Tildes Book Club - Voting thread 2 results - requesting feedback from library users
Thanks for your participation. We got three solid winners from this voting thread, Terry Pratchett Small Gods, Neil Gaiman Ocean at the End of the Lane, Amal El Mohtar and Max Gladstone This is How you Lose the Time War.
Library users please check availability and reply to this thread if any of these three should be sorted to the end of the schedule. We still have the Dispossessed and Project Hail Mary to read in May and June before starting these new books. After receiving feedback I will set a schedule for the summer.
Somehow Anathem made it through the screening process and is unfortunately nearly a thousand pages which does not fit a monthly book club structure. We will vote again in the Fall.

I don't see any that would be incredibly difficult to acquire, but your library system may vary.
Dispossessed is my difficult one right now ironically. Just not as many copies.
Thanks for responding. : )
I bit the bullet and bought the book. It was for sale on Kobo for a few dollars. I anticipate that I will probably have to do the same if the books are in demand.
Yeah I keep money on an Amazon gift card refilled from survey/cash back apps for this sort of book buy. I may just do the same.
Could I (@maximum_bake) be added to future posts please?
Yes absolutely
Haha, Anathem was my nomination. Sorry, I did not know there was a page limit, although that makes complete sense. The last few times I have listened to it, so I had forgotten how long it is.
I'm sure it's a great book. In the prompt I had requested 600 pages or less but I should have double checked.
I will know for next time. Thanks for organizing all this
The only one with a wait for me is This is How You Lose the Time War, but it's only a couple weeks.
My library carries Ocean at the End and Time War, but not Small Gods. I expect there's more ways to find a Pratchett novel though. I see it on Amazon, Audible, Spotify, etc.
I was a little disappointed that Elder Race and Kindred weren't picked, but they intrigued me enough to add them to my own reading list. So actually I'm pleased to have more titles of interest to read in the future.
I'm not sure yet if I'll keep up with the next selection's picks. I might join for shorter books, but after The Dispossessed I'm really itching to get back to the series I left in the middle of. Will likely dip in and out, depending on mood!
I hope kindred will be picked eventually.
Anathem acted as a spoiler, siphoning votes that would have otherwise been distributed
I know some expressed an interest in seeing more books from the perspective of minorities, so I thought Kindred was perfect. It still scratches that scifi/fantasy itch that we all seem to possess, but offers a new perspective through which to explore it. The book length also fit the format well.
Hopefully it makes it in next time.
I plan to nominate it but you could also
Please feel free to @ me with discussions about either in the book thread!
Time War is a shorter read if you're interested in that one
I've actually previously read Time War. I shared my thoughts on Tildes before, but didn't link them in this thread as they contained spoilers. If you'd like to read them though, here's a time portal to that discussion.
I also voted for kindred and elder race. Been looking to read more of Butler in particular after enjoying Parable of the Sower, and I have Bloodchild on my holds list.
Bloodchild is excellent!
If you like that I also recommend Jemisin's How Long til Black Future Month
You are welcome whenever.
I'm a library reader, but I read 2/3 picks recently enough they're still fresh in my mind (ocean at end of lane; ...time war). Small gods has a long wait, but Im 50/50 on whether I'll participate in that one. As beloved as he is, I haven't been able to get into Prachett in the past.
I guess what Im saying is, I'm not bothered about read order too much :)
Ocean at the End of The Lane is immediately available in my library system, Time War looks like it's only a few weeks wait so no issues, and Small Gods seems to have unlimited eBook copies available.
I was actually wanting to read The Ocean at the end of the Lane so this is perfect timing.
The only issue that I have for the next round of books is Small Gods. Mostly my library system only has one copy. The others are fine.
