Looking for Magsafe wallet recommendations
I've recently purchased a cover for my android phone, which supports Magsafe (dBrand Ghost for anyone looking for the product). I'm trying to find Magsafe compatible wallets, with the following requirements:
- Hold about 4 cards
- Have sufficient space for cash (essential), and a pouch for coins (preferable)
- Would be great if it could act as a stand for the phone in portrait or landscape mode. (preferrable)
I'm currently using the PopSocket Magsafe Wallet, it holds the 4 cards, and stretches for cash, but I don't know if I'd recommend it. The magnets are pretty weak. I'll probably try the Peak Design wallet when I upgrade my phone this time around!
Offtopic rant, does anyone actually read the text under the title?? OP clearly asked for Magsafe wallets.
Yeah, I wish there was a way to edit the title to say Magsafe wallet 😅
@mycketforvirrad do you mind changing the title?
Sorted!
Side question, how do you feel about the dBrand Ghost? I've been using the Peak Design Magsafe case, thinking of switching to the Ghost when I get my Pixel 8 Pro
It's still in pre-order, I think I kind a jumped the gun on it, but they looked really good :D
haha i feel that, i just preordered one myself, let's see how long it'll take, otherwise the Peak Design case is actually pretty nice too!
I got in touch with service agents about the delivery bit last week (have some travel plans, wanted some details), and they seemed confident about shipping late October. Fingers Crossed.
I've been using the PopSocket Magsafe Wallet for about a year now and never had any issues with the magnet. Carry 4 cards on it all the time, though it does not have room for cash or coins. I suppose you could fit in a couple of bills if you fold them really well and only put like 2 cards in there, but it's really meant for just cards. The biggest feature of the wallet, besides carrying the 4 cards of course, is the popsocket, so that doesn't leave a lot of room for much else. If OP cares more about carrying cash, then some of the other links posted in this thread would probably be better. But for just cards, the popsocket wallet has worked great for me.
Wow, you managed to fit four cards in? Mine's a tight squeeze with three.
Sorry, I said four cards but really what I meant was three credit cards plus my ID. I just always considered it as four cards because there are four physical cards in there. But I realize now that the ID is a tiny bit thinner than the credit cards (by like a hair), but the difference is small enough that I feel like replacing the ID with another card would work just fine.
But yeah, all four have been in there every day for the last 11 months and it completely got rid of the need to carry an extra wallet. Though of course someone who uses cash would have a much harder time.
Interesting- I can squeeze three non embossed cards in but I feel even one embossed card would make everything hard to deal with
I've been using the Peak Design wallet (the slimmer one that doesn't work as a kickstand) and it's been fantastic. Super strong magnets, including on the clasp that holds the cards in. No amount of shaking my phone will make the wallet fall off, although I am also using the Peak Design phone case which has extra strong magsafe magnets as well. I imagine with a different magsafe case it would still hold pretty well.
I also use the Popsocket MagSafe Wallet, and have been using it for a few months (non-MagSafe Popsocket Wallet for about a year before that). I was surprised at how strong the connection is on my last phone - the mag connection on the case I have on my new phone feels a bit weaker. That said, I still feel comfortable shaking it by the Popsocket.
I stuck cash in it once between some cards on my non-MagSafe one, but it stretched it a bit and I decided I wouldn’t do that again. I almost never carry cash, so I probably wouldn’t go this way if cash holding is a dealbreaker.
I think I have something wrong with the one I got, lol. Though I might just have really high expectations for the magnets in general. The other problem for me is that for some reason the PopSocket one doesn't have proper shielding from my phone, I think, so when I keep my card on it sometimes it just detects it through NFC.
I have not had an issue with it detecting cards via NFC while still in the wallet, but I do wish they made one with RFID protection.
I used this for a while and think it would check all your boxes
It's not clear from the photos on Amazon, does it have separate storage for cash?
Actually I didn’t read your post close enough and was mistaken. It only has room for three cards
The MagSafe magnets are strong, but too much weight would make the wallet fall off easily imo
There might not be any options that perfectly match your requirements, but if you do find one I’d be interested in seeing it
I had the Peak Design mobile wallet for a while. It’s more of a pouch than a wallet, so it’s easy to get disorganized and mixed around, but it can hold a lot more stuff than any other magsafe wallet I’ve seen (more than 4 cards, some folded up cash, and probably a decent number of coins as well), and it does work as a stand.
Currently I have the VECI Bifold and I think it’s the one I’m gonna stick with. Doesn’t fit your criteria but wanted to shout it out for anyone else who might be looking. It’s a standard bifold wallet with plenty of card space and two separated cash pouches, but it has a small detachable magsafe card holder that can hold 2 cards. Works perfect for me, even if I usually prefer not to buy leather.
Edit: fixed the phone stand link. Thanks for the tip @0d_billie
I am not sure about magsafe (Pixel user here), but have you considered something like this credit card sized phone stand? You could put that in any wallet. Maybe this is too paranoid, but I think I'd feel like "all my eggs were in one basket" if my phone and wallet were sitting together on a table, so having the wallet not be the stand would be a benefit to me.
I have really enjoyed Mighty Wallet tyvek wallets. It won't hold coins, but you can't beat it for thinness and lightness. You can also customize it with your own art or design. I've had two in a row and been very happy with them.
Your phone stand link doesn't work, FYI :)
Just got this one from Satechi. The stand is great, fits 4 cards (2 in the front slot, 2 inside). Feels like the quality is solid. Definitely bulkier than the Apple one, but so far been solid for everyday use. The look of a lot of the other wallet/stand magsafe cases didn’t really appeal to me, and this one checks all the boxes.
Doesn’t have a cash pouch, though - leaving here for others who might be interested but sounds like it’s not quite right for you.
I'm using the Popwallet+ from Popsocket and the stand/popsocket function is great but it only fits three cards so doesn't meet your needs. Previously I was using Bellroy's Mod wallet leather case which is beautiful but began to peel at the edges after 8 months. The Smartish side hustle might also be worth a look- it can fit three cards plus a bit of cash.
Regarding weak magnetic connections that others have mentioned, I bought a case that is supposed to sort of enhance the magnet strength. I bought this one on Amazon.
I also have a MagSafe wallet but it doesn't meet your requirements. Holds maybe 5 cards, but you have to fold cash to fit any in it, and definitely nowhere for coins.
I'm just not a fan of the trifold. I've worked cash registers before and the triple bends make it frustrating to hold, count, and store in registers when it's shaped like a half pipe. And yeah, we could face all the bills down, but sometimes there's not time to organize the bills, they just get thrown in and you hope you balance end of day. My 2¢, literally
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I see no indication that this is MagSafe compatible
I bought this wallet (Martrams Carbon Fiber Credit Card Holder RFID Blocking Money Clip Wallet https://a.co/d/3Yp8Yvy) 4 years ago and have been happy with it. It looks like mine is no longer available but now they come with a money clip instead of a band. It’s possible the clip is spring steel so it’ll affix to your phone case. I don’t use cash generally, but I’ve had upwards of 10 bills inside the band.
