How did we reach 7 billion people without informing/educating all about how we really live?

[M/29/small town India, English isn't my first language]
I'll admit to being what is called a country bumpkin. The education I received was lacking in many ways, I wasn't taught about the real world, I never really thought about how the food on my plate was grown or how we plunder the living world for resources etc.
My question is, how did humanity reach 7 billion plus people without even paying a thought about educating the kids properly.
There is a bitter irony to the fact that we have all been convinced to use the word "growth" to describe what is ultimately a process of depletion and breakdown. tweet
If we are depleting the earth of all resources, how will coming generations live?
But if we don't grow, how can we progress?
Edit: Why can't we have good quality education for everyone and good quality healthcare for everyone on this planet?

This is prompted by /u/Adys comment to /u/Kuromantis.
I'm currently 14, and online I've refrained posting my age on my main account (on this site and others) to avoid it becoming a point in discussions (most prominently with politics, but any topic).- How do/did you feel about posting your age on the internet (in regards to being younger)?
- Do/did you feel like your decision made an impact on discussions?

I listen to music throughout each day but one of the most challenging things for me is finding good music to unwind and fall asleep to. What do you listen to before bed or while trying to fall asleep?
These are currently on my sleep rotation:
Sigur Ros - ( )
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place
River Boat Sleep - Guided MeditationI've tried listening to a lot of piano and classical but I get so invested in what they are playing that I can't fall asleep.

By clicking this link and reading this topic, you find yourself under a grave and terrible thread. The only way to defend yourself here is to lower yourself to punitive measures, and engage in wordplay in mass corruption. All is fair in pun and warfare, but do remember your actions are your pwn, and that there are no winners here. Only broken arts, and shattered themes.
(Just make puns.)
