The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
In the last couple of threads a few people expressed that they are enjoying updates in here as they don't have time to play. Well, today I spent a bit of time flying around town making screenshots from various projects in and around town. It isn't everything that is happening on the server by a long shot. But at the very least it is a showcase of what is happening nearby town. Other people with awesome builds farther away I did not get to but I hope these people will post their own screenshots ;)
Edit:
Added a bunch of descriptions and tried to tag a lot of people I could remember out of the top of my head. I forgot a bunch of people, I'll try to update those people I forgot to mention once I am in game :)
Appreciate these! I logged in earlier today after not playing for a few weeks and enjoyed seeing how much progress people have made. It was nice seeing the metro system have a complete line. I went around and added signs for the stations that weren't marked along the route so now people can easily see which station they're at when they stop at one.
Hey thats-a me :D
Thanks for these creesch, fun to see!
As someone who is active but not running distant horizons, these screenshots were quite cool. It would be useful to have some brief descriptions for each link
Descriptions added :)
I might add a description later. I mostly wanted to just give an impression of it all, the individual house owners can be seen on dynmap. Also, I had made these screenshots and then later on my phone saw the new thread was up. Just copying over the links on my phone was annoying enough ;)
I've been on vacation the last couple weeks, but I should be back on again starting Wednesday-ish
Also yes that is my house and it very much so is NOT pretty lol
I don't have any plans to play at all, but really appreciate all the screenshots! It's quite neat seeing the town grow over time.
Thank you for the tour btw!
I love that Menger sponge on eyechoirs estate!
Hey all! Just as a reminder, the Hall of Heroes is ready for people to fill with armor stands! It's been looking a bit empty with just me and Minty in there. I can extend the hall as well, so don't be wary of taking a spot!
Can you remind me again where it is? I thought I knew where it was but I was thinking of the museum.
It was a good mistake though because the museum was a fun detour.
It's on the river between spawn and town. So, behind the pirate ship basically. Hard to miss once you are there, as there is a white glowing bridge connecting to it :)

I saw someone give this cycle a term on reddit, but I can't recall the name. But basically I go from being hyper-obsessed with Minecraft for a few weeks to being totally disinterested in it out of nowhere and I'm currently in the "disinterested" part :( It'll pick back up in the next few weeks, I'm sure. In the meanwhile, hope yall are well and having fun!
A familiar feeling :) This round, I have maintained my obsession for much longer.
If you do get your interest back, might I suggest a smaller project than tunneling a metro system? ;) I remember you mentioning that it took more effort than expected. I also see other people who work on big projects often taking a break from them and work on smaller things.
Anyway, hope to you see back in a few weeks! :)
Yeah the metro system is part of the reason haha. I enjoyed the project, and I'm glad to see people have expanded on it, but it definitely burned me out faster than I expected!
Hey I noticed you build the tunnel called "Future Home of The Hamster Tunnel to another River" is this something you wanna expand on yourself or would you be okay with other people decorating it? It seemed like a fun plan for in the future
Yes, by all means! That was something I started on the first day of the server. I was trying to connect the two rivers so we could explore the world more easily by boat, but I haven't really touched it much since.
Oh man, i know that feeling extremely well. There's an excitement about having an idea and a plan to execute it. After that's done, I end up in indecision limbo about what to do next. Between that and being busy with life stuff, I haven't been online much recently either.
As I also mentioned to hamstergeddon, can I suggest also tackling smaller projects or lower effort projects? What I have found is keeping me around a lot this round is taking on "smaller" things. Or at least things that I can park and iterate on later. A lot of that involves infrastructure like building roads, the nether hub and various other things like that.
They have the added benefit of still getting results between iterations. I also greatly enjoy assisting other projects here and there. The past few days I have spent mostly underground trying to light all the caves under the arena. Meaning I got to see a bunch of cave biomes I had not before and generally see some funky generated stuff.
Very much agree. I have also found myself "stuck" in the last month or so, but building the rail line to the cabana has helped. The rail line building itself is pretty boring, but it frees my mind up to cook up other small projects to work on. It's definitely not a solution for everyone, though. Sometimes it's best to not force things and just take a break. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. :)
Oh yeah, absolutely nothing wrong with taking a break either :)
Btw, love those billboards!
I really love the rail system! Did you also create the ones in Tildestown? It's quite impressive!
No I can't take credit for any of the red line. That was mostly a joint effort between a bunch of people, and it's far more impressive of an undertaking than my tiny branch line :)
Definitely agree that smaller projects are good for motivation in general, but I like building huge or complex things :)
Fair enough :)
For the remaining railroad space in the transit hub, I was considering a south bound line that ends at the PVP arena. The Green Line perhaps?
The line would start underground as it leaves TildeTown. I've drawn a map of the planned path. It would go through the crater near the center of town, and I was imagining a green floating bridge that matched the materials of what is already currently there.
The line would emerge from underground once it is past the moss farm and run with the path heading south to Godzilla and the PVP arena.
