If you don't like cringe humor (I don't as well) never watch The Office UK. Seriously I struggled to finish it an only because I had this masochistic need to finish a show I started.
Just started watching The Expanse. Does it turn into mostly a political drama set in space? More action-y? It's hard to tell where it's going from the first two episodes.

I am watching The Expanse now after this big push to get it renewed and it's honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen, let alone one of the most binge-able shows.

I wasn't sure about it initially, but killing off a certain character was the best thing for the show. Jared's expanded role as slightly intense, insecure sidekick was my favorite part of this season.

Season 5 had the best finale that they've had yet. Really, s4 is the only one I didn't like as much as the others. I could tell 3 was kinda fluff content, but it was still good.

I definitely enjoyed season 5 quite a bit, I binged it all yesterday.
I haven't seen the recut of season 4, but I was one of the few who did like season 4 for what it was. I think the main issue was less the way it was cut and more that it didn't have as much interaction between the family members as the first ones did, mostly due to scheduling constraints. So you'd usually end up with only one or two of the characters in a scene, except for a few towards the beginning of the season. I actually liked what they did with the timeline stuff, and I maintain that it probably would have been seen much more positively if it hadn't been Arrested Development doing it.
That said, there is more family interaction in season 5, which is a good thing.
Yeah, I gave the fifth season a fair shake, but I just can't get into it. I think it's a case of "It's not you, it's me"... I recognize all the familiar shapes of the old Arrested Development, but...
Yeah, I gave the fifth season a fair shake, but I just can't get into it. I think it's a case of "It's not you, it's me"... I recognize all the familiar shapes of the old Arrested Development, but episodes barely get a chuckle out of me.
I think part of the issue is, the humor in the first three seasons came a lot from us discovering the depths of absurdity of the characters. As a random example, when we learned that Tobias was a never-nude, that just fit his character so well and yet it was so unexpectedly hilarious.
With season 5, I'm not getting anything new like this. I'm getting callbacks. So the joke isn't some new, quirky aspect of a character, it's just reminding me what I know these characters to be.
Anyway, as much as I loved Arrested Development in its heydays, I'd recommend stopping at the end of season 3.
I didn't enjoy the first season, it was a little too negative to me. But the second season and on they really settled in to their own thing, and I love it. I'd definitely recommend it with that...

I watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1 and lost interest, but a friend just convinced me to give it a second chance. So far the show has five seasons of 22 episodes each(!), so that's definitely binge-worthy. You just have to get over the hokey first season, and you'll get pure entertainment in the form of a heavily-serialized show set in the MCU.
Also worth binging is Person of Interest. If you can get into the formula and you find the episodic first season interesting, then the show will blow your mind once it hits season 3 or so. Definitely one of my favorite shows ever.
Finally, I never see this show mentioned anywhere, but Counterpart is a SF masterpiece with JK Simmons at the top of his game. It's only one season now but it's a great, fast binge and it actually helps watching the story back to back.

Some of my favorites:
Person of Interest – the first season makes it seem like the typical crime procedural, but it's not. I recently realized it's kind of like the paranoid love child of two of Jonathan Nolan's other works: Westworld and The Dark Knight.
Hannibal – Whether or not you can actually binge this is entirely dependent on your tolerance for kinda super disturbing-artsy gore and psychological horror. I binged it just fine with minimal side effects; my dad, on the other hand, couldn't watch it. Still, if you can take it, it's one of the best dramas out there. Highkey pretentious.
LOST – You've probably already watched this, but if you haven't: it makes a super binge. Really engaging with cliffhangers everywhere. If you watch it with a greater focus on the character development than on the mystery-solving, you won't be disappointed.
And a not-so-favorite...
Prison Break – I can't with clear conscience recommend more than the first, maybe second season. Personally, I thought seasons 3 and 4 were okay, but a lot of people hate them so YMMV. That first season though... it was a treat.
Does Person of Interest get better after season 1? I got through the first few episodes, but it definitely seemed like a "typical crime procedural", and not a particularly interesting one either.

