šµ It's the most wonderful time of the year šµ
This is our annual holiday game giveaway topic. Spread some goodwill and holiday cheer with others!
Before you participate, please make sure you read the rules below.
Rules
-Gifters
Post your available games, the platform and method of delivery, rules for your giveaways (e.g. first-come first-serve, random draw, etc.), and any additional info or requirements. Feel free to get creative!
-Giftees
Request giveaways. Please make sure you follow the gifter's posted guidelines.
-Guidelines
Anyone can choose to be a gifter, giftee, or both! Giveaway rules are set by individual gifters, but there are handful of guidelines everyone should follow:
- No grey market keys! Only give away games from reputable sources. If you're not sure what this means, please ask.
- Requests for games should be done in this topic, but if the gift is a key, those should be delivered by PMs only. Please don't post keys publicly in this topic, even obfuscated ones.
If you're new to these, check out previous giveaway threads to see how these usually go.
As usual I will be giving away at least one copy of a game I played and enjoyed this year, not including Lingo (which was already given away in the summer). I've also excluded Catherine since it was given to me in the first place.
I'm going to make things slightly more annoying this time! Below is a list of words related to the games on offer. If you'd like to join, please select between one and three of the following lines and reply to this comment, referencing your choices either by number or by copying the entire line into your reply.
Here's a list of every popular user tag on Steam from every game in the list. They are sorted by frequency, from most to least frequent. You can use it to help you decide if you want to participate in the first place. "Singleplayer" was excluded - all these games are playable by a single player.

There are plenty of good games in there, so choose carefully! If there are two or more winners, we will also have a swap round during which participants can put their prize on offer for another winner to swap with (in case you already have it).
Q: I recognize one or more of the games above, is it cheating if I participate and choose those games?
A: No.
Q: Is it cheating if I research the games beforehand, for example on Steam, or simply by reading your posts on Tildes?
A: No. In fact, I think most of these are pretty easy to figure out.
If you have a specific game in mind, feel free to target it. Otherwise, if you'd rather be surprised, just pick whatever sounds good!
Note: For some games, it might be necessary to temporarily friend me on Steam if we aren't friends yet.
This is such a fun way to do a giveaway! It's doubly fun because I've got no clue what basically any of these are (which is unusual, since I consider myself pretty well-informed about games. So I'm excited about surprises!
I'm interested in:
5. Water, Fire, Shell6. Magnets, Ships, Beasts7. Run, Good, Perfectbecause I like magnets, platformers(?), and elemental stuff and have ZERO clue what they are. Thanks a ton!
Please post the answers once all the games have been given away!
11 (Rake, Melons, Moon) and 15 (Kami, Yokai, Tsuchinoko) both sound very interesting to me! Though I'll be happy with just one if someone else finds one of those interesting, since I do have a pretty hefty backlog already.
Side note, I just went through your posts to see if I could figure out what some of them are. I have a good idea what those two are, but looking through your history gave me a couple other games I might end up adding to my wishlist. You seem to have found some real hidden gems! 11 in particular seems VERY hidden, so I'm curious how you learned about it.
I just toss game names into a txt file and check if they're out once in a while. For that sort of game, I'd say probably... one of the less mainstream showcases from the "E3"/Summer Game Fest week?
It's not obvious to me what any of these are, but I can't resist a good mystery!
I'd like to roll for 4 (Mouse, Ostrich, Kangaroo).
I'm choosing not to research these ahead of time lol. I would pick:
Mouse, Ostrich, Kangaroo
Water, Fire, Shell
Kami, Yokai, Tsuchinoko
This is definitely a fun way of doing giveaways!
I've got some suspicions but not overly confident! This is such a cool idea.
8 (Grids, Paintings, Cave) or 12 (City, Mountains, Paradise) please!
I would like to choose this one because I believe there is a Loony Toons scenario in which a trap involving a suspended grand piano is an integral part of the plot.
Ohh interesting. Had some fun trying to guess what a few of these might be. One or two I think I might know, others I have no clue!
The two that sound most interesting to me are 14 and 7, but I could be totally wrong, lol.
I'd like to request Girl, Homunculus, City! Love anything with a homonculus!