I really like that idea. In town it might be good to go south to the iron farm then curve west a bit so that later on we could add a stop so that a metro line services the farms clustered there
Sadly my computer died (pretty sure it is the GPU) and as I am currently unemployed searching for work I do not plan on replacing it soon. So, I will probably not be on the server for the next little bit. That does mean the half finished stables by the transit hub will stay in that state for a while. I do want to finish it once my computer is fixed though.
I have an old GTX 970 collecting dust that I could send your way for free if it's compatible. I'd rather it see some use than sit in my closet until I finally end up recycling it.
Thank you for the offer. That would potentially work, I previously had a Radeon HD 7870. I will need to look into it more, but won't have a chance for a few days. I will send you a DM with a bit more info for shipping to see if it is feasible.
Edit: I had a few minutes and googled connectors of the GPUs, it seems to have same connectors and similar power draw so it should work
Yeah, the 970 has the same 2x6 pin connector setup and a lower TDP than the 7870. Should even be a decent boost in performance!
What was the GPU? Too old to be covered by warranty?
Seven years old I think, I bought it second hand five years ago. Definitely no warranty now
Nice to see the Tilde MC server back online. Last time I was on tilde it was being shutdown. When did it come back?
Also does anyone plan on using the island north of the guardian farm? X -2846 Z 2084 https://i.jaoh.xyz/Screenshot_20240907_191934.png
If not I am going to use it as the location for my base.
We came back in mid July.
No plans, so go for it, but I’ll just say be careful about your nether portal linkage. You don’t want your base to accidentally flood with guardians, they’re scary when not contained!
I had some issues with portal links just trying to get the farm set up, so it’s currently in a stable state but it took a bit of tinkering to get it safe.
I think if you get someone to create a portal in the nether at the matching coordinates for your island (as in, make sure both portals exist before you light them) you should be safe.
Is there a reason someone left a scaffold of nether wart blocks up my tower? And plugging the hole to the geode I converted for easier harvesting? Kind of a dick move
You can use the
/co inspect
command to see who placed the blocks. But this is probably a "better to assume incompetence than malice" situation.@GravySleeve!!!! Incompetent AND Malicious
Oh yeah, sorry forgot about that. Used my last rocket trying to get out of there and didn't have my enderchest. Then I couldn't get to the top of your tower to get home! Make some stairs!
Why would I put stairs on the outside of my tower?!?! That makes no sense!
What if there is a fire? You need a fire escape.
Luckily, my tower isn't combustible
I have enjoyed this thread very much. Thank you both. 😂
This thread is making me want to cover Talon's tower in scaffolding now
I will dynamite everything you've built
Guess we'll just have to test that theory. I've got a few dozen extra buckets of lava handy. :D
Let's not drop natural disasters on each other please :P
YOU NEVER LET US HAVE ANY FUN!!! storms off - door slams
Just as long as you don't mind all the lava in your volcano mysteriously becoming obsidian
Oh I didn't realize this command worked! Thanks now I can finally see who my neighbor is haha
Oh, I did that for you already. It is lazerdye :)
@Lazerdye hey i am your neighour on the server! Were there any areas you wanted to reserve for your own? I dont wanna get in the way of your plans
Hi! I have not been able to play the past few weeks, if you want to build something near my builds go ahead!
LOL
@Auk I think you were the one responsible for creating that dark oak bridge and the path around it at the end of the river. It's close to the base I build. Would you be okay with me incorporating that path in my town? It would still be accessible but I might make it from stone etc
Yes, the path leading towards the jungle from town and its associated bridge(s) is stuff I built. I'm fine with people linking into it or modifying the materials/route, as long as some path in that general direction remains all is good.
@eyechoirs, small potential issue.... look what I found west of the Arena.
Edit:
On the bright side, good supply of copper nearby!
I would like to let eyechoirs know that I am growing impatient in my waiting for sick arena battles.
Ah yeah, I think that's the one I broke into the other day. Is it an issue? I mean it's all lit up, and I don't think the spawners would activate from the surface, so I doubt it contributes to the mob cap. Is there some mechanic I'm not aware of?
No seems like I had the wrong impression about those spawners. In that case we are making good progress lighting up the caves. In fact, unless I missed some big cave I think it is almost done. I'll double check tomorrow.
Tea even helped out earlier :)
Well you successfully bullied me into helping. It's only fair if I want to get to dueling sooner.
Are those trial chambers? What's the issue with those?
They are within the 128 radius of the arena and have spawners in them.
The spawners in trial chambers need line-of-sight to a player to be active
Just a silly question but why is the map a square? Does it have a world border?
The map is square because I have artificially limited the range dynmap can render. The world border is far outside of the rendered part and is marked with a red line.
Ah thanks for the answer!
What is the reason for doing so?
Disk space.
Yeah, speaking from experience, dynmap can very quickly overtake storage with tile data for the various high resolution maps.
