A dumb move in the first place, if I ever saw one.
It is also a testament to WBD’s willingness to keep boldly iterating its strategy and approach
Gag… Instead of focusing on real innovation in the space somehow, or putting out good, fresh media; this is where the exec pay goes.
In an ironic way, giving up the three letters that were synonymous with quality, was a kind of bold move.

That's how CEOs work. They self congratulate with fanfare for whatever random thing they decide to do, comes up with their own random thing. Sometimes they bring in a fall guy (fall person?) to...

Sometimes they bring in a fall guy (fall person?) to take the blame for stupid things that didn't pan out, or for things they are planning to do but they know will be unpopular, like Ellen Pao.
Cool. I never stopped calling it HBO anyway. I’m sure it’s too much to ask for them to remove some of the dumb reality shows like “Sister Wives”. I expect also to be vindicated by continuing to...

I expect also to be vindicated by continuing to use the correct names for other temporary changes such as the Gulf of Mexico.

Well it certainly did. Back before they started adding all of the Discovery nonsense. Which feels weird to say because Discovery itself used to be synonymous with quality edutainment. And then...
Warner Bros. Discovery thinks HBO has some pretty good brand equity, after all.
Well it certainly did. Back before they started adding all of the Discovery nonsense. Which feels weird to say because Discovery itself used to be synonymous with quality edutainment. And then reality TV came along and ruined every single network that had anything remotely educational on it.
Anyway, I dropped the service shortly after that decision was made because I had to sift through more garbage to find the good stuff. HBO Max, to me, felt like a premium streaming platform. It was a cut above Netflix, Hulu, etc. And now it's just another Netflix with way too much inconsistency in quality of content.
A rebranding isn't going to magically bring me back, either. Hopefully someone with a subscription comes along to inform me that things got better during my time away from it!
So it was actually calculated that we never moved off the hbo.max tag? But in all seriousness, this is a weird move that signals WBD doesn't know what they're doing, or a potential buyer wants the...

But in all seriousness, this is a weird move that signals WBD doesn't know what they're doing, or a potential buyer wants the HBO name back on the thing everyone is paying for. I could make an argument for either way.
As a Canadian and thus not someone to whom HBO chooses to stream at, I didn't really know that they had changed from HBO Max. As a result of the disinterest in the service, this turned into a very...

I thought that quote was sarcasm from Variety at first. Nope, that's sincerely in WB's press release. Unreal.

Marketers gonna market. Gives me Apple's "courage" vibe when removing the headphone jack.
You have to wonder how much money was spent on the rebranding. I'd bet at least 10 million. And now some amount must be spent to roll it back.

Conan knew it. Timestamp is relevant.
No Looney Tunes, no subscription, no matter what you call it.
What’s disappointing to me is that they didn’t make this announcement back on April Fool’s day, another marketing fail.
And now
thiswe may begin to heal.
