2026 United States midterm elections distractions topic
It was quite popular last time so I figure we could use another round of it.
This topic is a casual chat space and link drop for literally ANYTHING besides US politics for those of us that want to occupy our time with something other than scrolling feeds and checking the news.
This will be a noisy topic. Please use the ignore feature if you do not want to see it in your feed.
This guy has been making animations of pokemon fights using a custom engine. Theyre nice little mini distractions.

Self-serving self-promotion: Tildes has two currently active events for anyone into gaming:
Anyone is welcome to participate, and you don’t need to commit to anything or go for the full month. You could try out a single game tonight and then post about it in the Backlog Burner topic, for example — or simply talk with someone else about a game they’ve played.
The Bingo site lets you generate 3x3 bingo cards, so you could even go for a mini three-game bingo win!
We’d love to have anyone who’s looking to get away from the news tonight and into some fun old games instead.
How about a riddle!
What's something the more you believe to be real, the less it is so?
Do spoiler tag your answer so others have a chance to guess.
I stumbled across this guy’s game dev channel last week, he’s been doing videos about improving active ragdolls with simple techniques and satisfying demos. I’m not a game dev but I love a good ragdoll.

I'm irrationally excited for Dune. I stumbled on this great video essay about the artistry and craft of the series, and the power of human creativity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9w-K5-ldu0

Spelunkr.tv has really taken off in the past week or so since I made the post about it. New channels, a new APK for phone and TV, and a lot of cool things in the works if you want to take a gander.
Honestly, I'm just waiting for WoW: Forever to release. I already voted like two weeks ago and am curious to see how my local ballot issues come out, but I'm not much thinking about it because I just want to play WoW.
I full expect Microsoft (They're Blizzard in name only and I refuse to call them that anymore) to absolutely butcher it in due time with microtransactions and dumb decisions, several of which we've seen already between Sky Elves (really?) and Sharding rather than proper servers. But I've been playing on Private Servers so long, I absolutely have no issue going back to them if they absolutely screw this one up.
Reservations aside, I'm looking forward to getting into an MMO again. I tried with Monsters & Memories when it released on Oct 1st and it's a great game in lots of ways, but a little too beholden to the Everquest philosophy, which means I just do not have the time or the inclination to play it much beyond the probably 20-30 hours I put into it. WoW has always been my mainstay since beta back in 04; it's been an on again, off again game for me in those 22 years. I remember being pretty skeptical of it at the time, because I was deep into Final Fantasy 11, but after playing the beta for WoW, I pretty much quit playing FFXI altogether and never looked back.
Here's a cool webpage I had in my screenshots album (2021).
