What are your hobbies?
I recently took up gardening. It's a lot more complicated and requires a lot more planning than I initially expected. So far I've found it to be rather meditative, sitting and pulling up weeds, watering and such. I'm still not sure whether it's a thing I am "good" at but it's exciting to see something you've planned and nurtured grow! Tell me what you all do for fun/relaxation or to challenge yourself outside of your work.
Sleeping.
I love sleeping. I wanna try out new pillows and blankets and mattresses and sheets and beds and comforters all the time.
But since I’m not worth a fortune I simply make sure to enjoy what I have when I can. 🤔
Parent of a young child, my hobby is daydreaming about sleeping.
Parent of 2 young children... I think I remember what sleep is?
The worst thing is when i travel for work, and could get a chance to sleep more....i still wake up at 5:15...
My current hobbies that I actively engage in are basically just watching shows and playing games, as well as occasionally discussing programming-related problems.
Things I want to do when I'm more financially capable would be hiking, camping, and probably some minor woodworking (e.g. I've always wanted to start building a little Christmas village from scratch, adding another building every year).
What financially is preventing you from hiking?
If gas is an issue, even just finding a nice park locally to walk around in can be very enjoyable.
I don't own a car and I don't have the money to afford one right now :)
Hiking, camping, and backpacking are some of my favorite activities; I find them to be extraordinarily relaxing and rewarding.
I hope that someday soon you are able to hike and camp to your heart's content.
That day will come for sure. I just have some work to do to get there!
I work on my car, it's been real rewarding.
Yeah cars for me too. As frustrating as it can be, I find the reward at the end to be so big and satisfying that it more than makes up for spending 3 hours trying to find my 10mm.
My current hobby is mechanical keyboards. I have built a compact GH60 keyboard with lubed cherry mx greens, Heavy, smooth and delicioucly clicky.
I find this really interesting. I haven't heard of people building keyboards before, but spent a bit of time looking it up. What got you involved in building keyboards?
Not op, but I got into keyboards 'cause I liked the sound of them. Then I tried typing on one, loved it and bought it. Now I'm building a 40% ortholinear keyboard. It's a slippy slope to an empty wallet
Also not OP but...
Got into it initially because I wanted a mechanical keyboard for gaming, ended up getting a POK3R when it came out due to broad community love for it's predecessors. Really enjoyed the community support of custom projects and the typing experience. Currently typing this up on a Ergodox that is my main 80% of the time keyboard.
I just really wanted to make the perfect keyboard for bringing with me, couldn't find the one with the right settings for me. I wanted full control over the layout and none of the available assembled keyboards had that possibility.
If you have any other questions I am glad to help!
I think it's high time for ~tech.keebs :D
I just got my first one! A Rosewill with Cherry Browns. I'm not planning on going deep into it as a hobby, but I quite like having it. I would call computer gaming a hobby and this an offshoot of that.
How do you like the MX browns?
I feel they are a little too smooth to feel tactile and too tactile to feel smooth. They fall into a weird uncanny middle ground for me.
I don't have experience with different mechanical switches to compare to, but I do like them. I know what you mean about being sort of in between though - one of the reasons I got them was they were supposed to feel more tactile which is what I wanted, and it's not very pronounced. I like the volume on them as I'm not interested in very clicky keys. Overall I find the weight for pressing and responsiveness when I'm releasing to be very satisfying. I'd like to try some other keyboards before I pass judgement like that though!
I didn't mean to sound condescending, the MX brown just isn't the right switch for me. If you want to try a switch with more tactility but still without click I would highly recommend trying to get your hands on some MX clears.
They are kind of rare but oh so satisfying to type on!
Oh you weren't condescending at all! No worries :) I'll see if I can ever get my hands on some clears, thank you!
Amateur Radio! I got my license late last year, and just bought my first handheld radio (only used the local club station before). It's a very interesting hobby for sure, in all aspects - digital modes, analog devices (amplifiers, modulation, antennas etc), how radio calls are made...
