Before you participate, please make sure you read the rules below.

-Guidelines
Anyone can choose to be a gifter, giftee, or both! Giveaway rules are set by individual gifters, but there are handful of guidelines everyone should follow:
- No grey market keys! Only give away games from reputable sources. If you're not sure what this means, please ask.
- Requests for games should be done in this topic, but if the gift is a key, those should be delivered by PMs only. Please don't post keys publicly in this topic, even obfuscated ones.
If you're new to these, check out previous giveaway threads to see how these usually go.
Please finish submitting or modifying your participations by the end of Friday December 27 UTC, thanks! This giveaway is over; thank you for participating!
Hi everyone! Due to ongoing financial restrictions (though happily that seems likely to improve soon) I'm going to run this the same way I did last year. At the bottom you will find a list of games I enjoyed during 2024. If your account was created before December 2024 and you want to join this giveaway, please reply only once to this comment with:
At least one winning valid reply will be randomly selected. The winner will receive exactly one of the games listed in their reply. Depending on the game, you may have to temporarily add me to your steam friends or to create a GOG account.
Like last year, if more than one winner is drawn, each winner will receive a different game - there will be no repeats. As such, I encourage you to list more than one game.
Available game options
Time to draw the results! Method:
crypto.randomInt
Based on best resource allocation (costs!) the following participants won the following games:
And that's the budget! Congratulations to the winners, I'll message you later with further instructions.
As a curiosity, family was the only repeated word, although quiet/calm could be considered the same feeling, and of course cozy/coziness.
Game: The Talos Principle 2
Words: Cozy, Joyful, Success, Sweater, Bonfire
Tangent: Did you post your thoughts on Bo: PotTL? It looks like a cross between Okami and Ori, which puts it right up my alley, but it also reminds me A LOT of Nine Sols (albeit Japanese rather than Chinese), which I haven't got around to playing yet but definitely will.
Here!
Frost, snowfall, cold, comfy, joy
I'd love to get Starstruck: Hands of Time, thank you! Alternatively, Dungeons of Hinterberg.
Game requests (by preference): Dungeons of Hinterberg, Windblown
Words: Overcome jet-lag to celebrate with family and friends. Also, sweet tea!!
Thanks!
Words: Cookies, naps, cheesy movies, quiet
Games (in order of preference): American Arcadia, A Highland Song, Windblown
Thank you!
Let's try this again..
They're the games I played this year that I enjoyed enough to want to give to others, excluding games that were gifted to me in the first place! You can find my comments on them in the weekly games threads (except for Starstruck, which will come in the future; I'll explain why then).
Such a neat idea, I would do the same if I had more time to play games...I'll keep an eye out for that review!
Here!
Game: The Entropy Centre
Words: Cozy, Ethereal, Relaxing, Family, Icy
Games (in order of preference): The Talos Principle 2, Windblown, Jusant
Words: warmth, family, coziness, lights, calm
Thank you for doing this!
The Talos Principle 2, Dungeons of Hinterberg or Windblown.
Words: Cozy, wonderland, joyful, family, and bright.
choices: Dungeons of Hinterberg, American Arcadia, Starstruck: Hands of Time
nostalgia, longing, hope, disappointment, and cold
Cocoon, Snuggle, Refresh, Melancholy, Togetherness
Hi :) I would very interested in Jusant please. Very interested in chill climbing game. In second option, Tchia to play with the kids. Happy Holidays and all the best!
I have compiled a list of games I can giveaway for similar thread in the past. I have found this list by chance and I still have lots of games. If anyone finds something of interest, just write down in reply what you would like to get - first come, first serve.
This is from Humble Bundle bundles, it is activated via Steam code or by sending a gift link (and then Steam code, I think) if not mentioned otherwise.
As the list was compiled some time ago, your chosen game may not be available (maybe I was lazy and didn't delete it from list after giving it away), in that case please accept my apology. Also many of those are years old, I believe the codes could still be generated and will work, but I can't really promise that.
EDIT: I would also buy Original War game (very unusual RTS from 20+ years ago) to five people while it is in sale. Feel free to ask for it, if you are sure you want to play it. More in my other post.
It's a long long list, you have been warned

If The Secret World is available, Iād love that!
Itās kind of a unique situation, actually. The original Secret World game was delisted from Steam a long time ago and replaced with Secret World Legends, a F2P reboot of the previously paid game.
Why would I want the old version then?
Two reasons:
I enjoy collecting delisted games on Steam. (Weird, I know. š) Also, thereās a good chance the key is a Funcom one and not a Steam key, but Iād still be interested in it because:
I started playing Secret World Legends this past summer and I think I can get some account bonuses in that game if I have a copy of the original on my account.
Also, your giveaway list is UNBELIEVABLY generous. Thank you for sharing your holiday gifting spirit with us!