I'd like to request 12 and 13, please
I don't think I recognize any of these, though I always enjoy reading your game writeups in the weekly threads :-)
All right, it's one of my favorite times of the year!
Tildes continues to be a cozy delight and I'm happy to give back in a small way. is one of my favorite cozy websites and I'm happy to try and give back. I've got some pretty old Humble keys from a period of indie gaming I'm especially nostalgic for, plus some newer stuff too. Please let me know if something doesn't redeem, but they should be fine.
All of these games are ones I've enjoyed or had recommended to me, so you can't go wrong!
All I ask is that you play the game in the next few months and tell me what you think of it (either here or in the weekly "What are you playing" thread). Don't just add it to your backlog, never to be seen again. š This is an honor-system + best-effort request, so don't worry too much if something stops you from playing/reporting back. Just like, don't claim a game without the intention to play it when you can.
And, a shameless plug: if you like these recommendations and would like to see more games I've enjoyed, I run a small media review site: https://david.reviews/games/
Giveaway is first-come, first-serve and one per person. I'll edit as things are claimed.
I've got (in roughly release order, old -> new):
Requesting Legend of Grimrock 2, please. I love the old dungeon crawlers from before the turn of the century. I played the first one for awhile (before my laptop gave out), so I imagine this should be just as great.
I would definitely take Supraland! Thanks in advance if you choose me!
I'll take Euro Truck Simulator 2. I tend to try to play new games as soon as I get them.
I have a bunch of steam keys that I will give away on a first come first served basis. Simply leave a comment telling me:
All keys are from Humble Monthly choices over the last couple of years, so if you already use that service, there's probably not much for you here, and I apologize. I cannot vouch for any of the games, except the Lost Dark.

I will also give out three personal favourites:
I don't have keys for them, but I'll gift them to you via steam, so if you want them, I think I need some kind of potentially identifying information to send the copy of the game to you.
Oh hey these are incredible games. I'd love Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew if possible. Been meaning to check that game out for a while but never got around to getting it.
Here's a holiday memory for you: in my country it's traditional to put all your shoes by the door around xmas, as that's where Santa would leave the presents. So as a kid I hated throwing away shoes because clearly more shoes = bigger/more gifts. Like I'd get some new shoes and rather than throwing the old ones out I would just keep them til xmas that year and then get rid of them after they had outlived their usefulness on December 25th, lol.
Game key sent, enjoy!
I wonder if my daughters somehow know about this tradition, because getting them to throw out any pair of shoes has been hard, for their whole lives.
I'd love
Persona 4 GoldenandYakuze: Like a Dragon! Heard great things about both and adored P5R.Favorite holiday memories are mostly around watching movies with the family. We always let my dad pick the movies on Christmas and he loves mysteries / detective stuff, so I've started to associate Sherlock Holmes with the holidays. There are a ton of spins on the character, so we've always got something new (or old and familiar) to watch!
Game keys sent, have fun!
Family movie night is also a core Phoenix Household memory, both from when I was a kid, to now with my own kids. Now we tend to split movies up over multiple nights because my wife tends to fall asleep!
One Christmas when I was younger, my brother and I decided to go tobogganing. We were staying over at a relative's place and, as we weren't familiar with the lay of the land, we had no idea where to go. But, being impulsive kids, we were sure we could continue this Christmas tradition of ours. As it turned out, finding a location wasn't a problem in our relative's hilly neighborhood; what was a problem was the snow: there wasn't enough of it. Because it's this kind of story, you can probably guess that we went tobogganing anyways, and as I can tell you, this is not something that I would recommend to anyone. Going down is rough, and falling off is simply not an option. We did it a few times until the wiser part of decided to go home, dragging our ruined sled behind us. But yeah, it was fun, and memorable.
Would like to request Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun if it is still available.
Game sent!
I feel that there is a certain rite of passage where one ruins a toboggan or gt snow racer. One year (this would be in the early 80s) my cousin ran his right into a tree and knocked himself right out... and worse broke the GT.
Merry Christmas!
Much appreciated, thank you!
Those GT Snow Racers were amazing! Too bad I missed out on those.