I definitely still have a lot to learn as well, especially about how digital modes work (only used my DMR as an analog device for now).
I was excited last year when I first read about RTL-SDR (see https://www.rtl-sdr.com/) and bought a cheap RTL-SDR USB dongle...but it turned out to be a little more complicated than I expected and life has been too busy to invest the required time in it. But I mention it because if you're interested in amateur radio and haven't heard of RTL-SDR, you may want to check it out.
Actually, I have one lying around - totally forgot about that. Honestly setup was extremely easy for me, just install gqrx and you can start receiving FM, AM, and SSB - packet radio and DMR might be a little more difficult, but probably not that hard either.
Yeah, I got it working without too much trouble, but felt like I hit a bit of a wall when it came to selecting a specific application (aircraft, marine, satellite, etc.) to work on...like each seemed to require a different antenna. It was either going to be costly to buy antennas, or I was going to have to learn a lot about building them myself and I just don't have any background in that.
Oh yeah, antennas can get expensive if you want to do many different things. At least RLT-SDRs only really work with VHF/UHF anyway, so giant HF antennas won't be necessary.
I study Japanese in my free time. It's a really interesting language, and I have so much fun wrapping my head around the various nuances that are completely dissimilar to English due to cultural differences. I think learning another language has made me significantly more articulate in English as well, since the second language sort of exposes the ambiguities of the first. Also hope we have a language-learning subgroup soon (I spent years on /r/learnjapanese and learned a ton).
Oh hey a fellow Japanese learner! I think having a language learning group on here would be perfect. I spend a lot of time lurking on /r/LearnJapanese.
Agreed, though I'm definitely more of a lurker than an actual learner so far.
I enjoy burrowing into other people's niches and learning a lot about them. Usually I get bored and shuffle off to something else.
I've been exploring Outrun recently, which is cool to see people celebrate something from the 80s (when I was young everyone was working hard to distance themselves). An example of something that stuck with me is the Knights of the Dinner table which is a blank and white comic that has been around forever. It's just a bunch of people sitting around and playing role-playing games with no visualization of what's going on in the game, just the dialogue. It's hilarious and the characters have years of history behind them. It's like a comic version of CriticalHit or one of those other podcasts.
3D Printing - I have a Creality CR-10 S. I'm pretty happy with it, though I've found that I spend a lot of my time just futzing around making the printer better without actually printing things.
Video Games - Overwatch is my go-to game right now. I realize it's 2 years old, but it meets all my current gaming desires. I also play some other Blizzard games (WoW, HotS), and like many I have a pretty hefty steam collection (which I don't play all that often).
Ultimate - I'm trying to be healthier, and part of that is exercise. My main exercise is through Ultimate. I play in a very low-key league, but it's a lot of fun.
Other Games - I like board games a lot. I'm also part of a small DnD group.
Reading - I read a lot in the fantasy / horror / sci-fi genres. I'm currently starting the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.
If you like sci-fi and fantasy, you should try the Mortal Engines series (if you haven't already). It's one of my favourites. I think there's a film coming out later this year.
I have not yet read it, but I'm putting it on my list! Thanks for the suggestion.
The Hyperion Cantos are my go-to recommendation back!
I think things aren't special anymore. We have instant access to movies and music today thanks to the interment. It's a great thing but I think it has spoiled us in a way. I just bought a record player because I want to really listen to music by making it special again. Special in a way where you spend money on a record, which gives it some inherent value to you. It almost makes you obligated in a way to put in the time to listen to an album from beginning to end. I know it sounds a little hipsterish but I'm really excited.
I love the journey of a full album, especially when its not just a bunch of songs all thrown on in any sort of order.
Hipster and pretentious are two words that seem to be used to describe people who have a genuine interest. If they're used to describe you remember it :)
My son calls me hipster all the time. I'm pretty sure that means it's not cool anymore (if it ever really was).
