For a lot of other games, I'll just roll my own music and just keep the game sounds. But FTL just doesn't feel like FTL without that music for me.
Agreed. FTL's soundtrack is excellent to just zone out to. It's a soundtrack that I can just put on while playing through the game and never get tired of.

Bloodborne has an amazing soundtrack as well.
Halo has one of the most iconic soundtracks out there.
Ori and the Blind Forest has a beautiful score as well.
Undertale's music is great as well.
Doom 2016's soundtrack is probably one of the better metal albums of the decade, haha.
My vote goes for the Nier soundtracks as well, mainly Automata. Absolutely wonderful and despite being over 3 hours long I never feel more than a couple of dull moments.

Another one is Machinarium. I enjoy most of the songs on it, but my favorite is probably By the Wall on the bonus EP. It's so slow and melancholy and wistful.

I don't know if it's because I played retro games more often and for longer that those songs are stuck in my head, but I have a deep love for the Secret of Mana soundtrack as well as Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. The super Mario rpg soundtrack is a masterpiece to me. Timeless, even.
I like music from more modern games but I still have the final fantasy 7 soundtrack on my phone and stuff from say... Overwatch or Halo is great, just not as catchy or listenable.
Hotline Miami for that beautiful 80's synthwave. It just gets you HYPED, every time that beat hits oh my god. Feels like taking a shot of Novocaine right to the brain

All 120 of the game's songs are fantastic, and each of them conveys some level of emotion, whether it be excitement, humour, or sadness.
Yep, same here :D You might know of these already, but if you like hacknet's soundtrack you might like the soundtracks of Shenzen I/O, Silicon Zeroes, and hackmud too.

Starcraft (original) and Diablo (both 1 and 2). Can definitely code all day listening to those. edit: OK, tbh code for a while then get the urge to reinstall these and play for the rest of the day.

I really like the music for Shatter too, even though I've never actually played the game.
I really like Yasunori's Mitsuda work in general and Xenogears in particular. Xenogears: Creid is my benchmark album I use whenever I have a new headphone.

Not my favorite perse, but Bioshock Infinite had a really clever soundtrack. I don't really know how to use spoiler tags on here, so I'm just going to put a big SPOILERS AHEAD right here......

SPOILERS AHEAD!!
So anyways, Bioshock Infinite deals with quantum physics, with "tears" into alternate realities being prevalent in the world. There is a character named Albert Fink that uses these tears to find music from a multitude of eras, such as Fortunate Son, or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and he converts them into his own. As a result, the game is full of iconic music that has been covered to sound like it would in 1912. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I still listen to the Grim Fandango soundtrack about once a month. It's not entirely nostalgia as I do like that style of music and should probably try to find more.

Ragnarök's soundtrack is extremely nostalgic to me and it's really good, in my obviously biased opinion. I like it so much I recently downloaded the whole thing and made a playlist with a couple dozen tracks that took me way back even though I hadn't played in over a decade. And then promptly redownloaded the game cause I couldn't stop listening to the soundtrack. Didn't play for very long though. Turns out I don't really care too much for the game itself, but every time I hear its music I get the urge to play.
I may be showing my age and love for the 80's music scene, but GTA: Vice City had some of the most enjoyable music I've had to compliment a great game.

Wrath of the Lich King expansion had some of the most atmospheric and and goose-bump inducing songs. I love every time I end up in Grizzly Hills for whatever reason

My runner up is VA-11 HALL-A's soundtrack and bonus album by Garoad, the songs bring so much life to the game's universe. Even long after finishing the game I find myself going back to that album to give it a listen
Ocarina of Time has an amazing soundtrack. I think the fact that most people recognize at least one song from the game really speaks to this. And the soundtrack itself helped with the world building.