Stopped reading there and went to immediately send you the gift link. I will read your reasons just after I write this - I want GTA San Andreas. The OG one, not the fucked up version they call "Definitive edition". And I can easily imagine other games being fucked up in similar ways. Sorry for the swear words, but I really hate when they take down a game and put "new, better" one in its place. Not everything is perceived as being better, not by everyone. I'm one of those that would like to have the possibility to choose which version I want to buy. I would take OG Sand Andreas anytime! Now to finish reading your post...
I'm lazy person, professional procrastinator that finds his way around most of the things. Compiling this list was a task I wanted to do yet I always found some other way of spending time. But I will never activate and play the games listed here.
Tildes as a whole community of good, thoughtful and kind people and one of previous giveaways made me compile the list. I will likely post it in a giveaway here and there in the future (if I catch the giveaway in its "most alive" state) and I hope it makes someone happy to get some of the games (or more games, as people asked for two of them a few hours ago and I sent codes for both).
Don't overthink me being generous - I'm a bit selfish as I kept some of the games for myself, these are not listed here. I even activated whole lot of them when originally compiling the list - I forgot I even have them!
I would like to request "Dear Esther." I think my gaming needs more introspection
Sending PM. This one should be ok, has't revealed key, nor made giftable link so far.
Could I see if youāve still got the Stanley Parable?
Also I see youāve got quite a few hours in TF2, just wondering what your main is?
All the TF2 hours are looooooong in the past, around 10 years. What do you mean by "main"?
I have already generated gift link for Stanley Parable, which may mean it has been already gifted away. I'm sending you the link in PM for you to try. If it doesn't work, sorry for keeping your hopes up :-(
Yeah the game has already been redeemed, well thanks for the offer anyways.
By main, I mean which class you play the most/are the best at. For example, Iād say my main is scout because I consistently do better with him and play him more
My main definitely.isn't scout, soldier or spy. I suck at such classes. Either heavy, medic or engineer was my.choice most of the time. I was better as supporting role more than one that is really about skills (either ingame skills or personal skills).
Sorry about the game. I won't ever advertise it again, promise.
I don't have many keys left around to join this giveaway, but if you DM me your steam name I'll happily gift it to ya through there if that works for you.
Could I get VVVVVV and Day of the Tentacle if they're still available? Thanks
Got it!
I would love the Endless Legend - Tempest DLC if it's still available. Plus it will give me an excuse to go back and play Endless Legend. If I remember, I had stopped playing by the time the DLC came out.
PM sent. This one should be ok, as it didn't have revealed Steam code, nor gift link.
I'd be interested in TIS-100, provided the code works. I've been meaning to try some of the Zachtronics stuff.
I'm warning you - once you try Zachtronics, you can't step back! You have to buy all of his games!
Really, all of the Zachtronics puzzle/logical-type games are absolutely great!
Sending PM with gift link, just created it, it should work.
Would love to get 1001 Spikes, thank you
PM sent. This one should be ok as it wasn't revealed by me so far.
It didn't work, weirdly enough... since nobody else wants it, could I have Sega Bass Fishing then? Thank you!
Woahhhh!
I'll put my hand up for 'Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion'. I'm a big space game nut but haven't really gotten into RTS as a genre and have been meaning to. This seems up my alley with a bit of old-school flavour!
You will receive PM shortly with gift link. It should work, seems it wasn't redeemed yet.
Worked perfectly - my thanks.
Can I get 10000000 and You Must Build A Boat? Thank you :)
Sent!
Thank you :)
Hi :) Just a quick question, is Bioshock 1 the remastered version or the original? I already have the Bioshock 2 remastered edition, so if you key is for the Bioshock 1 remastered edition, I would gladly accept it. The original one I already have it, thank you and happy holidays :)
It's original. This is from bundle loooong before they even thought about remastering it :-D
I would take one of offworld trading company, cities in motion 2, railroad tycoon 3, or Warhammer 40k, if available and in that order of preference. Thanks!
Would you accept all of them?
Of course, but I didn't want to be greedy!
We say here in Czech republic "Foolish is the one who gives but even more foolish is the one who doesn't take it" - I came here to give away games, you asked for them, I give them to you. PM sent.
I'm interested in Thirty Flights of Loving! A weird little indie narrative game sounds perfect for the holidays.
PM sent. Have fun!
Wow that's a lot of games!
I'd be very interested in checking out (in order) Chroma Squad or Nuclear Throne if they are still available.
Thanks, and happy holidays!
You've got a PM.
Huh, I had no clue Galaxy on Fire was available on steam. I used to play it on my phone like 10 years ago and I always thought it was a phone-only game. Apparently, according to steam reviews, they haven't ported the DLCs to the PC version (weirdly), though, so the game isn't as long as it could be.
I presume you would like to have it?
Oh, no, not at all! Just cool to see it exists :)
Ok :-) I tried to have a look at it on my phone, but it seems it's not compatible with new Android.