I am fixing bikes for people who want or might want them. There are always friends around asking if I have a new fixed one. Not that crazy maybe a bike or two a month taking my time to gather pieces to make an old bike functional again. Sometimes people even donate me their old bikes. I guess nothing is more beautiful in life than making others happy.
Best hobby yet!
To take something that is literally considered trash. Appreciate the way it works and the makers who created it, and turn it something that truly helps people. Hats off to you.
Thank you!
Gymnastics, capoeira, parkour, weightlifting, crossfit, pole dancing, circus shit— if you had told me a few years ago that I would spend most of my free time exercising for fun, I would have told you to fuck right off, but here we are!
I'm into exercising too! I usually do a mix of bodyweight stuff (mostly following Overcoming Gravity), weightlifting, yoga and running! I never went to a gym, only yoga studios. I've built a little homemade gym in my basement with a structure to rest the barbell for squats and a pull-up bar, all made of iron, welded with my crafty uncle
For some reason it's one of the few things I can be really consistent on. If I don't move I feel rusty and full of little aches I believe physical activity is one of those things that if you aren't doing you don't realise you need
Oh man, I want a home gym! I live in a third floor apartment right now so not practical, but... some day!
Everyone should discover the liberating pleasure of squatting in their underwear
Right now I do a lot of video gaming, throwing a livestream or two in there every week. Other than that, I just began DMing for a DnD group for the 1st time and my wife and I love going hiking.
How do you like DMing so far? I find myself getting an itch to run a campaign every so often, but when I've tried to do it, I end up feeling like I don't have time to prepare for sessions.
not the guy above, although I am a novice DM and it's way more work than being a player-character but I find it infinitely more rewarding. Watching PCs struggle with puzzles is super satisfying, and it's also fun being equally surprised by their naive ingenue or their clever ways out of traps.
Yeah, the little DMing I have done has made me feel that way, which is a big part of why I keep on getting that itch. Maybe I'll have to try to go the premade adventure route like @DaleMorgan is doing.
I've been going through the Storm King adventure to make it easier on mysekf and it's helped a lot! I'm loving it so far
That's awesome! How often do your players do something that the adventure doesn't account for, and what do you do when it does happen?
Most of them are new players so they have been sticking to the plan for the most part.
However, they took a goblin captive to get information and then grew to love the goblin like a friend so now I have another character to manage in the party lmao.
Haha, that's great. And it gives you a beloved NPC to kill off dramatically later to really motivate them to go after a villain.
I have also recently started a garden! Mine wasn't very involved but it's showing. Of the multiple sunflowers I planted, only one hasn't gotten eaten alive by bugs.
Otherwise I've always played a lot of music within the local scene (sans a few years I was away at school.) It used to be a lot of fun, and still is for the most part, but some people take it way too seriously. I don't think I would ever stop playing music but getting so involved in the local stuff can get tiring after a while.
I really want to get back into game dev, but after coding all day for work, the last thing I want to do is do more.
That's why I said gardening was more complicated than I expected. I bought certain herbs to keep bugs off of one type of plant or another, planted plants that repel each others usual pests together, and made sure to plant things that don't get along on opposite sides of the garden (e.g. cantaloupe opposite squash). And I still managed to plant the whole bed the opposite of how it should be. I'll be lucky if the plants on the other side of the bed from the tomatoes get enough sun once they get bigger! D'oh!
Sorry for geeking out, there
That's harsh! Do you have a paper layout of how you set it up? You might be able to make modifications still, depending on what's where. Companion planting can be great, but a lot of it is overblown, too.
I'm pretty big into board games and playing DnD. I also have been doing a lot of escape rooms lately (I've done about 70 or 80 in the last couple of years). I used to play the trumpet, and I've been thinking about picking that back up.