Bastion [1] has really good soundtracks!
Both Bastion and Transistor have fantastic soundtracks. I haven't played/heard it yet, but I've heard great things about Pyre as well.
indeed, and you should play it if you haven't already
Oh man, when I first head the soundtrack I had to start playing it. When I got my guitar into the right tuning I realized that was 50% of the magic. I love playing around in that tuning now.
(For anyone curious: C F A# D# G C)

Ben Prunty's work is really good...
... and Cipher: the Score for Banking on Bitcoin is exceptionally good for work/study.
Ummm, probably PPPPPP, the soundtrack of VVVVVV.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2. That soundtrack has cemented itself in my brain ever since I first played the game.
Honorable mention, any FIFA soundtrack.
Both Nier Games get near (ha) constant play on my ipod. There's just something so ethereal and special about the music from those games.
Bloodborne has an amazing soundtrack as well.

My vote goes for the Nier soundtracks as well, mainly Automata. Absolutely wonderful and despite being over 3 hours long I never feel more than a couple of dull moments.
The Halo 1 menu music is probably my favorite track from any game ever.
DOOM 2016 is what I listen to at work, haha. It's great for drowning out the open office!
Dustforce and FEZ share that spot.
Going for things that haven't been mentioned yet, I really like the Mirror's Edge soundtrack. Kind of weird since I've never played it, but it was good study music for me because I can't listen to lyrics when I'm trying to focus.

Imho, this is a great great thread to start :D
Without a doubt, Final Fantasy XII. I can't imagine how many hours I've put into that OST.
Hotline Miami for that beautiful 80's synthwave. It just gets you HYPED, every time that beat hits oh my god. Feels like taking a shot of Novocaine right to the brain
Mass Effect original trilogy (sorry Andromeda).
Suicide mission, Uncharted Worlds, Vigil, The Scientists, Leaving Earth, An End Once and For All, A Future For the Krogan, and EOS COMBAT THEME!!!
Crypt of the Necrodancer and The World Ends With You are two that I haven't seen in this thread yet
For me, it would have to be Super Smash Bros. For Wii U just based on the number of tracks, but if I can't count that it'd have to be Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
All 120 of the game's songs are fantastic, and each of them conveys some level of emotion, whether it be excitement, humour, or sadness.
I get goosebumps on the soundtrack of final fantasy X. Especially "back to zanarkand". :)
Hacknet
Wonderful to code to
Yep, same here :D
You might know of these already, but if you like hacknet's soundtrack you might like the soundtracks of Shenzen I/O, Silicon Zeroes, and hackmud too.
I listen to The Witcher 3 soundtrack a lot recently.
I'd probably have to say the Super Hexagon OST. It's short, but Chipzel makes amazing music and every track has stuck with me for a long time.
The Elders Scrolls Online : Morrowind. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I love the music in this game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AktRHveHYBA
I still think Final Fantasy 7 stands up after all this time.
Starcraft (original) and Diablo (both 1 and 2). Can definitely code all day listening to those.
edit: OK, tbh code for a while then get the urge to reinstall these and play for the rest of the day.
I love the Tropico soundtracks! I could easily leave them on as background music.
When i’m in that specific mood, VA-11 HALL-A’s OST hits that perfect spot for retro style synth. My favourite track, Umemoto, never gets old.
Papers, please of course
DUHH, DUHH. DUHH, DUHH.
Mario world , it has an upbeat tone it always makes me happy.
Dark Souls 3. Epic and majestic.
I rather enjoyed Skyrim's music.
KOTOR 2
Beyond Good & Evil
Any Star Wars game, WoW, Starcraft, and Transistor
Most of my favorites have already been posted (Transistor, VVVVVV, Hotline Miami, Dustforce, NecroDancer, FTL), but a kind of different one I keep coming back to is the instrumental piano soundtrack for the puzzle game Splice.

For me, it has to be Outlaws
Not sure if this is because of the music or the nostalgia of the music but I still hum the tunes absentmindedly
I still listen to the Grim Fandango soundtrack about once a month. It's not entirely nostalgia as I do like that style of music and should probably try to find more.
Mine is fallout 3. The radio stations have great music but the background music is awesome too. It really sets the tone for the game.
Mega Man X ... so many good stage music tracks.

Cuphead! Its soundtrack is an absolutely inspired recreation of the music from the period it stylistically places itself in.
