I'm going on vacation
Hey all,
My family and I are leaving for a vacation tomorrow, and I won't be back until Jun 11th. I likely won't have very consistent internet access while gone since we're going on a cruise which only has rather expensive and slow satellite internet, so I just wanted to leave a message here on Tildes somewhere so nobody worries about my absence. :P
I removed the latest /r/tildes invite thread but will make a new one when I get back. And I also likely won't be able to post the remainder of the Taskmaster episodes as they are released, so if someone wants to take over posting those while I'm gone I would appreciate it. Thanks and see you all again in a few weeks. :)
cc: @mycketforvirrad, have fun topic tagging without me for the next little while... although I have been slacking on my tagging responsibilities the last few months anyways so you might not even notice a difference. ;)
You forced my hand into finally joining ~comp to cover for your unforgivable slacking. 😵💫
But on a serious note, to quote one of the great nineties films: "Have a great trip. Bring me back something French!".
Do these vans get good gas mileage?
Do they have four wheel drive?
Do you have any style sheet or generic advice on effective tagging or usual preferred guidelines? I think many of us want to help
In addition to the hierarchical tags as described in the Tildes docs, for my own posts, I try to ask myself: "If filtering for a topic, what would be good categories for this post to appear in so that I’d find it even if I didn’t know the title?"
And that seems to work quite well, and most of the time my own existing tags needn’t be changed, only amended with new ones I didn’t think of adding :-)
I like that you posted this in ~test probably to not attract a bunch of attention and then mycketforvirrad moved it to ~tildes. ;D
Have a nice vacation!
Hah. I was wondering why I had so many new notifications. And yeah, posting in ~test was intentional, @mycketforvirrad. I ain't mad it got moved though, since it was a nice surprise coming back to seeing everyone's comments here. :P
You're back! How was it did you have a great time? :)
Yeah, it was a really hectic and stressful vacation since we visited so many different spots (London, Barcelona, Messina/Taormina, Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rome, and Vatican City), it was during a serious heatwave (30+°C everywhere we went, even in London), and my sister arranged so many tours for us at each location. But despite being an exhausting and not really relaxing trip, I'm glad she did that since we got to see everything we all wanted to see, and who knows if/when any of us will get to visit any of those places again.
Wooo wow a total proper Eurotrip!! This was with a long cruise with many ports and excursions at each? Did she book officially with the cruise or do her own? Exhausting but yes so memorable and who knows what the world will be like or when family can get together for big trips in a few years, good job cfabsis
It was only a 9 days cruise. But we spent 3 days in London first, then flew to Barcelona and spent 3 days there too before getting on the cruise. The cruise stopped in Sicily first, then Athens, then the Greek islands before ending in Rome, where we spend another 2 days afterwards before finally heading home. And nope, she booked all our flights, accommodations, and arranged all the tours for us herself months ago. She used to be a corporate event planner/coordinator, so organizing trips like this is something she's very good at. :)
Welcome home. 🏡
Thanks. It was a fun trip, but it's definitely good to be back. :)
He's alive!! Welcome back!
Gentle reminder to fellow Tildes members that when we make new threads we can set our own tags. They may not be formatted the same or be as comprehensive but it's okay to participate
Have a good vacation and an amazing time on cruise!
Mods r away on a cruise, engage in tomfoolery
We definitely won't post anything heinous or light up some threads with controversy while you're gone. 😇
(Enjoy the trip and try not to get sick!)
I thought this said Jan 11 and had a whole double take about your six month cruise.
Have fun!
we're so fucked
I don't think I would consider posting a post like this for myself, but I do think I'd worry if you hadn't and you stopped showing up for a few weeks.
Enjoy your trip! We'll keep the seat warm for your return.
Have fun and report back when you return my brother from across the border!