I love sports. Playing them, watching them, talking about them. NBA especially. My enjoyment of the NFL, once my favorite way to spend a Sunday, has waned in recent seasons due to all of controversy, most of which has nothing to do with the sport or game itself.
I don't have very many hobbies at the moment. I've been doing a lot of gaming and show watching recently but that's about it.
When I'm feeling motivated I try and do a bit of programming or learning Japanese or something.
I think gaming qualifies as a hobby!
I don't have a specific hobby, I just like things for X amount of time then move on. Right now, i'm REALLY into 3d printing, it's really fun
Sounds like me. My wife says I'm a serial hobbyist...I get really interested in something for a while, then drop it and move on to something else. I did that with 3D printing. I just think there are so many things out there that are interesting, that I have more fun exploring a lot of stuff than I would just going crazy deep into one or two things.
What kinds of things do you print?
https://www.instagram.com/dude2k5/
Whole bunch of random stuff
What kind of Fanfiction?
Aw yiss.
I heard about ~ from failfandomanon!
I took up gardening this year too! I've got about 500sqft planted, mostly tomatoes and such. It's so much work and I'm constantly behind schedule. xD But I'm getting a tan for the first time in my life!
Holy SHIT 500 square feet? I thought I was impressive with my little 8' x 4' raised bed (LOL). Maybe next year if I figure out I'm okay at this.
I love reading when I have the time and concentration to sit down, I've recently changed hours and roles at work so things are a bit more mentally draining at times.
The odd TV show and Zela BoTW are both nice zone out relax times for me
I love to read, as well. I've developed this terrible ability to read more than one at a time. I think I have six books in varying stages of "read", and another six waiting.
haha that's brilliant. I've technically got 3 books on the go, two I don't think I'll pick back up anytime soon but that itch knowing they aren't finished bothers me.
I've also got the next book ready once I do complete the one I'm currently reading and the next series once that's done since it will be probably another year or two before the sequel comes out.
Homebrewing, already 5 years still feel like an amateur with the vast information of beer.
Woodworking - Recently I sketched out a couple pieces of furniture for our new house. I'm also planning out the new garage / workshop space.
Automotive repair - Cursing at our cars, truck, and motorcycles. I've got a Subaru that needs a new clutch, a Tacoma that needs a seal replaced in the transfer case and a custom transfer case actuator built. One motorcycle is about to get a larger front sprocket, the other motorcycle doesn't run right with pod style air filters, and needs the airbox put back on so it will run right.
Gardening - We're in the process of planning a garden and patio space. That's going to involve recovering the cushions of our patio furniture, I've been trying to figure out if we should try to do it ourselves or get an upholstery place to do it.
I also can't wait to get back into gaming. Once we move I'll have the space to setup my PC again!
Oooh, reupholstering is tricky, but if you have a sewing machine and are good at math, cushions should be do-able. Woodworking...this is another one I've been thinking about getting into. I took shop in middle school, and I remember enjoying making things with my hands.
Woodworking is one I've gotten back into lately. Being in an apartment and without any shop space, I've been working without power tools and using traditional methods.
Some things can be a lot slower to get done, but it's quite satisfying to build something with just your hands and you really don't need many tools to get started.
I play piano and guitar. Was trying to record stuff for a while last year but realized I just amn't good enough and don't have the time to commit to real improvement, so it's just a nice passtime now. I don't play at parties or around other people ever (unless I'm super drunk) but it does make me feel good that I've got a skill tucked away in my back pocket!
More recently I started playing chess semi-obsessively. I think it might just be a new form of procrastination that my brain hasn't realized is time wasting yet :D
Gaming, watching people play and programming.
Reading, napping, geocaching, and volunteering with wildlife. Although, I have not done much geocaching lately. I haven't found the time or the energy to do that with work lately.
