Merry Christmas!
Like the title says! For some reason I have actually woken up before my kids and I’m the only person stirring in the house — I have nothing to do but browse Tildes while I wait for the day to get started. What’s everyone’s plan today?
Merry Christmas, Tildes!
I don't really celebrate Christmas so I've been chilling out listening to old vinyls and watching a few films. I'm actually currently watching Hurry Up Tomorrow (The Weeknd film) but it's not the "it's so bad it's good" territory, it's just "it's terrible".
I'm also planning to play some Cyberpunk 2077 later on. That, or just chilling out listening to music.
I'm on for work this year. My job only gives us two shifts of one of three major holidays each year, in a forward rotation. Last year I was thanksgiving, this year I'm Christmas, next year I'll be new years, then it starts over. I'm a night shifter, but while I spent Christmas Eve at work last night, I was able to dip out an hour early and get home before my kids got up for presents. So that was nice! I'll be back tonight for day two of my work holiday tonight, hopefully it's as good as last night was!
Thanks for being one of the folks who keeps things going while most of us are celebrating! What sort of work do you do?
Thanks for the thanks! Obfuscating just a tiny bit, I currently work on a specialty team for a local pediatric hospital. My team offers 24/7 coverage, I joined as a night shifter about 2 years ago. My previous job was in public safety, where I also worked on holidays. It's all I've ever known, since starting my life as a professional.
(merry) Christmas goose tehehehe
That's awesome you didn't miss time with the kids and presents :) safe roads!
Happy Holidays folks!
Merry chrysler
Merry crimsmims
And Toyota good night!
About those eight days of Honda car. How was the trip?
Merry Christmas all!
We always stay at my parents Christmas Eve but this year my wife has the flu. We still spent the night together but she slept terribly. In the morning we open presents and have a Swedish tea ring, then drive to my in-laws. We have a second breakfast because we are hobbits, then open presents with my wife's family. My wife is now napping due to her poor sleep and I'm just watching my nephew play Stray while I wait for more family to show up this afternoon.
Santa was kind to me this year with a lot of Steam gift cards, so I'm looking forward to buying a bunch of games I won't have time to play.
What is a Swedish tea ring? Everybody drink tea in a circle?
I got a matcha tea whisk this year :D maybe I can have a Japanese tea....ring?
Replace tea with coffee and kind of?
It is a delicious dessert that I guess you eat with coffee? I don't know, we aren't Swedish, my mother just made it one year and my wife loved it and now it is part of our Christmas morning tradition!
Oh my what a delicious and delightful tradition! Glory to moms!
What do you do with all the floor space you save by not owning shoes?
Fill it with lembas and pipe-weed, obviously.
Extra chairs for guests? Second and third pantries?
I don't have any plan for today. I live alone and wasn't intending to visit anyone so its just like any other day.
Which is pretty great honestly.
Chill time is nice :) sounds cozy!
Knock knock knock -- huh what's at the door?
Thanks!
Thats some impressive calligraphy =)
Jolly Snowflake Day!
Merry Christmas 🎁

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I had a meal with extended family and I'm catching up on my reading. I've had too many sweets this week but will go back to healthier eating when we return home.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and best wishes for the New Year!
Happy Holidays, folks! Wishing health, peace and prosperity to you all.
Thanks, you too! * Wave wave wave
Merry Christmas! I hope everybody's able to chill and relax. :)
Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope Father Christmas brought you all what your hearts desire 🎄
We’ve just got back from Christmas Day at my parents’, and all five of us are pretty exhausted. Kids have gone straight to bed in their clothes, full of turkey, chocolate, cheese, and crisps.
I received some truly lovely gifts, but as I grow ever older I feel the best gift of all is the time spent with my parents, siblings, in-laws, niblings, fiancée, and three kids. I feel very fortunate to have what I am learning is not a very common dynamic, and I am grateful for every loud, chaotic, and joyful minute.
Mulled wine and a movie before bed now, and then on for round two at my parents-in-law’s tomorrow! Let the joy be unconfinéd, fa la la la la la la la la! 🎄
All the best to each of you whose contributions and ideas make this place tick tock all year round.
I'll report success from my end. Santa gifts were a hir with my young one, my wife got me this badass 8BitDo NES calculator that was absolutely on my 'too indulgent to buy for myself' list, and despite a divorce in the extended family, most affected seem to be better off!
I'll cap off this fine, fat filled day playing Fortnite with my friends and drinking wine like any cool grade 11 boy... ahem, I mean 40 year old man should.
Exhausting! My girlfriend is Mexican so Xmas 1 takes place at midnight and involves a lot of faces stuffed with temales, silly movies, and trading WAY too many gifts. My body is foreign to the concept of sleeping in so a cool 4 hrs later I get to start running around town for Xmas 2 - A more traditional white boy affair of family gathered around football, beers, and shrugging off causal offensive remarks from step dad. I'm a bit extra beat this year as I lost a good friend in an accident about a week ago. So that's been kind of a persistent thing occuping a section of my consciousness but also not really wanting to acknowledge it today. No one in my family knows about it yet and I didn't want to kill the vibe so I also had to kind of uncomfortably sit with that. It was still a nice Christmas though.