I hate this kind of incompatibility!
If you change your mind and want to give it a try, let me know.
I'll join in the holiday cheer.
I really just want to promote games I think more people should know about, so I'm going to give away some stuff from my Followed list on Steam (which usually means that I own it, have played it, or think it's interesting in some way but I wouldn't have the time to play it myself). Bolded titles have my personal recommendation.
By December 31st I will give away at least 10 games, and it might turn out to be more. Method will be direct gift on Steam, meaning you'll have to temporarily add me to your friends list. Selection process will have no real rationale. It might be whatever Santa tells me, it might be what you say about why the game caught your interest, or it might just be the random number generator. Reply with up to three games of your choice and take your chances.
Support small businesses and play some indie games!
I swear I don't only look for games with pixel art.

Got it, thank you!
I keep meaning to check out CrossCode, so since you have that bolded I would love to take that. I would also love to hear why you enjoyed it and if you have any tips for getting the most out of playing it?
I see you also bolded Inside and Limbo, which are two of the best games I have ever played. Anyone reading this who hasn't played them should definitely ask you for them!
I got so much more out of CrossCode than I bargained for. I'd vaguely kept tabs on it a little before release, thinking that it seemed like a neat little idea for a game, with the virtual MMORPG premise and the throwing-ball combat. After having bought it, I left off after close to 250 hours, including the DLC chapter, and completed pretty much everything except some of the optional post-game challenges.
It's a nice blend of action/puzzle/RPG elements. Gameplay-wise, I enjoyed the puzzle dungeons more than anything else, but the combat is definitely worth a mention. You can mostly get by with button-mashing, but the skill ceiling is deceptively, ridiculously high, to the extent that I had to recontextualize the whole thing in my mind when I saw some of the late-game/post-game stuff. The biggest hook for me was the story though. Without spoiling anything, I got some pretty unexpected surprises, and the writing team absolutely nails it. Some of the best character writing I've seen in any video game.
You can absolutely tell that it was a labor of love for the team behind it. There are tons of settings you can tweak for accessibility and difficulty, so you can make it as challenging as you want or breeze through and enjoy the story. Also, there are so many accessories/armors/weapons that you can run various builds for the main character according to your play style, which is nice.
I don't really have any advice for you, apart from just go ahead and have as much fun as you can. You're in for a treat!
CrossCode is the best. I've played it for 75 hours back in the day according to GOG Galaxy. It looks good and has a pretty novel combat system and engaging puzzle solving challenges. The setting is really compelling - in a sci fi future, you play a girl trapped in an augmented reality MMORPG taking place in a real world location. So while it's a single player game, many of the characters around you are in-universe avatars controlled by player characters. For a nearly silent protagonist, Lea is ridiculously charismartic, and the cutscenes are often funny. It's a beast of a game developed - for some ungodly reason - entirely in Javascript.
I'm 40 hours into CrossCode. I agree with the above, it's excellent, memorable and it also has an amazing soundtrack. However, I do admit I'm struggling with the ever-more complex puzzles. It puts a lot of my puzzle gaming experience to shame!
Second set of winners picked: @Eidolon, @RheingoldRiver, and @fefellama!
Redeemed. Thank you so much!
I would very much like to try The Witness if possible!
The Witness is awesome! Great pick!
Gorogoa - because I've never seen a game like this ever...it looks super unique in terms of the design of the puzzle mechanic and visual theme generally. I like the idea of exploring worlds within worlds through the frames and traveling through juxtaposed scenes which themselves blend realism with fantasy. The attention to detail and mystic ornamentation is also pretty impressive.
Alternative choices:
Thank you for the generous giveaway, delighted to participate!
Hi, I would gladly accept the Witness, if available. :) I loved Braid which was also designed by Jonathan Blow but never tried a Myst-like game where you need to use solve enviromental puzzles, so really curious about this one. Happy Holidays and all the best!
Edit: Just noticed another one which has been in my radar for a while. If possible, I wouldn't mind 12 minutes too, specially because it was designed by a fellow countrymen (which is super rare for my country). :) Thx!
Just keep in mind The Witness isn't entirely myst-like. It's built around a specific "2D" type of puzzle game, which you will - in the course of playing the game, if you persevere- become really good at. Exploration and outside the box thinking still play a major part and you will benefit from approaching the game with curiosity and an open mind, but if you are more of a fan of lore, world building and contraptions that appear to serve realistic purposes, Outer Wilds is a much better myst successor (and I say this as a huge fan and completionist of The Witness!)
Interesting, thanks for the recommendation. I'll keep an eye for Outer Wilds. At first it didn't feel interesting because usually I'm not a fan of loop mechanisms. :)
Maybe Quern then? It's a more thematically similar Mystlike.