What are you doing when volunteering with wildlife? Sounds interesting
We do rescue, rehab, and release for native wildlife and have some non-releasable animals. I help with cleaning enclosures, prepping diets, feeding animals, medicating animals, taking weights, making enrichment items, helping with restraint during exams, sometimes release animals, etc. I also get to do the glorious tasks of laundry and dishes for the animals. :)
Social Dancing! Like a lot of people, I was hit by the "how do I make friends after college?" question, and the way dances bring a lot of people from different walks of life together in a semi-structured way really worked for me.
Dances form the strongest communities I've ever been a part of, and they're really fun, and good exercise! Blues is my favorite style, but I'm also into Chicago Steppin' and Lindy Hop.
Here's a video from my favorite weekly venue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRlyjqZctkk
This is right up my alley. Thank you for the reminder! I think I will make an effort to get into one of these dance groups this fall/winter!
What city are you in? I've met people from all over the country through the dance exchange system ... basically roughly once a year each city will throw a big party and dancers from out of town will come to visit.
Milwaukee!
I do have a friend from there! I met her when we were both dancing in Chicago!
She just told me that her favorite places to go out in Milwaukee are the Monday and Thursday swing dances held by these people:

You're an absolute rock star! I am so checking this out! Thank you!
:-D
I hope you have a great time!
I play D&D a couple times a week. I have a knitting project going on. I used to do crochet but I fell out of it. Sewing, as well. I like woodworking whenever I can think of something I want to make. I occasionally do chainmail too.
For the record, I'm a 44 year old guy.
I go back and forth with knitting. I enjoy it, and also get super wrapped up, knit too tightly, and end up with pain in my neck, wrists and shoulders. I need to chill when knitting!
Right now I'm doing this except that I cast on 288 instead of 120 (12 sets of 24 instead of 5 sets)
Nice! My only finished knitting project is this one.
You're one up on me. This is my first project and I'm 15-20 grams into a 100 gram cake.
Fun! What do you like about knitting vs crochet? I’m the opposite, I used to knit and fell out of it, and now I’ve just picked up crochet. Made lots of beginner hats for Christmas gifts.
With crochet it's a lot easier to make different shapes, including 3D shapes. I mainly did stuffies. Also, you only need to worry about the one stitch you're currently doing instead of an entire row at a time.
Here's my r/crochet post history
With knitting the result doesn't come out as stiff so you can make softer wearables.
Aaahhhh, so cool!! I love the armadillo and nautilus. And the scarf and baby dress are beautiful. Your stitches are so even! I’m making dishcloths now to practice keeping my tension even, the hats I made for Christmas were a little uneven. Now I want to make an armadillo. :) Thanks for sharing your history!
Metal Detecting and Video Games. I enjoy helping others find what they lost on the beach etc.
I draw and grind in mmos for unhealthy amounts of time
For the past couple of years, my biggest hobbies have revolved around metal working, in some form or another. But pretty much anything to do with creating something, being outdoors, or medieval reenactment will get me pretty excited.
I want to say create content..art, music... But it seems like that lately my "hobby" has been complaining a lot about my life.
Could you use the parts of your life with which you are discontent as fuel or motivation for your content? Or do you think you are more productive when there is less to complain about?
Well due to my disabilities, I have very little actual energy whether it be physical or mental. I would say lately but for the last two years or so I just don't have much motivation anymore. I did do some pixel art last month but it was barely noticed and didn't really feel validated or better with myself.
I spend about 90% of my time..laying in bed. I hate it.
I hear you, I think everyone can relate to feeling unmotivated. And it sounds like your obstacles are perhaps more disruptive than others'.
I think the frustrating part is that 'motivation' is very fickle, and I would argue impossible to manufacture. We are more likely to spend time on something we're interested in when compared to an obligation or responsibility to someone else. That said, 'discipline' requires no motivation, and I think we can be more productive even when we're unmotivated. And in my experience, when I force or trick myself into starting a project or continue working on an existing one, I end up enjoying it anyway (in spite of myself).
