    What's everyone else's breakfast choice?

Unless I'm about to do some great physical endeavor, like hike or run in a race, I don't eat breakfast. If I'm going to eat lunch at 12 anyway, I'm usually not hungry until like 10, at which point there's not much point. May as well just tide over for 2 hours.

Same, although sometimes I go wild and add a splash of cream. I love traditional breakfast food, just not at breakfast

On a work day, I have to eat something for breakfast. I wake up at 5am and don't usually eat until 8-9am though I prepare the breakfast hours ahead.

Same, also not hungry until 10. Coffee with a bit of almond milk cause my stupid digestive system cant handle lactose.

I LOVE breakfast. For me it's protein boosted pancakes (usually about 10% added pea protein these days), eggs, and crispy potatoes on the weekend when I have time to cook. Instant oats with a scoop of peanut butter protein (50% powder peanut butter and 50% pea protein by weight), allulose, pinch of brown sugar, walnuts, and frozen fruit (usually a triple berry mix but sometimes fresh fruit if I have it) on the weekdays. I've found that instant oats in the big containers can be made just by mixing them with boiling water from the kettle (the same way as the little instant oatmeal packets, they just don't put those instructions on the big containers for some unimaginable reason). They're set and at a cool enough temperature by time I walk away to get dressed, so prepping them just after getting out of bed ends up being a fast and pretty filling breakfast. And much better nutrition profile compared to the instant packs for a similar level of convince which I'm a fan of.

Going to try some baked oats after watching this because it looks like a fun change in flavor and texture.

Dead simple, but I'm still impressed that you can commit 30-40 minutes to making breakfast each morning.

It doesn't take that long. Process:

        • Smash some chorizo onto the cold pan. Set to medium heat.
        • Add a couple handfuls of pre-chopped sofrito and potato.
        • Drizzle olive oil, chili paste, tomato paste, and garlic paste. Season.
        • Let come to a simmer. Break up and mix.
        • Simmer on med-low heat for 10 minutes or so while I do other things (make coffee, pack lunches, etc)
        • Mix a bit. Simmer for another 10 minutes while I do a few more tasks (unload dishwasher, get kids bags ready, etc)
        • Put into containers for transport and cook the eggs in the same pan. Takes another 5 minutes for the eggs and again, minimal watching so I do other stuff.

        Easy peasy.

I'm an excellent cook, so it's not that what you're describing is beyond my skill level or something, I just think it's wild that you're talking about cooking a hash as if it was as simple as making toast. All power to ye!

If I have <10 minutes I’ll do a poor man’s Tamago Kake Gohan (aka microwave leftover rice until piping hot and then crack an egg into it and stir vigorously). Usually topped with some combination of tamari, sesame oil, and Lao Gan Ma.

If I have <5 minutes, a big scoop of cottage cheese and a spoonful of Lao Gan Ma (again) stirred in. The protein and fat content keeps me decently full and it’s usually not a problem to get through lunch!

Oooh I used to do Tamago Kake Gohan. I eventually got tired of it because I couldn't find furikake I liked enough to keep doing it. Any suggestions?

Lao Gan Ma is my go-to condiment for most anything savory, so that tends to be my first choice for it anymore, especially when I run out of Furikake because I’ve been using it for other heathen purposes like as a popcorn topper.

Started cooking breakfast for my toddler is that he’s eating food. We got a good system for making waffles and maybe some meat like bacon or sausage plus avocado and fruit and yogurt maybe with peanut butter. I started making americanos after inheriting an espresso maker that was being replaced.

Also really enjoy setting up steel cut oats in our rice cooker with a timer to be ready in the morning when we add fruit and milk. It’s super good that way!!!

Hashbrowns. Two basted eggs. Two sausage links. Every single day.

I often like to make a batch of plain oats for a few days and put a faster breakfast together. This recipe looks pretty tasty which might be a fun change, but I usually prefer savory oats. My go to is with green onions, a sunny side up or soft boiled egg, soy sauce, and a bit of chili crisp. Or if I'm feeling lazy for dinner, I'll make the same but sub the egg for a can of sardines or tuna in oil.

When I make steel cut oats on the stovetop, I'll also make enough for a few days and reheat as needed - they just take too long otherwise, and I really can't be bothered to remember to soak a single portion every single night!

I was initially kind of dismissive of the baking idea as unnecessary, but actually really like the idea of cooling them into portable blocks for the days I need to leave extra early. Good share!

Interested in looking more into the baked oats, but until then I don't have to put as much effort into my breakfast when I'm struggling to get my pour over coffee brewed first

Mine is very simple, boiled eggs and a piece of fruit, the number of eggs depends on how much exercise the day requires, boiling a bunch of eggs beforehand and leaving them in the fridge does not take much effort.

I do rotate and mix some added ingredients like olive oil, turmeric, vinegar, cottage cheese, different spices so it is not too repetitive and of course some salt and pepper.

For me, having something that contains added sugar and butter does not sit right with the idea of a healthy breakfast.
