Tildes Book Club - off topic - question re spinoff/ parallel to Storygraph
User and book club ping recipient Maevens said that it would help them if the book and questions were posted to Storygraph, so I created a basic book club template, but I haven't done anything with it yet.
What do you all think? Options include simply posting the book title each month, posting the book title and the discussion questions each month or posting and including a link to the Tildes book club discussion. I'm going to do something minimal regardless, to honor Maevens' request but I want to know what you all think and whether there are things you specifically don't want me to do.
Bottom line, the two book clubs could run in parallel with crossover and links, or they could be essentially separate. Please advise.

I do use StoryGraph but solely as a tracker of what I've read and what I plan to read next. I was unaware of the book club style questions on that app as well. I would lean towards keeping the discussion all in one spot here on Tildes, but if others think it would help foster discussion I wouldn't mind figuring out how to use the StoryGraph version.
If you want to run two linked books clubs, I have no problem with that. The more the merrier, so long as you're willing to do the work, I suppose. But even running them in parallel with links between them, wouldn't doing that still split the discussion between the two sites?
I've heard of Storygraph, but I personally don't intend to sign up for it since I barely even use Goodreads despite it being integrated into my Kindle. So if the book club discussions on Storygraph aren't visible without a sign up, I would miss out on reading the Storygraph side of things. And if that also meant less responses here on Tildes because of people migrating to Storygraph, then I would be a tad disappointed, not going to lie.
I have no intention of posting anything to Storygraph that isn't also here. However, I am not going to police users.
Including a link to Tildes would make it easier.
Oh, I'm definitely not asking you to police anyone, and if you and other people want to use Storygraph, that's fine. That doesn't really answer my question though.
TBH, I don't really understand how Storygraph works, since I don't use it. So I was asking if doing this would result in the book club discussions being split between the two sites, and require everyone signing up for Storygraph to even see that side of the discussion. If it does, I would be a bit sad, since I enjoy reading all the book club discussions even when I can't participate (which has happened a lot lately since I am really struggling to find time to read any novels these days). But I also have no intention of signing up for Storygraph either, since I have no use for it other than potentially reading the Tildes book club discussion now taking place there instead of here on Tildes... which means I would miss out on whatever discussion happens there.
Hmmm... I didn't know that storygraph was an entirely separate discussion platform. I would be unwilling as well to sign up for another site and try to remember to log in and track discussion elsewhere. If storygraph functioned as an organization system with the upcoming books and, I guess the related discussion questions so people could prepare, I can't think of any problem I would have but I think bifurcating the discussion would be pretty brutal, especially on months with lower participation for any number of other reasons.
To be honest, I could just limit it to posting the book of the month, the dates and a link to the Tildes discussion and that seems to be where the discussion is going.
I can give basic information about invitations as well, since there is a chance that @maevens or @crialpaca will bring in friends. (No pressure).

I would be totally fine with this scenario! Though I don't have any story graph friends to bring along to Tildes, it's just me compulsively updating my read percentages lol
I obsessively use TheStoryGraph and tbh if some of the book club stuff was there I might do better at reading the books on time, but also no promises because I haven't used TheStoryGraph's book club feature before, so I'm not sure how much I would use it in reality. (That's a really long run-on sentence oops.)
I joined the TheStoryGraph book club to see how it proceeds. I don't have strong feelings about the questions being posted there, but I think it would be helpful if at least the book info and a link to the Tildes discussion was posted!
Storygraph book club as it currently exists.
How you react/ respond to these questions will shape how much or how little I do with it. Please speak up if you have strong feelings or helpful ideas.
I've beel using StoryGraph for the past year to track books, but have never used the 'social' features like book clubs or friend/follow anyone, so Im not sure how it works.
I'd prefer if the discussion was all in one place, ideally here, so nobody needs another account and you don't have to juggle between the two. However it would be neat to have a group on StoryGraph to see how far everyone is in the book, maybe a rating when they finish, and see what else they are reading.
It's going to be up to individuals. The book club exists and I will do something with it but discussion will be here unless exclusively Storygraph members run with it.
I like the listing it has. I keep losing track of what’s coming up when and often get the book either late in the month or the next month.
I aspire to using storygraph but I don't remember to update it, where good reads just yanks right off my Kindle app
Maybe a link in the book club posts would remind me. But because of that I'm not a frequent user at all
Do you have feelings or opinions about whether I should or shouldn't link the Tildes discussion page to the Storygraph posts?
I also primarily use Goodreads for your reason and because I have a large group of contacts there. I am also open to new contacts on Goodreads if anyone wants to message me about that. @definitelynotafae
I don't want to use Goodreads more than I do by letting Kindle update it for me. Thanks though
Linking it is fine but I'd want the discussion to be here!
