I do sometimes (to very close friends or family) announce that I pooped. The reactions are funny.

A+ tags I’m going through something similar at the moment with my little one. Stay strong and stock up on laundry detergent!

One of the most effective things I found when I was training my second kiddo was just to remove the diaper entirely and let them run around half naked. Accidents were common trying to use underwear, but not existent bareassed.

This is your unsolicited advice for the day.

Once my daughter was pooping on the toilet. She twisted around and looked in the toilet, then up at me, and said, "I've got skills."

If this is your first, I'll say that the move from diapers to no diapers was unexpectedly fraught. We went from, "ooh, stinky diaper, let's go find a place where it would be convenient to change this diaper" to "I have to go. Now!" I pretty much had to know where the closest bathroom was at all times.

We had a portable potty seat somewhat like this that was great because you could fold the arms out and put it on a public toilet seat to make it easier (and more sanitary!) to sit on, or make the tabs into legs so it stands up on its own. You put a bag in it, stand it up, and you can use it anywhere, including in the car. We did that quite a lot in those days: pull over, move the passenger seat all the way forward, and set it up in the back floorboard. Use a baby wipe to clean up, tie a knot in the bag, dispose of it at your earliest convenience. 10/10 would recommend.

When people ask me what it's like being a dad, there's a lot of great things I can talk about, but I always make sure to mention:

You as a person just don't really appreciate that you're able to eat with a spoon, until you have to teach another tiny human just how exactly to eat with a spoon.

Potty training is, in my opinion, in that exact same line of thought. Congratulations!

Let's goooooo! I'm excited for you and your son! A great development milestone, and hopefully a near end to the real stinky diapers that you get to deal with.

Grats! Soon enough you won't have to wipe their butt anymore and you'll get that piece of your soul back.

Congrats! When my oldest kid started pooping on the toilet, apropos of nothing, she started yelling "MARRR-GER-YYYYYYY, I POOO-PEH-EDDDD" at the top of her lungs when it was time to wipe her ass. Neither myself, nor my wife, are named Margery. Kids are weird.