Great giveaway! I'm counting 22 games I've played and several more I've watched streamed or am otherwise aware of. You've bolded several of my favorites but there are also some great non-bold titles so I recommend everyone pay careful attention!
I've never actually owned or personally played Sayonara Wild Hearts (I've seen videos), so I'd take a copy of that if available. Don't prioritize me over RheingoldRiver though! I do have a bit of a backlog for the winter right now. Lowest priority! Thank you and merry christmas.
This is an awesome list! I'm interested in
Linelight
- it's the exact sort of thing I'll enjoy.Thank you!
hmmm awful lot of pixel art in that list....
I'd love to try (in order) 80 Days, Linelight, or Pipe Push Paradise if they are available. You can tell I'm a fan of puzzle/strategy games, lol. The first one is because I love the book, and the other two are because I love puzzle games like hexcells and the bridge constructor games that just let you relax and play as little or as much as you'd like at once.
I am a bit interested in Sayonara Wild Hearts, because the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. That said, I don't play video games that much so please prioritize someone else if they want it! I would probably log about 10 minutes of playtime, that's about the median of how long games hold my interest these days (I am always impatient to go read a fantasy novel instead)
Enter the gungeon. I've wanted to get back into some bullet hell type games.
Hello there, I always wanted to try this game and your list made me think about it again! I really like rogue-like games and I remember watching a few videos about that game back in ~2017.
Since is it one of your personal recommendation, this is the game I'd like if I win. Thanks and Happy Holidays :)
Sayonara Wild Hearts: this game has been hyped up to unbelievably high levels, meaning if I wait any longer I'll end up getting disappointed.
Wavetale: A very poor standard I have for judging the quality of a game is if the title has "story" or "tale" in it. So far, this metric has not served me wrong.
or Journey: "Don't Stop Believin'", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'"... ah man, I want this game for its slappin' soundtrack alone.
š I've just released the holiday update for my tiny cozy virtual pet sim, Pocket Kitten. If playing with pixel kittens and decorating the space sound like your idea of fun, I'm happy to gift you (first person to comment reply) the game. After commenting just send me a PM!
Note: The game has a free demo online. I would be gifting you the full version which is a downloadable program for your desktop (Mac, Windows, or Linux). I have only tested the game myself on my own desktop, Mac OS 12.7.
Friends! Tildes is one of my favorite cozy websites and I'm happy to try and give back. I've got a healthy collection of Steam keys (from Humble) that could use a good home. Everything here is something I've enjoyed or had recommended to me.
All I ask is that you play them over the holiday and tell me what you think of the game (either here or in the weekly "What are you playing" thread). Don't just add it to your backlog, never to be seen again. š
Giveaway is first-come, first-serve and one per person. I'll edit as things are claimed.

I have always wanted to try out the Steamworld games so I would love to give Steamworld Dig a try. I'm actually off the next three days, so if you give it to me and I will definitely play it and try to report back before Christmas. Cheers!
Sent! It's one of my favorites. Simple and sweet.
I'd love to try Inmost, it looks so pretty!
sent!
So, I played Inmost last night! And as promised, here are my thoughts:
I asked for it because it was on my wishlist, but I didn't remember the details off the top of my head. So the moody atmosphere took me a bit by surprise. Not a bad surprise, but not a game I'd think to play in the Christmas season. That said, I only have good things to say about it.
The graphics are gorgeous, genuinely some of the most beautiful I've seen in a while. I love the blend of pixel art with more modern/advanced special effects and lighting. The opening scene just had so much effort into it, it had me hooked from the start. I could tell this was a game with a lot of passion put into it just from that scene.
The story meanwhile was as solemn as I expected from the opening, and also less horror-esque. I figured out a lot of it was symbolism for something pretty fast, though I didn't get the full details until the finale. It's a very bittersweet story about loss and moving on, and the end ties it up very nicely. There's apparently an extra scene if you collect all the pain crystals, but I think I'll look it up in YouTube. I got enough to get all the tales from the storyteller, and I'm satisfied with that.
...also I'm half-convinced that rabbit doll is possessed. Some of those lines did not sound like a little girl's imagination.
Thanks for the game! It was fun!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed and thank you for your write up!
Hi :) I would gladly accept Pikuniku. Please and thank you. Happy Holidays and all the best!
You got it, enjoy!
Welp, I've heard so much good stuff about Slay the Spire that I might as well seize the opportunity. I like card games a lot, so this should be something fun to obsess over the holidays.
Sent! It's one of my favorites, enjoy it.
I will definitely not get around to playing it during the holidays, but I have a long proven record of eventually playing everything and providing feedback here on tildes (you can check my comment history!) If that's OK with you, then the one game in that list I don't yet have is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. I heard good things! Thanks. (If you'd rather keep it for someone else who'll play it sooner, that's also fine, don't worry.)
No problem, I believe you! Sent :)
Superhot.
