Happy 6th Birthday, Tildes!
Happy birthday, Tildes! Thanks again to @Deimos for making the best little link aggregator community on the net, and keeping it running so well. And thanks to all you lovely people for all your worthwhile contributions here too. :)
Happy birthday, website!
Thanks for all the kind words in here, everyone, and thanks for being here. I know that I'm not very visible around the site any more, but I'm still on here every single day, and glad—and proud—to see so many people continuing to hang out here. Tildes is defined by its community, so keep up the good work!
Happy birthday Tildes! I'm thankful to Deimos and the handful of people keeping this place tidy, and the amazing contributors to the content and discussions.
I've been treating Tildes as "work mode" the past several months, because of the app I'm working on, and therefore posting less than I'd normally like. This year I hope to dial back that work mode and participate more as a community member again.
As a user of RIF and now 3C, thank you!
Your work is greatly appreciated, so thank you for the sacrifice!
I've been meaning to ask you -- is there a way to donate to Three Cheers without going through the Play Store? I imagine you would prefer Google didn't take a 30% cut.
Thanks very much for asking but I don't have an alternative for now. It'd be more accounts for me to manage, and the total amounts coming in are so low that a few percentage wouldn't make a meaningful difference. Patreon looks like 8% + (3% or 5% per transaction) which is close to Google's 15% cut. GitHub I've heard has low fees, but doesn't feel like a great fit since what I'm working on is mostly closed source. PayPal I don't want to use because it reveals emails and personal details.
OK, thanks. I don't keep a credit card hooked up to my Google account to prevent impulse spending (I use Opinon Rewards money to buy what I need), but in that case, I'll pick up a gift card or something.
Moreso than anywhere else I've found, this place reminds me of the forums of my youth. All that's missing is an IRC channel ;)
what about the 5 screens of bbcode at the bottom of every page :D
Pretty new here compared to most (API Reddit moment) but it's been nice. Thanks Deimos!
Same (on all counts). Very happy that a platform like Tildes exists in this day still, no complaints!
didn't think my account would still be here years later. thanks @Deimos
I'm glad I've stuck around for so long - I stay away from most of the "social" internet these days, but Tildes has remained a valuable source of news, information, and discussion for me.
My deepest gratitude to @Deimos, @cfabbro, and all the others who've built my social home on the Internet for all these years. You've been so kind, thoughtful, diligent, and vigilant in protecting everyone here, I can't thank you enough.
Tildes has been one of a very few refuges for our better natures online, a community where there's no reward or encouragement for ill behavior as a spectator sport. It's gotten me through some of the worst times in my life, not least the pandemic lockdowns. The past 6 years have gone so quickly, but I'm not totally surprised that this site has lasted. There's a permanent need as long as generous maintainers and builders can fulfill it.
Good wishes to all here, and long may we remain!
I love y’all, and I love it here!
In the words of Daði Freyr:
Make sure everyone gets a slice of…
…cake!
I think what bothers me is that wyre was arguably the worst map. I mean, high bar there. Still good.
Lol, I actually agree, but as a name it has some panache to it that kfmountainpass doesn’t. 😂
😂When you're right you're right.
Thanks @Deimos and all the users that make Tildes what it is: a vibrant and respectful community.
Also, evidently, a Taurus 3:-)

To 6 more years -- At least!
And to many many more!
Thank you @Deimos for making and keeping this human optimized corner of an ever decaying Netscape.
and thank you to @cfabbro for the other place invite last June when it blew up (for me)
and a perpetual @mycketforvirrad for the tireless tagging that happens
And to all the regulars and to all the CD-ROMS, thank you.
I misread your comment and thought you were thanking Deimos for optimizing Tildes for use on Netscape. While that feels like it would be a very Tildes thing, I had a minute of my brain being broken trying to figure out how to download a modern Netscape Navigator.
Hey, SeaMonkey is still receiving updates. That's got IRC, email, and newsgroup reading built right in!
Also known as the undefeated paywall wrecker. It has not gone unnoticed!
Oh didn't realise this was the anniversary! It's been nice to see this site grow and come to thrive especially since last year. Like @gpl says, out of everything I use, Tildes is the most reminiscent of old forums which is just kinda cute and very neat
its amazing how much good Deimos has brought to my life via Tildes, and Automoderator. Tildes is such a beautiful space.
Happy birthday Tildes! Time really flies.
Hooray for Tildes! My new frontpage for the internet
Happy birthday Tildes, and all the tilderinos here!
I've been enjoying my stay here these last five years, looking forward to many more. The community and activity is stable and that's absolutely wonderful.
Happy birthday, Tildes. Thank you @Deimos.
It's a great place and community I'm happy to be part of.
Happy birthday Tildes, thank you for being an oasis of sanity and civility in the middle of all the internet chaos. Thank you @Deimos for keeping the place running smoothly, and thank you to everyone who contributes to Tildes!
Happy Birthday tildes. You may not believe it but I have learnt a lot from this community and found some good and niche resources. I am thankful to @Deimos each and every member here who participate and share. I love reading those long comments. tildes feels like break in present day internet culture.