Oh yes. I'd argue that this is one of those shows that consistently improves upon itself season after season. At the end of the first you get your first hint of what awaits; at the end of the second you can see the shape of what it's becoming... and then by the time the third season is over suddenly you realize this show you are watching has completely shifted genres and entered some high-concept territory you never would have expected from it.
In truth, it really is just the first season that seems like a normal crime show. I can't recommend Mr Robot enough, although it's a love it or hate it kind of show. I'd recommend watching the coffee shop scene to see if you'd be into it https://youtu.be/sO2raiSHOhc . Did you watch The Good Place yet? So good. Otherwise, The IT Crowd and Peep Show(if you like cringe humor.)
I've never seen The Good Place--looks interesting. And cringe humor can be rough for me.
The Good Place is so good. It's not at all church-y, which I was worried about, fyi!
IT Crowd is not that much of a cringe humor so you can go easy with that :)
If you don't like cringe humor (I don't as well) never watch The Office UK. Seriously I struggled to finish it an only because I had this masochistic need to finish a show I started.
The Office is difficult for me. I love a bunch of episodes, but occasionally, Michael is a bit too much for me..
And that's The Office US. Believe me, the UK version is MUCH worse in terms of cringe.
scott's totts is the absolute worst. i will never watch it again, ever
Me too!!!! I skip over it every time! My husband laughs at me, but I just cant.
A vote for Peep Show! It is an under-rated comedy that is great to binge imo. But it isn't for everyone, that is for sure...
Breaking bad, if you haven't already.
The expanse
Scrubs
Brooklyn 99
1up for The expanse. Really a breath of fresh air in the sci-fi panorama :)
I binged it so hard for about a week. Then I caught up with the show :(
The latest episode was great though!
My daughter (16) binged through Brooklyn 99 and kept showing me all these meme-origin things on the show.
Also one up for the Expanse.
Just started watching The Expanse. Does it turn into mostly a political drama set in space? More action-y? It's hard to tell where it's going from the first two episodes.
Watch the next 2-3 and you'll have a better picture. I think the series also steadily gains steam as it progresses as well.
Indeed. It's still gaining steam and probably won't stop for the foreseeable future if the books are anything to go by.
It goes into so many directions that I'm still amazed that they pull it off. It's biggest strength is how well it is written and how well the writers handle the sometimes gradual, sometimes abrupt style of storytelling.
Why not both?
Brooklyn 99 is great, if you liked that check out Psych. Its one of the funniest and easy to watch shows I've ever seen.
You know that's right.
Just finished catching up on Brooklyn Nine Nine. The comedy isn't high brow or anything but each of the characters manages to find their particular role very quickly in the show. Great comedic cast that strikes a good balance of humor and some serious moments.
If you haven't seen American Vandal, it's Netflix's most binged show. There was some stat a while ago that some super high % of people who started it, finished it within 48 hours.

Looks really cool. I didn't realize it was a satire.
This is a good one too, dicks everywhere..
I am watching The Expanse now after this big push to get it renewed and it's honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen, let alone one of the most binge-able shows.
The Expanse really is great. I especially love the depictions of the space battles; they're an awesome visualization to all of the semi-realistic space warfare that I've imagined over the years since I was a kid.
Where can this be watched? Is it on Netflix?
Yes.
I watched it on Amazon Instant Video (it's free with Prime). It may be on Netflix outside of the US, but I haven't seen it on there in the US.
Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Bear through the first season - it's.. campy. After that, it gets awesome.
I'm partial to the original crew.
I really like your username.

There's some bad episodes sprinkled in through the later seasons, but man, there's some really great ones too. I've been watching TNG for the first time recently and it definitely is great, despite the lame start.
This. I just finished my second TNG binge through the whole series and it was no less enjoyable than the first binge. The 1st season was probably more watchable the second time around.

I'd definitely argue that any fan of the first 3 seasons should at least give the original cut of season 4 a shot.
I've only season random episodes. This seems like one I could get into.

3%, a Brazilian Netflix original. I watched this randomly one day while I was sick at home and couldn't do anything except lay on the couch. I ended up absolutely loving it. Highly recommend.
Season 1 was pretty good, but I couldn’t get back into Season 2. The CG just felt really cheap. Great storyline though.
Ah, I'm bummed to hear that. I haven't watched season 2 yet.
I've heard good things about 3%! I'll have to check it out.

Doctor Who
Plenty of great suggestions in this thread already, but nobody had mentioned BoJack Horseman, so I guess I'll have to do it.
BoJack Horseman.
Love me some BoJack! Just push through season 1 and you'll be good.
The Wire, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Better Call Saul, Black Mirror, and A Touch Of Cloth are my picks
I have to 2nd Better Call Saul. BrBa was huge but Better Call Saul is also fantastic and more character driven and softer than Breaking Bad. It seems like this season could be getting dark but the honest relationship between Jimmy and Kim is going to be tough to watch if/when things go south.

I'm gonna say Halt and Catch Fire.
I'd recommend Gravity Falls and Trollhunters (Netflix)
I don't really see anyone here recommending more childish shows but if that's what you're into (and they can be good every now and then) then these are pretty good binge worthy cartoons.
I don't care if you don't like anime, Boku no Hero Academia is super good and worth getting into anime for.

I would say The Americans is pretty good if you want an 80s nostalgia burst that you would get with something like Stranger Things
If you like grown up animation, Big Mouth on Netflix is worth checking out. Voiced my Nick Cross and John Mulaney with Jordan Peele too.