Back when everyone was using it as b-roll in YT vids it always seemed like a cool game to play.
Iāll try my best not to make it backlog fodder lol.
No FFXIV sub to worry about and not sure what I want to play anyway.
Sent! it's a fun one (and plays pretty fast)
SOMA looks spooky and engaging, definitely interested in playing it
You got it! It's weird and fun. FYI you can also turn off damage if you want more of a narrative experience (rather than a survival one).
redeemed, thank you kindly
Papers Please looks really interesting! If it's still available I'd love to give it a go!
All yours! It's definitely not a traditional game, but it's also super fun and interesting
Awesome! I love the aesthetic and concept! Very excited to try it out!
Hype-train for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 giveaway! Includes the original Kingdom Come Deliverance (2018) and all the DLCs. Medium: Your choice of: GOG gift, Steam gift, Steam wallet $ (if there is a region lock), or non-PC on request.
Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition
I'm super excited for KCD 2 and finally finshed KCD1 a few months ago including all the DLCs. This game has seen plenty of discussion on Tildes if you're looking for detailed reviews. Although, take note: it is quite a long game, expect at least 80-100 hours at completionist levels...
Rules: Tell me something that interests you about the medieval period. Edit: Doesn't have to be in Europe! Anything in the 5th-15th century.
Method: I will roll 6x 6-sided dice for every entrant. The rolls will determine how many points you get. Whoever has the most points wins. If there is a tie, I will re-roll another round. P.S. - This is inspired by a mini-game in KCD!
EDIT: Please submit entries before the end of Friday 27 Dec UTC!
EDIT: Round 1 draw
ecchi = 6+3+2+1+4+2 = 18
pekt = 4+6+4+1+1+5 = 21
The winner is @pekt, congratulations!
Hi, I was looking at this game for a few years, but always hesitated to buy because Iāve heard it wastes a lot of time on mundane life things. It took me three attempts to get into rdr2 and finally complete it, and I wish Iāve done this sooner. Just want more games with mature storylines. I wonder if kingdom come is also rewarding if you persist.
To tell you the truth I am not very interested in medieval history, but I would gladly participate in a medieval style feast and get stuffed in the local food and drinks.
I think from an RPG perspective it would still appeal - though I haven't played RDR2. The story isn't overcooked, it has its drama but it's not too self-serious and the character development is great.
Also the mundane things you're referring to are probably the survival elements of the game - you have to eat and sleep. Initially these have a more significant impact but become trivial once you have perks and it's not high maintenance at that point. Although that said, crafting (herb picking and potion-making) is quite tedious and keeping your gear repaired can also be a pain. Not to mention, requiring an in-game item to save. But you can easily mod and remove these constraints!
Also, I'm with you on the feasts. I LOVE medieval music and feast/party music is so good, especially the drums.
I can definitely see the similarities between KCD and RDR2. Slow and methodical at times, but worth sticking around for. But the whole game is set in medieval Bohemia, so if that setting doesn't appeal to you I'm not sure it'll be as easy to overcome as RDR2. I highly encourage you to give it a shot though!
I've always been interested in this game, but my gaming budget was dropped off after I had kids. Tons of games on my wishlist, and the idea that I may get to them one day appeals to me. Also, thanks for being generous enough to offer to gift a game!
My fun fact is that the Mongol's once demanded 3,000 hats as part of an annual tribute from a Kingdom in Anatolia. These hats were also so popular after crusaders brought them back that there was an attempt to ban them in Europe, I heard about this on the History of Byzantium podcast, and he mentioned it again that a listener had followed up on this during one of his recent Q&A episodes. This article is fascinating and well worth your time! https://teamtrash.substack.com/p/the-hat-that-purchased-a-kingdom
I'd highly recommend the podcast as well, I knew nothing about the late Roman Empire, beyond that it existed, and I played a campaign as them in Medieval 2 Total War when I was younger. It's given me a new appreciation for that period of history and that region of the world.
Cool fact, thanks for sharing! That whole time period in 'Western' history is super overlooked in general. There's tons of media depictions of Roman life back around the early empire days, and then it sort of just jumps forward to the age of exploration and the renaissance in the 1300s/1400s/1500s and beyond. The only things usually depicted from that 1000-year gap between those two periods is usually medieval Western Europe. It just sort of jumps from Roman emperors, to medieval Kings and peasants, to pirates and colonial empires. Not a ton of details in between.
Wow I am a hat fanatic but haven't done my homework as far as the history...this is fascinating, thank you! And I will add this to my podcast list too.
And don't worry - it took me around 3 years to complete this game on and off. My combat skills suffered for it but it's otherwise perfectly fine to be as casual as you like. It's totally binge-worthy in short stints though, fair warning!
Fashion history is not something I really considered, but this has gotten me interested in learning more about it!
