Hi, I am interested in creating a list of essential jazz albums for people who may be beginning to listen to the genre. My basic idea is that each person can contribute one album to the list. This has two caveats: one, you can only contribute once, and two, the album that you contribute cannot already be listed in the previous comments. If we can make this work, I will compile the results after one month based on the ranking of the albums by votes. Let's see what a bunch of ~s can do. Also, if you have suggestions for how this may be better organized, do let me know.

The Pet Shop Boys (my favourite band/artist ever) are releasing an EP this weekend. (Who even knew EPs were still a format?) It will include three satiricial songs and one sad song, which they're posting progressively on YouTube throughout the week.
I've heard the three satirical songs, and this one's my favourite. I also love the style of the video - it's a great meeting of form and function. And I thought it was appropriate for here. ;)
EDIT: Typo.

Greatness is tough enough, but consistent greatness is nigh impossible. I'm curious as to who are some musicians/bands out there that have always delivered and never stumbled, putting out great release after great release for their entire careers. It doesn't mean they've never had a bad song or a gaffe or anything like that--just that their main releases have been solid from start to finish.

In a music world where rap/hip-hop are more prevalent than ever before, what rock bands are trying their best to innovate or keep it real?
It's neat that Rap/Hip-Hop is having a renaissance of sorts. However, I don't really like any of it. In an industry that claims rock is dying (or at least has been for several years), what rock...

In an industry that claims rock is dying (or at least has been for several years), what rock bands have been killing it, spinning it in a new direction, or paying inspired and original homages to their rock forefathers?
