I’ve been asking this for years, so I doubt it will be true this time: Will this be the film that finally ends Jared Leto’s Hollywood career? We can only hope.

Because, IIRC, a lot of actors negotiate being credited as an "executive producer" for movies they're in even though they don't take on many (if any) of the responsibilities associated with the job title. It's a way for them to ensure they get more money in the long run, and it can also give them a bit more creative control over the show/movie too.
I thought Disney was going to reign in the budget here since the last Tron movie wasn't a huge money grosser. But apparently the budget was between 180-200M. Which is absolutely insane.

It’s not a good movie from a storytelling perspective, but neither are the other ones. From a spectacle perspective it was fine (although Jesus there are other famous things besides the light cycle trails)
Yeah the spectacle was solid, but they overused light trails on EVERYTHING in this movie. They even use light trails in some instances where it makes basically zero sense.

Similar for me, went to see it because of how much I enjoyed Legacy and well more Tron is more Tron. Overall did enjoy the film, and I would agree Leto's acting style did work for the character...

Personally I think it may have worked even better if he was in the Athena role, since that character also doesn't really grow beyond that where Ares is meant to have in the final act.
Otherwise only kinda gripe with it was how they'd reference but then ignore but then tease of events of Legacy as being important, which I guess is left over from the original script when it was intended to be a direct sequel?
I like most of the tron movies, and maybe I live in a box... But I didn't even know this was in the works. I have seen no advertisements or announcements. Maybe I'm inattentive, but why is this...

As someone who loves Tron: Legacy despite its many flaws, I lost all interest in Ares once they announced Jared Leto was starring in it. I know a lot of people who don’t even like the first one...

But in talking to friends, not a single person I know saw it this weekend and most weren’t interested in seeing it at all.
I saw Tron: Legacy five times in theaters, and events came together that allowed me the time to go see Ares this weekend without any other family obligations... I watched Deep Pocket Monster try...

I watched Deep Pocket Monster try to collect full sets of Pokémon cards on YouTube instead.

Decent movie, worth a watch, the music is definitely worth going to the cinema for. Visuals too, to be honest.
Writing and acting is weak though and personally I found it cringe inducing.
Overall a 6/10 for me. Main villain was the reason I bumped it up to a 6.
I loved the first Tron so I've been interested in a sequel. I'm also busy. I've seen some ads for Tron: Ares, but I don't understand what it's about. They appear to be in the real world, but...

Probably not. People like him currently run the government.
I mean he did produce this one, so not quite the same as usual.

Rein in = pulling the reins on a galloping horse, slowing down, getting control.
Reign = rule, as in, a king reigns over a country.
Huh. Well at least I didn't say rain in.

This is exactly how I feel about Ben Affleck in The Accountant!

I feel like this was kind of a niche movie? It seemed like only people who really liked the last one had heard of this one.

Someone on here said a while ago that hes the whole reason the movie even got made, so I gave it a chance, and yeah he ruined it for me.
If my only interest in the movie is the score, should I go see it?

Tell me more about the score. I’m intrigued.
Nine Inch Nails composed the score
just that the previous two Tron movies had fantastic scores so I have hopes for this one to be worth it just for the music

Go into it with nothing it’ll be better.
The entire movie is basically laid out for you in the first ten minutes anyway, you may as well wait