There are some days when I debate just reading history books because there is so much to learn. The only problem is spaceships, wizards, dragons, and other fantastical things are so interesting!
Fashion history is one of those keystone topics that will teach you a ton about a lot of other things that were going on at the time. For all that we think of fashion as a shallow topic, it speaks to the peoples' technological development, material science, and interactions with other cultures.
I'll turn this comment into a giveaway of my own!
Neverwinter Nights 1 Complete Edition (Steam key, PC) RPG, Real-time with turn-based combat, DnD 3rd edition ruleset
Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition
Complete Edition with DLCs
DLCs consist of: Darkness Over Daggerford, Dark Dreams of Furiae, Tyrants of the Moonsea, Infinite Dungeons, Pirates of the Sword Coast, Wyvern Crown of Cormyr. Some are not strictly 'dlcs' but are premium community created modules that have been expanded somewhat.
Rules: Enter by telling me your most memorable campaign or particular event that happened in a campaign in a Dungeons & Dragons style tabletop or game. You can interpret this liberally and it does not have to be inside the DnD universe. It can be in as few or many words as you like.
Winner: Determined by random draw. I will roll a d X = number of players, assigning numbers per time of post entry. The roll determines the winner.
During the Backlog burner event I had this game on my bingo card, and I'm continuing to enjoy the nostalgia. I ended up getting the whole Humblebundle Beamdog pack so ended up with a spare copy!
EDIT: Please submit entries before the end of Friday 27 Dec UTC!
So I used to go over to my buddies house to play D&D in his basement. Super original, I know. I don't remember exactly how it came about, but I made a mage and named him "Wishal" with the goal of gaining the spell Wish which also ages you when you use it. During the campaign I got an item that allowed me to cast wish before I was high enough level. I'm pretty sure I wished for enough experience to get to the right level to learn wish and our DM allowed it. Then basically the rest of our campaign was me abusing Wish to do crazy things until I eventually died of old age. Thanks for this prompt, I had completely forgotten about that campaign until now. That was like 26 years ago or so.
I hadn't considered how that spell could have such an impact and now I'm curious to roll a caster and try it myself someday. Thanks for entering!
Yeah I'm sure we bent or broke rules doing it but it was also silly fun.
Well, that was easy I didn't even have to roll! Congratulations @Wafik, PM'ed you.
I honestly assumed there would be more people here with great memories to share. Thanks again for making me think back to pleasant memories and thank you for the game!
I found more games! Here are the rules:
No worries if you haven't participated in the weekly thread before! I'm not trying to gatekeep access but gently encourage some participation. If you haven't yet participated in the weekly thread, first stake your claim to a key, then go write something in the weekly thread. Once you've done that, ping me and I'll send you your key.
Anyway, here's what I have to offer:
Tower of GunsFTL: Faster than LightFTL please!
I don't know how to share a link to my comment but here is an Against the Storm recommendation that I gave after I read about it on Tildes.
https://tildes.net/~games/18kc/what_games_have_you_been_playing_and_whats_your_opinion_on_them#comment-9u58
You did it right! Key sent, enjoy!
Thank you!
I'd love Tower of Guns if available.
Here's a link to my recent discussion on Victoria 3 (great game, highly recommend!). I love that thread. And the game deals thread. And the hidden gems thread. And this giveaway thread. Tildes has ones of the best and most-wholesome gaming communities I've ever been a part of. So thanks for participating and making it awesome!
Thanks for participating, too! Key sent -- have fun!
I'm not able to do anything too big this year, but I do want to give something away, so I'm willing to give away a copy of Balatro.
Tell me about a game (video or not) or toy that you massively enjoyed as a kid. Would you gift it to a kid nowadays?
I'll select a random winner via Random.org, on Christmas' Eve. Good luck!
I really enjoyed that toy that's filled with water, and you play it by pushing a button that pushes water in a direction to make things happen, like fish icons move or balls into a basket, that kind of thing. I don't know the name. There were several of these.
It was neat and fascinating for me, and I would recommend it to a kid nowadays. But probably to someone who is younger.
Oh, so many memories, I used to be so frustrated when the last hoop wouldn't go into the plastic spike where you were supposed to stack them, but when I finally managed it I was over the moon.
I haven't seen one in ages, I wonder if they're still around. They should be, right? Right???
Wow, I wonder if they even make those anymore? It's so interesting to hear that would be the toy that sticks out in someone's memory. Nowadays a child might spend about 5 minutes with that... they'd probably prefer it as an app :(
I've heard nothing but effusive praise for this game, so I figure I should give it a try eventually!
One of my favorite childhood games was Super Mario Galaxy. I still don't think Nintendo has surpassed it since (maybe in pure gameplay - but not in style or heart), so I would definitely still choose to gift it to a kid today.
Galaxy was amazing for sure! However, Wonder is very close in quality and whimsy, I loved it a lot.