Good luck, and feel better.
Just wanna say that I relate to this a lot. I recently took up embroidery because I hoped it would be less mentally and physically taxing than knitting, my previous hobby. It is, but I've still been putting off starting a new project because I've needed to use my limited energy for other things.
I hope you're able to find a creative outlet that works for you (and that your health improves if that's a possibility-- I don't want to assume).
Music--mostly just listening. I have an entire basement dedicated to my listening setup. Isolation treatment, 1974 Marantz 4300 amp, Spatial Audio M3 Turbo speakers, Rega P3 TT with Schiit Mani pre, an Akai 280 reel-to-reel player, and a Schiit Modi 2 Uber DAC. I listen to CD's, streaming services, and I have a vinyl collection of ~400 albums.
Backpacking, fly fishing, skiing, cycling, gardening, literature, and raw denim are all big interests as well.
Oh, and spending way too much time on Reddit, and now tildes.
Why Lojban?
Listening to music is a large hobby of mine, especially ambient music, but occasionally house when I'm in the mood for it.
In addition to that, I like biking to work and reading. I'm reading two books at the moment - Foundation by Issac Asimov and Chasing the Scream by Johann Hari.
The Foundation Trilogy is on my shelf, a fancy, leather-bound copy that was a gift to my spouse from my Father-in-Law. I tried to read it a while back and couldn't get into it at the time. It could have been where I was in my life at the time. How are you finding it so far?
I'm about 200 pages into the first book, right at the beginning of part five.
I'm impressed, especially by the games that the foundation world plays to survive and stay autonomous when its neighbors want to invade and control it. It took me a while to get into the book, but I was hooked by the end of part two.
Running and 3D printing. Can't get enough of both.
Got in to running as a way to lose weight but on the way it's become an addictive hobby and a way to relax my mind.
I love my 3D printer. It's only an Anet A8, so one of the cheapest ones out there but I've spent so much time on tinkering in the slicer and printing upgrades that increase the print qualities. I've learned so much and am still learning so much with all the tinkering, I absolutely love it.
My favorite thing is probably to play and watch soccer. The World Cup is coming up, and even though the USA didn't make it, I'm super excited! The opening game is usually within a couple days of my birthday, which is nice.
My wife does social dancing, which I've seen in a couple other comments. She wants me to get into it, but I enjoy soccer more -- and my body won't let me play soccer forever so I figure I should make the most of it!
I'm not even sure that I could list all of mine here; I continually find new things that I'm interested in and try to make time for them (more often than not, it doesn't work out, which is too bad).
I think my top ones would be reading, camping/hiking, messing around with my computers, gaming with friends, messing around with 3D printing, music, and finding random new science topics to learn about.
I also enjoy sleeping very very much :)
I really like outdoor hobbies. I've been a lifelong hiker and a long time practitioner of ultralight philosophy with regards to hiking, the less you carry the further you go, and we all tend to carry our fears.
I've recently gotten into rock climbing, which has been an absolute blast! There is something incredibly freeing about it and being a couple hundred feet up off the ground.
I also have a long time love of XCOM since the early days of computing and am really enjoying the latest game from Firaxis, with the War of the Chosen DLC as opposed to using the Long War Mod, I no longer have time for that level of detail.
Rocket league. It's one of the few games that takes my mind off of everything. I can't think about anything else while playing which has been needed lately.
Amateur Radio. I am not licensed yet but listen while at home on my cheap Baofeng and study when I can.
My current hobbies, subject to change at any time...
Board Games - Not your traditional American board games like Monopoly, but the kind of stuff you'll find on www.boardgamegeek.com. I get at least one new game a month, often several. Most often try to find good 2-player games that I can play with my wife, or stuff we can play with 3-5 family members without too steep of a learning curve.
Gardening - Nothing serious, but my wife and I are having fun with a bunch of new raised beds in our back yard this year. I love it when she's cooking something and sends me out to the back yard to gather ingredients. Fun to watch the progress of everything growing.
