I've used a mac professionally for the last 7 years, and before that, it was a PC. I've used PCs with Windows Pro (the one time I had Windows Home or something, it was honestly the worst experience with so many ads that it was impossible to navigate, and I immediately got help to get something else installed) or some flavor of Linux for basically my entire life, up until the last two years of college when I got a MacBook Air for its weight, size, and its compatibility with some instruments I used in the lab for direct data capture that just couldn't be done with a PC. I had already been using iPads as my note-taking device for years because of Notability, which was iOS only, and had no problems getting my notes from my iPad to my Mac from that point, which made studying so much easier.

I'm the only consistent Apple user in my family, mostly because the products just work out of the box, and I don't have to fiddle around to make the computer do what I want and work the way I want to or to add the accessibility companions I need. They're all just there. Every time I need to use a Windows device, it's like pulling teeth, and I have a Pro 10 at home that I use for data organization purposes. We also have three Windows desktops that are gaming PCs—but honestly, they are literally only used for Steam. I would be willing to bet that Mr. Tired would let me upgrade to a SteamOS if I asked him his preference. At least one to play around with.

I'm not an Apple stan, and if something else came out that just worked out of the box with little to no fussing from me, with accessibility features pre-installed on it that are relevant to me, I would make the switch. At least for my computing needs. Nothing compares to Procreate on the iPad for artwork in my experience, so I just won't even look anymore.

We had Omakase on our honeymoon, and it was amazing! It was such a fun experience, especially being able to have it not only be the chef's selections but also be tailored to our dietary preferences at the time, especially food allergies. The chef was fabulous, and the fish was incredibly fresh. It was the best meal I ate up to that point in my life, only overthrown by the chef's table experience at a Michelin-star restaurant a few nights later.

I'm also incredibly fortunate to live in California and to be able to get at least somewhat reasonable pricing for sushi that is also incredibly fresh, since I live less than an hour away from the ocean. It's my favorite food, and we have sushi a few times a month.

we have 2 low effort meals that we make when we can't be bothered, but still want to eat relatively healthily:

    1. impossible nuggets and roasted broccoli - put both in the oven on one or two sheetpans and call it a day
    2. pasta with jarred sauce and frozen veggies - it's what it sounds like. Boil the pasta and at the last minute of cooking add frozen peas, carrots, and spinach before draining, then mix in sauce. Grate parmesan on top if you're feeling fancy.

Surprisingly enough, this is relevant to me!

I was at Disneyland last week and discovered that bubbles are my new nemesis. Children with bubble wands at the same height as me in a wheelchair/ECV kept getting bubbles in my face to the point that I actually needed to use the eyewash station at the parks.

Bubbles are fun, but not when you're trying to get around accessibly and there are bubbles everywhere, guard your eyeballs.

I've got a Hamilton Beach rice cooker that I love, which I'm worried is on its last legs, to be honest. I've had it for almost 10 years, and we make rice weekly with it. Once it finally dies, I will definitely get myself another rice cooker, and it will likely either be a Tiger or Zojirushi. I make various kinds of rice and often make whole rice cooker meals in the thing, so it's important to have one that is more customizable than the basic on/off cookers. I'm not an Instant Pot person, but my MIL is, and she loves hers. I could always borrow hers if I wanted to mess around with one.

I just finished Bindle Punk Bruja, and I enjoyed it. It definitely gets a little long and unnecessarily introduces some characters that don't really make it to the wrap-up, but I enjoyed it enough to say if it's your type of book, give it a try. I'm trying not to read series at the moment, but I started it without realizing it was a duology.

I have several books in my library to start, and I just can't decide which one I want to start next. Might start with the next one due back, I guess, but I really want to start the next Uketsu book. We'll see what I decide.

I'm neither. I do best between the hours of 10am and 2pm. I'm always up early and tend to be in bed by 10pm because I'm so done, but left to my own devices, I will wake up around 10am and will still be in bed by 10pm. I can be a night owl if necessary, but everything seems so loud at night. The only things that keep me up at night are things I'm intensely interested in, like a good book I can't put down or a game I'm engrossed in, or if I'm out with friends.

Good for "Anna" to realize what was wrong, but it's also so upsetting that even though she grew up "liberal," she decided to take a 180. As a culture we need to figure out how to move past this culturally.

It's also upsetting that she thought liberals don't have a sense of humor. The problem is that the things conservatives find funny are what they percieve as negatives of the differences around them. Punching down is never funny.

I've shared recently that I've started to learn English Paper Piecing, a form of quilting. It's not a big leap from sewing to quilting, especially since I'm doing it with scraps from past projects.

    My hobby order is:
FIBER: crochet > knitting > spinning yarn > mending by hand > machine sewing > embroidery > EPP
ART: coloring > sketching > inking > illustration > watercolor > digital sketching > digital illustration/sticker design > designing my own tattoos

Edit: and while cooking has always been a way of sustenance, it's also a hobby I grew up with. I cook and bake for fun, not just to eat. Every weekend, I do a project cook or bake where I make something new, or big, or special, or batch make. This weekend's batch cook didn't turn out because the ADHD monster got the better of me and I forgot I had something in the slow cooker on high....

I recently saw a reel about something similar. It was something to the effect of "I could eat only vegan for the rest of my life, but BACONNNNN" and the response was, "Why not go vegan but bacon? Who is telling you to cut bacon out of your life?" It was from someone who is vegan and said the best way to move the needle was to be accepting that not everyone can give up meat/dairy altogether and we need to be reasonable and compassionate.

I'm mostly vegetarian now, and I couldn't have done that if my almost entirely vegan (BUT CHEESE) bff weren't there to help guide me on how to use certain foods or how to prepare tofu in ways that worked better for me.

I used to type out my notes because I could easily transcribe what someone was saying very quickly while typing and then go back and hand-write my notes on my iPad, adding in illustrations or other necessary information that wasn't included in the lecture. Just because it's good to do something one way doesn't mean it needs to be done that way at the time of the class.

The author, to me, just feels like a bad teacher who is taking it out on the younger generation between making fun of them and lamenting accommodations/being ableist. I've had plenty of instructors like that, who, even with documented accommodations, denied me what I was supposed to be able to use, and that was 15+ years ago now.

I agree with you that this person should redesign their course if their students aren't paying attention. Alternatively, they should get out of education/academia.