I'll join this giveaway, I don't have Balatro so I'd like to see what all the fuss is about.
The answer to your question that feels most right is The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past. I'm afraid this might not be a very interesting answer; of course I'd gift it to a kid, as this is still considered by many to be one of the best videogames ever made; it aged really well!
A lot of the Zelda games are pretty timeless - technical limitations aside, they're still as enjoyable to play today as they were at release. Wish it was easier to play them nowadays (I dislike Nintendo's Switch Online and would rather deal with emulators instead).
I too am also curious about this game! Thanks for the giveaway :)
Supertux
My father's a mega Linux nerd so I grew up with a shared PC that was essentially a testing instance. We'd probably get at least 7 new distros a year - clean slate, no notice that everything was being wiped. For a long time, Windows was a peripheral thing and consoles were permanently banned.
Each time we had a new distro, we'd be eager to see what games it came bundled with (if any). Supertux was one of the more reliable offerings. It's essentially a Mario-style platformer where you play as Tux penguin, the Linux mascot. As you'd expect, the game gets progressively more difficult.
I was never very good at the game, but I did enjoy it a lot, especially making it to the forest biome after so much persistence. Perhaps the reason I don't play a lot of platformers these days is simply because of the experience of having my progress reset over and over again.... But now I've just discovered that it's free and early access on Steam (with the prospect of a cloud save!) I will have to check it out again this holidays!
That's so cool, I had no idea they released it on Steam!
Congrats! You're the winner - I'll reach out via PM shortly.
Ooh I've heard pretty universal praise for Balatro, so I'm interested.
As far as a game I played when I was a kid that I would still gift today, I would have to say Kingdom Hearts. I think the original has so much charm and creativity that you don't find in games nowadays, certainly not in the most recent KH3. The gameplay has also aged incredibly well imo!
Last year, I pondered and felt awe at the generosity of Tildes members for giving away so many games so easily.
This year, I discovered Fanatical has bundles, and also that I'm a sucker for those mystery key bundles that get offered when you checkout. And furthermore, got reminded that I am very fickle about my gaming tastes. So, I have a bunch of keys up for grabs!
What I request: either A) share a quick little "reindeer game" you can play at parties, B) make up some zany new tradition on the spot, or C) just share a zany/fun/silly holiday memory. Mainly because my aunt asked me to come up with a reindeer game for our Christmas Eve party and I need ideas, but asking for just reindeer games feels a bit unfair. I'll give them out on Friday, December 27. If multiple people want the same game, I'll use good ol' random.org to decide on the winner! Feel free to request multiple games, too!
Aeon Drive
Autonauts
Conarium
DOOM II (Needs no introduction, which is good because I canāt find a solo listing for it on Steam to link??)
Dread X Collection
The Final Station
Forests, Fields and FortressesGodās Trigger
Internet Cafe Simulator
The Last Federation
Light Fairytale Episode 1
Monstersā Den: Godfall
Not Tonight 2Oxenfree(Note: I love this game, played it on the Switch and recently beat the sequel)PAGO FOREST: DRAGONāS REVENGE
PAGO FOREST: TOWER DEFENSE(Fun fact: I got these two games from separate mystery key bundles! Also they seem to be totally different in terms of gameplay despite being from the same series)The Ramp
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the ShogunSonic and SEGA All Stars Racing
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2
Strikey SistersSunblaze
Torment: Tides of NumeneraWasteland 2: Directorās CutDOOM and DOOM II got consolidated into one listing when they updated the games to add a bunch of modern QoL features.
The key should still work, itāll just activate the combined listing of both games now (so whoever takes it gets a bonus game!).
Iām a sucker for a mystery bundle too. I either get some neat games for myself or I get some ones to give away! Thatās hard for me to resist.
Also, Iām not going for a giveaway with this (I have too many games already, in part because of those mystery bundles!), but I figured I would share a game my husband and I are doing with our family in case you want to steal the idea:
We came up with some Christmas-themed Um, Actually prompts. Weāre going to host the game with my family, with them buzzing in on their phones.
Sorry this is a day later than planned, got busier than expected with Christmas and its immediate aftermath. It also occurred to me that I never specified a limit on games. So, since no one wanted the same game, I sent all the requested keys! @alcappuccino, @BailerAppleby, @Eidolon and @fefellama, congrats on getting the keys and thanks for sharing reindeer games, stories and made-up traditions! Hope you guys like the games!
That said: I'll leave the giveaway open for another few days. No need to give a story or reindeer game this time. First come, first served, one game per person. Unless someone wants Sonic 4, since it'd be weird to just get one episode.
(Also, if anyone's curious, we ended up not playing any reindeer games at our Christmas Eve party. Honestly I had a feeling that would happen, most of the time was spent talking and catching up. Was still fun to hear your ideas though! I'll keep those in mind for future parties.)
