of Thrones and it made me want to play a game where I get to be a badass dragon. Unfortunately, it turns out there are surprisingly few games that tackle that experience.
I also recently played a game called 1979 Revolution: Black Friday, which attempts to inform the player about a real event in history through Telltale-style adventure gameplay. Though it's fictionalized, I realized while playing that it's as close to a documentary as I've come in gaming, which I would argue is another unexplored area.
That said, I'm curious to see what people here think.
- What are some ideas/experiences that games haven't tackled, or have hardly scratched the surface of?
- Why do you think this area has gone untouched for so long? Oversight? Tough to design around? Unfeasible? Unfun?
- Are there any games that do fit your bill? Are they any good?
- If you had to design a game to fill the niche you identified, what might it be like?

I finally got around to sinking some decent time into it over the last couple of days. I'm addicted. It's fun to go up against so many competitors and watch as people get knocked out of the competition over time. Not to mention, it's frickin' Tetris so of course it's great! I'm really looking forward to the special event that Nintendo's running this weekend. You can earn an old-school Gameboy theme!

Epic Games Store - Mega Sale - Up to 75% off and $10 off every game $14.99+

Making this as a text post because the Epic Store interface isn't very good, and I want to be able to highlight particular sales.
Here's a better interface for browsing on gg.deals
First: this is a bizarre sale and clearly another case of Epic effectively subsidizing something that wouldn't be possible normally. As a really blatant example of what's crazy about it, I posted the announcement trailer for John Wick Hex last week. It got announced 8 days ago, there isn't even a vague release date, and they don't even know which consoles it's coming to yet. Even with that, it's on sale here now for $8 instead of $20 - 60% off, a week after announcement!
So because of that, here's some of the sales that seem most ridiculous due to being unusually large discounts, especially on games that aren't even out yet or just came out. Let me know if you spot more, all prices USD:
Game Sale Price Normal Price Discount John Wick Hex $7.99 $19.99 60% Satisfactory $19.95 $29.95 33% Shakedown Hawaii $9.99 $19.99 50% Slime Rancher $4.99 $19.99 75% Subnautica Below Zero $9.99 $19.99 50% 18 votes -

Ive been playing D&D for the last year with life and stuff happening it's taken us a full year to finish the campaign, something that should not have taken as long as it did but honestly it's been an absolute blast. I've met new friends, gotten to know a co-worker better and picked up a new hobby (mini painting) our DM has gone all out over the last few months, he started off by making 3D maps for us to play on he made tiny little styrofoam blocks and made house's, towers and all that fun stuff.
The biggest thing be did was have a map printed, he was going to draw it all out on a king single bed sheet, got five minutes into drawing it and his wife asked "can't you find someplace to have that printed?" and this is what he came up with when we got together again.
This thing is ridiculous in size. I've thrown in a few other photos from the night and have a small adult and cat for scale.

Top level comments should fill in the blank with some sort of descriptor identifying a kind of game you would like suggestions for. Be as generic or specific as you want.
Replies can then recommend games to that individual.
