Also reported across multiple news outlets, four bullet casings had the following messages inscribed on them:
“notices bulges OwO what’s this?” (this was on the fired casing of the bullet which hit Charlie Kirk in the neck, it's a reference to a furry copypasta which I won't link here.)
“Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao” (lyrics of a song about the Italian Resistance, who fought against the Nazis and Italian Socialist Republic in WW2, also featured as a pre-order DLC bonus in Hearts of Iron 4)
"If you read this you are gay LMAO"
He seems more like a terminally online shitposter who has spent too much time on Twitter or the /pol/ board of 4chan than a calculated assassin, which is probably why the FBI were so easily able to catch him.

My concern is how much of this dude is a left wing caricature/boogieman that the right loves to create. Like he all he would need is blue hair and present even remotely LGBTQ. I get online is not real life but the rage and violence advocated from the right, particularly from their politicians, influencers, and those in power is extremely disturbing. Sure you can say people on the "left" are celebrating Kirk's death online but they're a bunch of no ones and from what I've seen, it's been stupid jokes about how Trump/Musk/Rogan should be next. CBS News reported that the father called a youth pastor to calm Robinson after he confronted him and that the pastor called the Marshals.
Robinson's father called a youth pastor who knows Tyler and is close to the family, and he and the pastor tried to calm Robinson down. The sources said the pastor, who also serves as a court security officer, called the U.S. Marshals. The Marshals detained Robinson and kept him secure, while waiting for the FBI. The FBI then took Robinson into custody.
The original post for this thread quotes Trump, who gave a similar story but with different details
Trump told the show that a minister recognized the suspect — who he did not name — from the photos released to the public, and went to his father. The father "convinced the son," Trump said, and took him to a friend who happened to be a U.S. Marshal, to turn him in.
From what I understand he turned himself in, and death sentence on that...sounds like a great argument for the next person to fight to the bitter end instead. I understand that what Trump said...
The father "convinced the son," Trump said, and took him to a friend who happened to be a U.S. Marshal, to turn him in.
"I hope he's going to be found guilty, I would imagine, and I hope he gets the death penalty," Trump added.
From what I understand he turned himself in, and death sentence on that...sounds like a great argument for the next person to fight to the bitter end instead.
I understand that what Trump said won't have to happen, he's not the judge, it's just the reasoning that's so... stupid (in the best case).

I don't understand why we are letting the shape of the online discussion influence reality. Well OK I do understand but I don't understand why there is no pushback.
People are using the reactions of anonymous online accounts, many of which are presumably generated by American adversaries, to help gauge their reactions. I understand it's politically expedient for Trump and co. even if it's gross and immoral but why is no one pointing this out? We live in the age of generative AI, internet comments are literally noise unless you have a relationship with the poster or trust them in some way.
It's truly bizarre that people just accept it, maybe it's willful delusion so they can use anecdotes about hypothetical posters as fuel for their cause? But like, we have LLMs now, hugely popular...

This has been around since forever, and doesn't need hypothetical posters.
"THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE UPSET ABOUT X!" Often boils down to 1000-2000 people across the entire country. Things like twitter where they count likes or upvotes in those numbers sometimes only inflate it more. We are very much in an era of people arguing with ghosts and minority positions.
The disturbing part is the people who will then jump in to DEFEND these extremely minority positions because "well if if the other side is attacking them then I'm against them" and that's how these things escalate and spiral into absurdity and policy.
This is exactly what happens in all culture war issues right now. One side uses a few internet posts as way to broad-brush the ideas to an entire half of the political spectrum. We're boned.
