It'll be nice to see the lawsuits that come out of this.

I just finished Bindle Punk Bruja, and I enjoyed it. It definitely gets a little long and unnecessarily introduces some characters that don't really make it to the wrap-up, but I enjoyed it enough to say if it's your type of book, give it a try. I'm trying not to read series at the moment, but I started it without realizing it was a duology.

I have several books in my library to start, and I just can't decide which one I want to start next. Might start with the next one due back, I guess, but I really want to start the next Uketsu book. We'll see what I decide.

I'm neither. I do best between the hours of 10am and 2pm. I'm always up early and tend to be in bed by 10pm because I'm so done, but left to my own devices, I will wake up around 10am and will still be in bed by 10pm. I can be a night owl if necessary, but everything seems so loud at night. The only things that keep me up at night are things I'm intensely interested in, like a good book I can't put down or a game I'm engrossed in, or if I'm out with friends.

Good for "Anna" to realize what was wrong, but it's also so upsetting that even though she grew up "liberal," she decided to take a 180. As a culture we need to figure out how to move past this culturally.

It's also upsetting that she thought liberals don't have a sense of humor. The problem is that the things conservatives find funny are what they percieve as negatives of the differences around them. Punching down is never funny.

I've shared recently that I've started to learn English Paper Piecing, a form of quilting. It's not a big leap from sewing to quilting, especially since I'm doing it with scraps from past projects.

    My hobby order is:
FIBER: crochet > knitting > spinning yarn > mending by hand > machine sewing > embroidery > EPP
ART: coloring > sketching > inking > illustration > watercolor > digital sketching > digital illustration/sticker design > designing my own tattoos

Edit: and while cooking has always been a way of sustenance, it's also a hobby I grew up with. I cook and bake for fun, not just to eat. Every weekend, I do a project cook or bake where I make something new, or big, or special, or batch make. This weekend's batch cook didn't turn out because the ADHD monster got the better of me and I forgot I had something in the slow cooker on high....

I recently saw a reel about something similar. It was something to the effect of "I could eat only vegan for the rest of my life, but BACONNNNN" and the response was, "Why not go vegan but bacon? Who is telling you to cut bacon out of your life?" It was from someone who is vegan and said the best way to move the needle was to be accepting that not everyone can give up meat/dairy altogether and we need to be reasonable and compassionate.

I'm mostly vegetarian now, and I couldn't have done that if my almost entirely vegan (BUT CHEESE) bff weren't there to help guide me on how to use certain foods or how to prepare tofu in ways that worked better for me.

The Bay Area has seen a lot of rain this winter, but it was also much warmer than usual. The heaviest thing I needed to wear when going out was a light hoodie, until it got to be freezing for like a week in January. And today in my neighborhood it's 67 degrees.

I used to type out my notes because I could easily transcribe what someone was saying very quickly while typing and then go back and hand-write my notes on my iPad, adding in illustrations or other necessary information that wasn't included in the lecture. Just because it's good to do something one way doesn't mean it needs to be done that way at the time of the class.

The author, to me, just feels like a bad teacher who is taking it out on the younger generation between making fun of them and lamenting accommodations/being ableist. I've had plenty of instructors like that, who, even with documented accommodations, denied me what I was supposed to be able to use, and that was 15+ years ago now.

I agree with you that this person should redesign their course if their students aren't paying attention. Alternatively, they should get out of education/academia.

I finished The Reformatory by Tananarive Due, and that book was really messed up. It was beautifully written and such a good book, but what happened in the story is messed up. Think Holes by Louis Sachar, but for adults and set in Jim Crow-era Florida, and more paranormal. But also so so much worse than you can imagine.

Then I read Freaky Folklore which is just a collection of stories on cryptids from around the world.

Yesterday, I finished A Box Full of Darkness by Simone St. James. Another novel I couldn't put down, full of ghosts and horror. I've said before she's one of my favorite modern authors, and I will read anything she writes. This was no different.

I'm currently reading Ugly Fashion by Karolina Zebrowska. It's funny, and the "chapters" are fairly short. I'm enjoying her sense of humor, but I also love her YouTube channel, so no surprise there that I'm enjoying her book, too.

The next book on my list is Strange Pictures by Uketsu. I like his curt writing style of horror.

On the other hand, I will eat any brassica you put in front of me in just about any preparation. Brussels sprouts? Broccoli? Cauliflower? Cabbage? Kale? Bring them all on. Cabbage is one of my favorite foods, and I've been known to eat an entire head in one sitting if no one stops me.

I read the Witches of Thistle Grove series, and those started so strong and just became unhinged by the end. Then for my book club we read The Place Where They Buried Your Heart by Christina Henry, and it was good; the ending was a tiny bit rushed, but it was a good book overall. The next book for my book club is This Is How You Lose the Time War, and I'm excited about it, and then I have The Reformatory to read for myself. Lots of books going on. I actually have several books checked out right now, but I generally only read one at a time.

People seem to forget that we actually had concentration camps in this country. These are worse. There was at least outdoor space and toilets in the camps. There is still a site in CA that is a historical site where a Japanese Internment camp was.

However, what these buildings are or aren't doesn't negate the fact that we're really taking the Nazi Playbook and running it hard.
