What are two things that are your favourite colour?

I would like you to think of two things that you associate with your favourite colour. For example, if your favourite colour were black you might choose "the night sky" and "New Zealand rugby." Try not to put too much thought into it, and don't expand the spoiler sections below until you have your two things.

The point of this These two things that you have thought of are supposed to describe your personality. Please, discuss with the class. Please also share any other fun thought exercises you have done as part of teambuilding/icebreaking sessions. They're tacky and dumb, but I enjoy hearing about them, if just to cringe.
Some backstory Inspired by the "favourite colour" thread over in ~tildes, I thought back to an old job where as part of an ice-breaking exercise we were tasked to do exactly this. We all sat around in a circle, and listed our two things that were our favourite colours. There were a lot of sports teams, flowers, foods... that sort of thing. My turn came around, and I announced that my two objects were fire & blood (I hadn't seen or read Game of Thrones at this stage either). When we had all revealed our pair of coloured items, the guide on this awkward teambuilding journey revealed that the two things we had picked were indicative of our personalities. Cue an awful lot of funny and/or concerned looks pointed my direction. I never lived it down, but nor did I last long in that job before actually wanting to burn the place to the ground, so...

That's my favorite too! I call it teal. Most things marked as cyan are close, but a bit too light for my preference.

That would be teal. Although, the images you've linked are more turquoise or sapphire, or in that range.

I can't think of any things that are my favourite colour, so that's going to create a distortion in my answers. I can't immediately picture any natural things coloured burgundy or dark purple. I mean, I can picture some shirts I have in this colour, but that's not really what you're looking for, I think. Maybe some flowers?

Actually... I just thought of one thing that's my favourite colour: red wine. In fact, I recently bought a pair of shoes in my favourite colour, and the colour on the label was "wine". Now that I think about it, that's a common label for clothes in this colour.

However, having read your "point of this" section... I hate red wine. Absolutely detest it, on so many levels and in so many ways. I just happen to like the colour, and there aren't many things that are naturally that colour.

Flowers and wine don't tell you anything about my personality. (Except maybe in some bizarro evil parallel mirror universe.) They just tell you that my favourite colour doesn't occur naturally on a lot of things.

A co-mod used to call me a contrarian (with fondness). I embraced that aspect of myself a looong time ago. But I try to be constructively contrarian where I can, rather than disagree just for the sake of it. In fact, being constructively contrarian came in very handy in a former career of mine. It's a useful trait at times.

As for how that relates to red wine... nope. (Sayeth the contrarian.) Nothing to do with it. If anything, I should hate the colour of red wine, given how much I associate red wine with bad things. But, over the decades, as I've refined my personal tastes and styles, I've ended up liking the colour variously called "burgundy", "claret", and "wine" - just because it's a nice colour. The one has no connection with the other.

Mine is yellow, and the things I associate with it most strongly are daffodils (one of my favourite flowers, not coincidentally) and the sun.

Edit after reading the spoilers: I’ve always found daffodils to be very joyful flowers - the first time you see one after a long English winter is a great herald of warmer weather! I’m not sure I totally consider myself to be a sunny cheerful sort of person, but it is the type of person I strive to be. It just doesn’t actually come naturally to me; the dour Scot and whinging Englishman stereotypes show up strongly in my genes but I try to overcome them as best I can!

My favourite colour is blue, the colour of the sky on a summer's day and the colour of the superb fairywren.

edit: I'm reading the spoilered section now. I love animals and nature, and summer is my favourite season. The bird I mentioned is also native to my country and state, and I have been thinking about getting a tattoo of said bird.

I was originally going to say the ocean, but decided against it as the ocean reflects the sky, and has many moods and shades - I'm very fond of the beach and the sea, and beaches are my mental safe place, so I think that answer would have also said something about me.

    • Reykjavík's rainbow street
    • A rainbow when it's not just faint

Most colors are pretty, especially in combinations and gradients, so it's impossible for me to say which one color would qualify as my favorite color.

Special mention goes to a red curtain in our apartment (it's the landlord's) that the sun shines on for an hour per day in spring and fall. Every time I see it, I try again to capture it in a picture. It never works. The default is way too pink, and with custom white balance and such you can get closer, but it's never as vibrantly warming beautiful red as in real life to the naked eye.

Edit: now I read the "don't expand the spoiler until after"

are supposed to describe your personality. Please, discuss with the class

I think I love the rainbow street so much because most non-childish things, especially public constructions and infrastructure, are rather dull-colored. It's a very nice change, at least for infra where it's okay to get distracted (not like while driving a vehicle), as well as a public statement that it's okay to be different

I’ve never been much of a favorite color person. I have always favored neutrals like black and grey for everything. I started gardening, and I found my favorite flowers were anything light purple in color.

I was pleasantly surprised to realize my color preferences had stepped off the dark colors and neutrals wheel. Never thought of myself as a purple person either. But here we are. :)

    Lilacs and figs.

I love a darker but vibrant purple color. My Aunt had a huge (and I mean bigger than the house huge) lilac bush in her backyard that was a beautiful deep purple color. The fragrance in spring was always amazing and was always an dication that summer was just around the corner. My Grandpa was a huge gardener and had a greenhouse that he grew figs in year round. I can still remember the smell of the greenhouse in the winter, when the rest of his yard was covered in snow. He grew the sweetest dark purple figs and we would make homemade fig cookies with them for the holiday's.

For me, this shows how much of my childhood has influenced my adult life. In the past few years I have started gardening and some of the first things I bought were lilac bushes (deep purple, just like my Aunt's) and fig trees (3 different varieties because it's just more fun). Living in the south I haven't had the need to build a greenhouse, but it is on the list of things to do - my inner child wants to relive those memories with my Grandpa, even if he is no longer here.

Oranges makes sort of sense, since they are a fruit and i like fruits, but I'm not sure if that says anything about my personality. Edit: How it describes my personality - blues in general provoke calming thoughts, as does the sound of the sea. My friends and family often remark that I have a calming demeanor, in fact people (and animals) often turn to me in times of distress. Regarding the Peacock - my first thought was pride and beauty. I do take a lot of pride in my work and I greatly appreciate beauty - as any good Libra would. :) This was a fun little exercise! I enjoyed thinking about my favorite colors and items that make me appreciate the color teal so much. The major reason I like that color so much is because I can mix it perfectly in acrylics and I love using it in my paintings!

I can't think of my favorite color and you want me to name two things that have such color? :-D

Well, I always liked orange. The kind of Ford Focus ST. So this would be the first thing I guess...? We have a few flower pots of such color at home. Also Linus Tech Tips has such color as their signature one. So I gues thoe are second and third things of such color.

I like how sharp this color looks, it is very vibrant.

Oh, and Tigger has tha color too! So Tigger and Ford Focus ST are those two things you asked for.

To the point of this I consider Tigger to be chaotic good character. The same goes for Linus Tech Tips or maybemore soecifically to some of the people there. This describes me quite well. I tend to do the right thing without putting a lot of thought into it before actually doing it.

The Ford Focus ST is probably because it is flashy, it stands out in the parking lot or on the road. I'm strange combination of extrovert and introvert. I won't approach unknown people in the bar, but if I'm there with friends I will likely be the one who is heard quite a lot :-) So maybe the extrovert part of me is the orange Ford Focus ST?
