Each and every hobby has a start. I'm going to learn how to play the piano. For this, I'm planning to buy an electric piano. There's a regular grand piano I have access to, but they come without headphone jacks, and until I get better I want to limit the scope of audible torture to my own ears as much as possible. So, I could do with some of your advice.

This list of requirements is not meant to limit you in your advice, but serves more as a guideline, to give you an idea of what I'm looking for.

Hard requirements:

• Headphone jack
• The sound library must contain at least a 'normal' piano sound and an electric piano sound (the more it sounds like a dirty Rhodes, the better!)
• At least 128 voice-polyphony
• At least 76 keys, but preferably 88

Soft requirements:

• Weighted keys
• Simulated hammer action
• High repetition
• Ebony and ivory key feel (don't like the sensation of smooth plastic)
• MIDI support so I can hook it up to a computer to try out other sound libraries

Completely unnecessary but cool:

• USB port
• Bluetooth compatibility

If you've learned to play the piano, especially as an adult, any advice you may have for me would be more than welcome, too.

So I'm a teen and am starting a new school next year. I get a 12 week break so would really like to try and get in shape, mainly to boost self confidence. What types of exercise / diet would people recommend?

I don't think I'd ever get skinny but I'd I could swap out some fat for muscle that would be fantastic!

I discovered this series while browsing something on Netflix Kids with my kids and after finishing the first season I already knew it was going to be one of those jewels that you absolutely love.
Both me and my kids waited with anticipation every new season and now that it's ended I sincerly have that bittersweet feeling of something good that ended but that couldn't have ended better than this.

I strongly recommend everyone to give it a watch, either if you have kids or if you just love animation's movie. It's really something special.

The series is completed (spoilers in this article) as stated previously, several time, by the creator Gulliermo del Toro and this just proves how it was a labour of love instead of a milking machine (looking at you How To Train Your Dragon").

Hi, I am interested in creating a list of essential jazz albums for people who may be beginning to listen to the genre. My basic idea is that each person can contribute one album to the list. This has two caveats: one, you can only contribute once, and two, the album that you contribute cannot already be listed in the previous comments. If we can make this work, I will compile the results after one month based on the ranking of the albums by votes. Let's see what a bunch of ~s can do. Also, if you have suggestions for how this may be better organized, do let me know.

I actually heard this one before the orig so this might be a bias for me. But when I finally got around to listening to the orig, it felt empty. Turns out i love those trailing high notes and it wasn't entirely the same feeling without it

This one is super first world, but it would make the transition from Reddit much easier. The vote button is on the far right of the screen even though the rest of the UI and most people naturally gravitate to the left. I am fine with them keeping the old vote button, but they should put a small one on the left side also.

I purchased the Matebook X Pro for 1350 from Microsoft with the student discount.

Build: It is a very sturdy laptop and fits perfectly in a backpack.

Trackpad: It feels just like the MacBook Air.

Keyboard: Great typing. Switches are very similar to the MacBook Air but their noise is lower pitched.

Screen: The screen is great and I love the thin bezels.

Software: No bloat besides the driver manager.

Gaming: People underestimate the mx150. It runs pubg at a playable 40fps at mostly low and a few medium settings and fortnite at 60 FPS

with medium settings. I would never use it a a primary gaming machine, but it would be very useful for lan party’s.

Battery life: average

Dislikes: It can get very loud when gaming.

Overall, It feels like the spiritual successor to my MacBook Air in design and size. It has a fantastic display and build quality and it is priced competitively. If you are willing to pay a premium for build quality and portability then I would definitely get this laptop.

I have never done a Reddit review before so ask any questions that I left out.

A lot of the newer websites and services now offer 2FA so I was wondering if Tildes has any plans to do that? No idea how hard it would be to implement but I feel like that would be a welcome addition for many people.

I'd also be happy to hear people's thoughts on this an if you guys think the website actually needs this. In my mind more security is always better than less security.

So I've nearly finished my exams and am going to have a bunch of free time soon. I want to try and learn to do some electronics stuff. I already have an Arduino and Pi and have done the basic flashing lights projects, but want to try something a bit more interesting (but not too expensive either)

I've been using ~ on mobile to try it out, and although it's great, there's one major inconvenience.

If I'm reading through a long comment, I want to instintively collapse it so it won't distract me. But on mobile, I have to scroll a long way up to do that. It's even worse with comment chains.

Can we have a collapse button at the bottom as well? Or a swipe, like on the Reddit app? Or do we have to wait for the development of the app before mobile users get good UI?

Now, this is in solarised dark (1 true colourscheme represent), but this specific issue is present in all current schemes - the blue and purple are way too close together. This also impacts visited vs unvisited links.

On this same note, the button style for solarised dark is not colour-shifted between schemes.

I can start. I live in Gujarat, India. The worst (some residents would argue best) part of this state is we have had a total ban on alcohol since 1960. Worth noting, it was the only state in India to have banned alcohol (until very recently, one more state had a ban).

The reason? Because Mahatma Gandhi was born in this state and he was against alcohol (for a good reason.) But now, whole generations have grown up without alcohol and majority of the people here actually support the ban.

I don't really understand this model unless server costs are a concern. Google+ did that years ago and it honestly was a failure.

It's just one more step for registering as they are not like restricting the number of invites. Was just wondering that.

One of the things I dislike about Reddit is how the username is something very easy to gloss over. Unless a user is super prolific, you don't ever remember a person on Reddit. I feel this is a big part of what makes Reddit so unpleasant - you are just one voice among many, a cog in the machine, so every time you post it's not that different to just posting from a throwaway. Generally, I think this really contributes to the feeling that on Reddit, you are just an opinion, not an actual person with thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Additionally, it protects people who post toxic comments, because it's easy to forget their username and so when you encounter them again, you can't easily tell they are the person from before, unless you check their post history.

On smaller subreddits, this problem is partially solved with flairs. The problem with those is that they do not stay the same across Reddit (which I guess is a matter of personal preference, participating in Reddit as a whole vs a bunch of separate communities), and they often serve as a way to add relevant info about the user, so they are just generic groups that a lot of people share.

I think ~ could really benefit from having some kind of way to tell one user from one another better. Either by making the usernames more prominent somehow, by adding flairs, or possibly even avatars (I know, that's so incredibly retro, but it does help see you the other person as a person and not just as an opinion on the internet).

Seeing as we're still a small community, I see a lot of familiar faces in every thread.
