Some specific things I noticed about how it works If you list general types of animals, then list a more specific type, it will sometimes strike out the general one and then give you credit for the specific one. For example, I put in monkey, then later i typed chimp and it didn't erase monkey, but then after i put in baboon and it did strike out monkey. I also put in snake, and then put in boa constrictor and rattlesnake, and neither of those got the original snake crossed out.
Also, it will take extinct species of animals too.
Notably, some don't have emojis and don't use general stand-ins, possibly explains why snake didn't get canceled out, boa constrictor and rattlesnake were guessed after the birds but before mouse/rat and there's not even a general snake emoji for them

A recent carpet beetle infestation led to me just appending various common foods to the word beetle, which was surprisingly solid as a strat. I feel like I should've remembered more spiders, but it also was not generous when it came to their common names. Also it's a shame I wasn't more of a dinosaur kid because I was very pleased with myself for realizing those counted. Playing animal crossing also earned me a fair few fish and I probably could've gotten a higher number if I'd stuck with that thread and not gotten distracted. Initially, I was curious to identify its definition of "animal". My first several choices were things like "bolete", "plankton", "protist", "tardigrade", "flea" etc. Then I wandered into "Neanderthal", "Australopithicus", (huh, those work) ... "woolly mammoth", "mastodon" (both work), etc.

I listed a bunch of Aussie animals and it asked if I was Australian when I submitted Dingo then gave me that at the end. Idk if that impacted it or if it was because I had listed several other canines first
There's also a really good chance that I'm misremembering what knocked 'Dog' off the board for me. It was a very intense situation with animal names flying all over the place.
For sure, I don't think dog got overwritten for me but maybe it did. I was trying to follow the directions about ignoring the visual stuff happening. Like the title changing color if you named an animal with a color in its name

Quite fun with english as a second language. I got to 90, and yes, I also forgot horse.
edit: 148 second try. It helps to imagine settings in which you see various animals, like scenes from a safari, your last time visiting a zoo etc. Still, there are whole categories of animals, like birds, where I have zero idea what most of them are called in English since our terminology is completely different.
I used this method, too. But I for some reason chose The Lion King and named a bunch of animals from there, then tried doing the same with Finding Nemo. Somehow that one fiercely triggered my lethologica, and it took me a long time to try to switch from Nemo to clown fish.

Some specific things I noticed about how it works
If you list general types of animals, then list a more specific type, it will sometimes strike out the general one and then give you credit for the specific one. For example, I put in monkey, then later i typed chimp and it didn't erase monkey, but then after i put in baboon and it did strike out monkey. I also put in snake, and then put in boa constrictor and rattlesnake, and neither of those got the original snake crossed out.Also, it will take extinct species of animals too.

Could not remember the word "cobra," although there's no guarantee it wouldn't just count that under "snake." It was kind of weird what counted as a more specific animal and what was its own category. I started off naming canines, and while "wild dog" wasn't accepted, "African wild dog" was.

It will replace a less specific animal with a more specific one, so it replaces snake with cobra, but then you can also do python, asp, etc.

A recent carpet beetle infestation led to me just appending various common foods to the word beetle, which was surprisingly solid as a strat. I feel like I should've remembered more spiders, but it also was not generous when it came to their common names. Also it's a shame I wasn't more of a dinosaur kid because I was very pleased with myself for realizing those counted. Playing animal crossing also earned me a fair few fish and I probably could've gotten a higher number if I'd stuck with that thread and not gotten distracted. Also wow is there really absolutely no lizard or snake emoji? that's a shame.

Initially, I was curious to identify its definition of "animal". My first several choices were things like "bolete", "plankton", "protist", "tardigrade", "flea" etc. Then I wandered into "Neanderthal", "Australopithicus", (huh, those work) ... "woolly mammoth", "mastodon" (both work), etc.
Eventually, I settled into "just playing" ... got to around 90, but I don't think it "counts" since I wasted most of my initial time-limit testing boundaries.
Fun site, fun game; I'll have to go back and try for real.