Quadcopters - My wife got me a toy drone for Christmas and I loved it. Started looking into a more serious drone and was just blown away at the current state of the technology. Amazing what the capabilities are for very reasonable prices now. I recently got a DJI Mavic Pro and am having lots of fun with it.
Board games are the big thing for me, it's how I got involved with my current friend group and met my SO, this year has been great for playing new games!
Competitive Swimming - Lot of time, very rewarding
Video Games - Duh
And I guess if it counts investing. It's not my job just something that I do on the side.
I get really obsessed by a new hobby, usually related to a subreddit, and then put that on autopilot to focus on another. In the last couple years I've gotten into bodyweight fitness, FIRE and lately credit card churning. Not sure what is next but with a bit of employment uncertainty I am looking into different "side hustle" ideas.
I upgraded my ham radio license last October and, after a decade of having it, finally started playing around on the air. In the four or five months I've made over 300 contacts across 37 countries using various modes of HF radio. I'm currently trying to learn morse code to help minimize the amount of gear that I have to take on portable operation. It's been testing my patience, which I generally don't handle well, but it's been mostly fun so far.
Not much, honestly. Brunch, churning credit cards and redeeming those points for travel, having a few drinks on the couch after work and watching shows, competing with my husband to see who can find the coolest stuff for the least amount of money on Wish. I'm pretty content with no "real" hobbies, honestly. We have three kids and pretty high-stress jobs, so I'd like to use my free time to just unwind and relax.
I love reading, aim to use all my spare time doing it. distraction from the internet and notifications on the phone make it difficult to focus at times, but I still try to use all my time reading. Its one of the most fulfilling hobbies imo.
I used to do a lot of free diving, mountain biking, r/c planes and helis, and camping.
Then I cofounded a SaaS biz, so now all I do is stare at Jira, make mockups, test, and talk to customers.
I'm a huge animation nerd, so i'm usually watching a new cartoon or we-watching one of my favorites :)
Fishing, live streaming video games, gardening and writing on the side. Mostly short stories, essays and novels, definitely not the poet type. I've been thinking of taking up hunting, in that case it'd probably be moose. It's the only big game that isn't protected around these parts.
I love building and collecting mechanical keyboards as well. I have too many keyboards..
My 2nd major hobby is growing and collecting succulents. They are like cactuses without the spines. There are so many variants, and sometimes they really look like alien vegetation. getting little cuttings is pretty cheap and watching them grow from a little leaf to a big plant is really rewarding. They also need very little water, so it's perfect for people who otherwise have a black thumb and can't remember to water their plants :)
Playing disc golf, reading, hiking, casually learning Linux, and exploring different cannabis strains (the joys of living in a legal state!). I try and keep it pretty low key, especially since I have a very exhausting job.
LOL. You said, "disc golf", and I thought, "marijuana smoker". No judgement, just tends to be true. :)
It totally does, none taken :P
I've heard if one wants to suss out the smokers in their corporate work environment, one should put out feelers for disc golfers. :)
FWIW, I'm a very casual smoker, as in quarterly. I just find certain harmless stereotypes amusing.
I've played guitar off and on (mostly off) for the last 15 years, but made it a New Years resolution this year to play more music, which I've done a pretty good job of. I picked up a Casio keyboard last year, and a bass this year and try to dedicate a few hours a week to playing something. Bass has been a lot of fun, and I wish I would have picked it up instead of guitar, honestly.
I've played Go/Baduk since I was in college, and try to play semi-regularly but haven't really gotten any better in probably a decade. I also play board games with some people from work.
Other than those, just standard media consumption. Music of all types. Random YouTube/Twitch channels I've found interesting over the years. Random indie games that catch my eye.
I don't watch a lot of TV, but have really been enjoying West World.
Metalworking and fiber arts.