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Nioh 2
In my hometown, there was an event called "The Fantasy of Lights" every year, which my father's employer sponsored. It was an enormous park filled with extravagant displays of Christmas lights, put up by local institutions. We were broke, and couldn't afford Christmas decorations of our own, but I remember bundling into the minivan to drive through the display. We'd sing Christmas carols as we went, me, my siblings, parents and grandmother oohing and aahing over the lights. Then we'd buy candy canes from the convenience store and go downtown to see the huge Christmas tree they put up by the bank building. I guess, looking back, it was all a bit small-town corporate. But I don't have many memories of my family, and it's nice and even a little romantic to have one of us being poor and festive and happy together.
Thanks for the giveaway :)
Game key sent! Enjoy, and thank you for sharing - small town corporate seems pretty wholesome given the current state of affairs ;)
Hello! I would definitely take Cavern of Dreams as I'm a massive fan of 3D collectathon platformers! As for Christmas memories, the most impactful would probably be as a young child (I don't remember how old lol) when my parents got me a PS2 for Christmas as well as the original Ratchet & Clank. Since then, the PS2 has become my favorite game console of all time due to all the great memories of it!
Game key sent, collectathon away!
I have a very similar core memory... except mine is with the NES. And one prior with the Atari!
Thank you so much!
Legacy of Kain⢠Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered.
For older memories, I'd probably have to say sponge cake, because Christmas was the only time I was allowed to have it. Three ingredients: store-brought sponge cut into cubes, a tin of berries and whipped cream. All layered and squished into a cake tin and chilled. The best part was eating it for breakfast on boxing day.
These days, Christmas is very relaxing and low-key, which is just the way I like it.
Thank you for the giveaway!
Game key sent, enjoy!
Cake for breakfast on boxing day sounds decadent! I'm not usually big on cake, but sponge cake with fruit and whipped cream sounds pretty great. Enjoy, Merry Christmas!
That was very swift, all claimed.
The sponge isn't too sweet and the whipped cream doesn't have sugar added, so it's not as decadent as you'd think. That's probably why I like it so much. And it's always better on Boxing day when the sponge has had more time to absorb the fruit.
Thanks again!
i would love total war pharao
Hmm I'm actually on holliday atm. i just saw a cuple of whales, blowing water and jumping out. what an amazing sight.
Merry christmas, key sent!
I've seen whales a few times, with one of them being a humpback that swam under our (relatively small) boat; they are on another whole level of size. I'd seen belugas and orcas, but that was the biggest creature I have ever (and probably will ever) see). Enjoy your holiday!
i only saw them from the beach. i'm pretty shure they were humpbacks as well. it was just awesome in the literal meaning, they're just soooo big.
thank you so much for the key
Thanks for your generosity! I would love to play Citizen Sleeper, if no one else has claimed it.
One of my favourite recent holiday memories was during COVID. I was bubbling with my future in-laws, who were also my neighbours. It was very relaxed, we prepped food beforehand, there was lots of cheese and dessert, and since we were all very close, no one felt the need to be on good behaviour or worry about being offended or make small talk. We watched some movies, played Nintendo, and it was one of the most relaxing holiday experiences I've ever had! Even though COVID was tough in a lot of ways, that was the perfect day, and it wouldn't have been possible without social restrictions. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to reminisce!
Key sent, enjoy!
That sounds like a lovely Christmas memory, and it's how I like my christmas holidays to be as well. We have tried to keep a similar vibe; PJs, board games, cheese and pate, crackers, chocolates, snack, nintendo, beer and lounging. That's my favourite way to celebrate!
I have a few unused keys from the time Marvin the Moose broke tildes. No real indication of whether they all work, so guess I'm going to give all of them to the same person. Don't expect anything fancy, I never heard any of them before
Requirements: Idk, post your favourite Lana del Rey song and the winner is the person who accidentally picks the one I like the most out of all of them
Deadline, uh, whenever I see this on December 25 I guess
Never forget.
My proudest moment as a Tildes user, personally
Entering with "Video Games" just so I can post this lyric:
...always makes me think that Scorpion would make for a good snuggler.
Hello! This is my first time ever giving away game keys! I recently got these in a bundle and have no real interest myself (aside from Coromon which I already have). I only have three games to give away. All three are on Steam. When you tell me what you want, give me your best funny fake fact to try and fool people with. The funniest one gets the game!