Hi :) I would gladly accept Oxenfree. It's been on my radar for such a long time, but never clicked on buy.
And to others, please for the love of god, someone take Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, it is such a great game. If you played Commandos game like I did when I was a kid, you will love this game. Sadly the company Mimimi closed down recently :(
Any ways, happy holidays and all the best!
@CannibalisticApple: To add a game (I don't know what a reindeer game is, sorry if it's not what you wanted) to @alcappuccino's comment:
There is an Aromanian custom in north Greece where the oldest person in the family ties a boiled, peeled egg to the end of a string and tells everyone else in the family to:
The oldest person in the family will basically move the egg-on-a-string like a pendulum, between everyone
Ugly Christmas sweaters have become so trendy that they're sold at Walmart. I know because I bought mine from there. For a new holiday tradition, true Yuletide bon vivants need to up their game and go old school by dressing in robes a la the nativity scene. I mean, at this point, why not and, if not for someplace to put your keys and phone, it makes for comfortable attire for tolerating the in-laws.
Requested games: Not Tonight 2 (sign-of-the-times pick), Strikey Sisters (aliteration pick), or Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (if just to satisfy @alcappuccino, so please make this the top pick)
My reindeer game is one we play with family and friends every year but we don't even have a name for it! It's loads of fun and easy !
The rules:

Bonus
Additional game that's more tricky that we call 'the hat game'. You need: paper, pens, egg timer or phone with timer app.

Game picks:
Torment: Tides of Numenera: I picked up Planescape: Torment recently. For some reason I never played any of the isometric CRPG classics as a kid. After really enjoying Disco Elysium, the Pillars of Eternity series and Tyranny, I'm intending to work my way through the classic RPGs when my time starts to free up a bit more next year (and document my adventures on Tildes!).
Alternative: Wasteland 2: Director's Cut. For the same reasons as above - family resemblence here with creative input from folks who worked on Planescape and Tides of Numenera!
I'd love to try Forests, Fields, and Fortresses if it's available. If not, then maybe the PAGO FOREST tower defense game.
To be honest I had never heard of a reindeer game before your post, so all I can offer is a funny xmas story from when I was a kid: a long time ago when I was maybe 3 or 4 my family went to Chile on vacation around holiday season. While there they took me to see Santa at a mall and helped me write him a letter of what I wanted. So for my entire childhood I thought Santa lived in Chile. It gets funnier though. What I asked for in my letter was for a little foosball table, since I loved soccer. However, in my native tongue (Portuguese), the word for foosball table also happens to be the stereoptypical name for a dog (think Fido or Spot). So after the vacation, my parents asked me if I was sure Santa would bring me a foosball table, or if he might think I meant a dog. I'm willing to bet I was the only kid who was absolutely relieved to NOT receive a puppy on Christmas morning, lol.
I have only one humble offering, but it's a solid one for fans of Atlus and Dynasty Warriors:
Persona 5 StrikersHi Psy,
I'd love Persona 5 Strikers if you still have it. Thanks so much for doing this everyone!
Key sent. Enjoy!
Just a heads' up: because of my holiday schedule this year, I actually won't be able to run my usual big giveaway comment for at least another week. I didn't want to delay the whole topic on account of me, however, so I'm still opening it up today.
Please mark this as noise so that it doesn't get in the way of the giveaways!
Replying again here as a meta comment to say that I am stunned by the generosity on offer in this topic.
When I first posted the topic, it stayed silent for a bit, so I was a little worried it might just blow over until I got back home and put my giveaway up later this week.
Iāve never been so happy to be wrong! Iām floored with how many people have chosen to give away games, as well as the number and spread of games on offer.
Happy holidays to everyone gleefully giving away games as well as those happily getting them!
I decided that I'm actually not going to add a giveaway to the topic this time around -- probably my first time sitting it out since I started it, I think?
I promise I'm not being a Scrooge. Instead I feel like so many other people did awesome giveaways and they deserve the spotlight. Additionally, there are still plenty of games on offer that no one has claimed (has no one learned from @Pavouk106's wisdom?), so I don't feel like I need to add more to that.
This time around I deleted games that I gave away, updating my list on the fly. This means I can keep the list for future giveaways! Expect to see that behemoth again!
Actually many people listened to my (or rather Czech) wisdom as I alone gave away many games! I'm glad I could have given them away as I know I will never play any from the list and there may be people who would like to try but don't want to risk money or they simply can't buy the game because it is not listed anymore (I hate when this happens!).
Thanks for the chance to be part of this!
Happy holidays friend! Appreciate this theead, I also don't have my Humble account handy until after new year so I'm in the same boat but appreciate the thread as always, if I remember I'll try and post after I get back too.
No worries, and happy holidays to you too! Weāll just be keeping the holiday cheer going a little later than normal with our late giveaways. Nothing wrong with that ā new year; new games!