Coromon
Farewell North
Fruitbus
Giveaway
Rules: Nominate any games you would like from the following list and answer one (or more!) of the following questions.
As I'm probably on a different timezone to most folks here, I've always done a roll-based system where anyone can put a bid in at their leisure. I just assign a dice based on how many have claimed and the highest roll wins. I don't have a system set up to provide a transparent process so this is just based on trust. Entries close on 23 December at midnight PST - I'll try to get keys sent out before Christmas!
Direct gift via Steam - Requires adding me as a friend in order to get the gift and I'm completely indifferent as to whether you delete me after you get it.
Roadwarden - Fantasy adventure pixel VN. I started playing it in the Backlog Burner and I love it so much. It's very immersive and text-heavy! If you like DnD and tabletop RPGs I think you'll like this. I'm gifting three copies and could be convinced to send more out, depending on interest.
Steam keys
A good many of these are on the currently active Humblebundle Rawfury bundle, others may be a year or so old and I cannot 100% guarantee they will activate. If your game doesn't activate and there is another unclaimed game, you'll be welcome to claim it.
American Arcadia - Point and click puzzle
Atomicrops Deluxe Edition - Frantic farming sim
Bad North Jotunn Edition - Island tower defence
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition - Classic iso CRPG
Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition - Classic iso CRPG
Call of the Sea - Narrative driven puzzle
Friends vs Friends Deluxe Edition - Deckbuilding and PvP
Kathy Rain Director's Cut - Pixel point-and-click
Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer - Pixel point-and-click
Kingsgrave - Top-down action RPG and puzzles
Pizza Possum - Arcade cute Co-op
Sable - Atmospheric adventure
Tails Noir - Detective pixel VN
Tails Noir Preludes - Detective pixel VN
Yesterday Origins - Mystery point-and-click
I'd love Sable! Call of the Sea is my backup pick.
Game I'm looking forward to playing: A gift exchange santas gave me Constance, so that one.
Memorable holiday season game: Last year I was playing Dungeons of Hinterberg. It was definitely a memorable game, despite a few design weaknesses!
Unexpected gaming gift: When my internet friends gave me my first VR headset, the HTC Vive. I'd never have expected anything like that.
I have yet to play either of these games so cannot give you any opinions I'm afraid.
Wow, I really like the look of Constance, I just added it to my wishlist. DOH is already on my wishlist - it does look really unique. And wow that's awesome when friends on the internet pool together their collective resources!
One year, I decided to buy and play Cthulhu Saves Christmas during the holiday season. I hadn't played the game it is based on and don't usually play holiday-themed games, but it was the right pick for the gaming mood I was in. It was number of years ago, but I remember being impressed by it and promising myself to play it again in the future; I think it would be to catch a different ending (which wouldn't matter now since I don't remember much about the game anyways). The thing that impressed me about it is how many corners were cut to make the game, and how flippant the game was about it. It seemed pretty obvious that crammed in the work to push this game out for a holiday deadline (a (mini-)RPG, no less), but it doesn't feel unworthy. Rather, the whole thing is a hoot, and the game dev let us in in the fun. I'd play it again, but it's on Switch, and I've mostly given up on that platform. Still, a good small Christmas RPG recommendation for anyone interested.
I am interested in American Arcadia or, if that is not available, then my alternate choice would be Sable. Thanks!
I've never played a Christmas game before, which is why I thought I'd ask. Love the satire and that it's a game you can play through fast rather than dragging out past the holidays.
Thanks for entering :)
Over time I've accumulated keys for various games I already own, so this is a good opportunity to maybe get them over to someone who can actually use them. You don't have to do anything in particular to receive one, just let me know what you're interested in <3
You should be aware that some of these are quite old (like 10 years old...), so I don't know if they all still work. If you request something and can't redeem it, I'd be happy to get you a new copy/key, if you'd like!
These are all Steam keys:
Thanks for your generosity! I'd love to see if your Starbound key works - I hear the modding scene is pretty good.
Would be keen for 'Into the Breach'. I almost always have a strategy game I dip into on the side, while I'm working through an RPG. And I love turn-based tactical games. Thanks for the giveaway!
